Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Five of us went on a Wednesday night. Lovely food, friendly service and a good atmosphere. What more could you want? Would really recommend, it’s a nice meal out and priced accordingly. We’ll be back!

We hand a great evening here - lovely food, all cooked with love and attention, and excellent service - and such an interesting and varied menu . We’ll make the trip from Harrogate to go again.

We visited Le Caveau in Skipton having seen some great reviews on Trip Advisor. We really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is quite small, but this created a lovely friendly atmosphere and it was really great to see the chef come round and help with...the service and chat with guests. Sadly, it is too far away to become a regular for us but we will definitely return next time we are in the area and would also strongly recommend a visit. The menu offers a great selection and if you fancy them all then you can enjoy a taster menu. You will not be disappointed. The staff are really helpful, and the menu offers really tasty food at a great price.More

Skipton's finest. They know how to cook Other places to eat in Skipton with good ratings, in our opinion, are very very poor relations in terms of cooking skills and delicious food. That's it really!

We visited this little gem of a restaurant for a weekday lunch with a friend. The place exudes charm and originality. The service was welcoming and friendly and the food immaculate. There is an excellent selection of dishes; the ones we chose were beautifully presented...and delicious. We shall definitely return and recommend.More

First time here and will DEFINATELY return ... Booked for my husband's 73rd birthday as a treat as read several reviews so we're looking forward to something special....and this place ticked all the boxes...a very special venue, former fourteen hundreds gaol vaulted ceilings very intimate...and relaxed setting. Staff were extremely attentive yet not in your face. Food cooked by Mark was delicious. Menu choice was extensive. Choice of drinks very good. In all everyone made our special day extremely enjoyable and not forgettable. We would definitely recommend this place....there are only nine tables and so you would need to book well in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed out meal, the ambiance, the staff, everything was perfect 🥰 💞 👌More

Came here for lunch during the week with my husband. The food was great! Fish cookery was excellent. Service great! They catered well for my coeliac (gluten free) needs. Cute place. My only issue was it was too cold so I had to keep my...coat on. We will most definitely return.More

A quirky place in the centre of Skipton. Exceeded expectations. Good friendly service. Good choices with some innovative cooking on fixed price evening menu. Great value for money and hospitality. We will be back!

Stayed at hotel Rendezvous for two nights and made several searches on line for good restaurants in Skipton. Le Caveau was rated 1st out of 81 so we were very eager to visit. We were not disappointed : the staff were welcoming and helpful and...the food was stunning. One of the best meals we have had in years. May even re-visit Skipton just for the pleasure of another dinner here! Paul & CaroleMore

Our third visit to this lovely restaurant and as usual another excellent evening. The restaurant is underground and has a great cosy atmosphere. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We were looked after by Alistair who was very personable and professional. We didn’t...feel rushed when looking at the menu. We chose from the specials and the evening menu. All the food was delicious and well cooked by chef Mark. We were presented with a complimentary small cup of curried sweet potato soup and delicious home made bread, just enough but very welcome. We had salmon and spring onion tart and scallops for starters then duck breast and lamb for our mains ( to be honest, as there was a £3 supplement on the scallops, duck and lamb I would have liked more than two small slices of lamb as it was so delicious!) We shared a gorgeous tonka bean crème brûlée for dessert. With two bottles of lager and a bottle of wine, the total bill was £116 which we thought was very reasonable. We will definitely be back to Le Caveau, thanks for all your hard work.More

Last minute choice for dinner. Usually I wouldn't leave a review unless it's a 5/5 because I'm not into publicly calling somewhere out, or being a keyboard warrior like the majority of TA. However, I mention these because I think if changes were made, this...place would be quite a good place to dine. First of all, I think the manageress was polite and helpful, however, the wine we ordered was wrong and then we received a lesson on alternate reds, and that based on our mains order, this red would be better suited. Ok, fine. But you could have just said it was unavailable, as it eventually transpired. The food was good. We mentioned our enjoyment of the meal, but that the dishes could have done with a little 'je ne sais quoi' however, again there was an insinuation that we were uneducated in food, wine, etc. So left feeling a little patronised. I understand places are proud of what they do, and would defend it to the hilt. But sometimes just be plain and upfront. The setting is lovely, in a 16th century prison. Lovely. I do hope it was a one off, as we will probably return at some point.More

The best place I've been to in years. I am dairy intollerant and the chef Mark and the other people working there went above on beyond to help with this. They basically said I can have anything on the menu and they will adapt it...to work for me. Made me feel so welcome and the food was 10/10. Will be returnign again. Thank you. MarkMore
