We loved this gorgeous little pub. Nice and quiet with good music. The staff were very nice. Food was great and fast service. We had the gammon and was brilliant. The beer garden is also beautiful in the summer. All round lovely & traditional pub.

Late afternoon and feeling peckish on our way home to south west Wales we were driving through Llanrhystud and saw the Black Lion. A pub meal beckoned. Plenty of seating and a couple of large screen TVs in case conversation dries up. Menu offered a fair range of options and we had the Hunters chicken and the chicken with garlic... More

We visited this Pub twice while staying near by. Lovely warm welcome and great atmosphere. We had dinner one evening and lunch the next after a long walk. The food was home cooked and really delicious. We will definitely return when next in the area.

The Black Lion is a country pub with a restaurant in the vicinity of the Brechfa Forest, so great if you like walking as there are trails from the village. This was our first visit and we dropped in on a lunchtime passing through. The bar is small and cosy with wooden tables and chairs and a flagstone floor. We... More

What a great place, we were greeted by a lovely friendly lady behind the bar, nothing was to much trouble. Three of us had Sunday lunch one beef, one pork and a nut roast all were delicious, so tasty. All had a sweet and they were just as good. Looking forward to going again.

Went for a walk round the trails in brechfa and after a nice 2 hour walk with the kids (hour mins from the pub car park) we got in at 1.30 for Sunday lunch. The beef was lovely, good selection of veg and the pudding was nice too. 1 ale on tap that was well served. These pubs are disappearing,... More

We were recommended to this pub ...with food...which is a quite remote village in Wales. From my point of view the local beer was lovely, the choice of wine limited. The lady owner Louise was very friendly and helpful with the menu choice. She as we understood it was the cook/chef as well as landlady. although it was a bleak... More

Oh.. My... God.. Amazing, amazing, amazing! Lovely friendly welcome as soon as you arrive. I don't think I have ever eaten somewhere with so much selection on the menu. So many choices for Vegetarian meals and they can cater for Vegans as well. The food was melt in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. It was my Husbands and I first visit,... More

A family run Pub set in the heart of the Cothi Valley, with a cosy rustic bar and separate Restaurant area for parties, meetings and dining. The Beer Garden was cited as one of the top 10 Beer Gardens in UK by the Times online with stunning views of the River and Roman Bridge. Abergorlech is adjacent to waymarked woodland walks and the Brechfa Forest Mountain Bike trails. Plenty of home made food, local ales and friendly locals. Accomodation is available to let in a seperate cottage in the village.
