What an absolutely fabulous gem in the heart of the South West Wales! We visited here for a lunch with friends and family on a Thursday lunchtime. The decor is stylish and I wanted to leave with many pieces of furniture! The place was immaculate, lovely and warm and so was the welcome. Service was superb and the food was extremely tasty, fresh and a very wide variety on the menu with a mix of those dishes which would appeal to all with those which made a nod to the surroundings. Could not fault this place at all. Will absolutely come back. We came from Llandeilo and it was definitely worth the trip! Thank you

Myself and my husband visited The Forest Arms last night for dinner with our two pups which were warmly welcomed and the gentleman kindly brought out water for them and refilled it during our visit. The food was absolutely incredible and the pub/restaurant is refreshingly welcoming and warm. The staff are a true credit to the owners, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back when next in the area!

Ideal place for a family get together, friends reuniting, an intimate dinner or a more leisurely chill out after a walk.
It has a relaxed atmosphere and you are greeted as soon as you go in. The staff are attentive and the is service excellent. The menu has something for everything without being overly complicated. The standard of food is first rate. The lasagne is best I’ve ever tasted in my life; with local produce served at its best. Delicious and warming.
Very good value for money. Excellent car parking facilities.

This was our 2nd visit. The first was last Sunday where the beef roast dinner, the vegetarian dinner and both desserts were fantastic. Due to this we thought we’d take the mother for food in the week and unfortunately it didn’t live up to the Sunday lunch experience. The beef burgers we just ok but we checked with the waitress regarding the vegetarian burger and was told it was an onion bhaji based patty! Well when it tured up the ere was an onion bhaji in it but then there was a coated meat/chicken look a like very mushy thing which she didn’t eat as it wasn’t nice at all(I did try it) and certainly wasn’t described on the menu as it actually was and the waitress was completely incorrect. My wife didn’t want to complain it to upset my mother and I just felt that the money was wasted for her meal.

A lovely welcome from the new landlady, we were so pleased to be back after nearly three years. The service from the waiting staff who are all youngsters was outstanding well done all.
Our Sunday lunch was off the scale, we both had beef which just melted in the mouth, gravy just like Grandma used to make and plenty of it, there was cabbage, carrots, swede, mashed potatoes, amazing Yorkshire pudding and the most inviting roast potatoes and parsnips and without asking horseradish sauce ready for us!
Desserts were spot on and I at last had my Eton Mess really missed that! We will be back very soon. Thank you so much for the welcome.

Couldn’t recommend this pub enough.
Whilst gluten free isn’t noted on the menu, the staff are knowledgeable and clued up, spoke me through the menu. The majority of the menu could be made gluten free and even GF fryers for chips.
Great portion sizes!
The pub is cosy, extremely affordable and lush staff.

We booked a table of 14 on Wednesday evening. Our party turned up in 4 car loads. First table arrived about 10 minutes before our table was booked for all of the doors and lights to be locked and off.
We arrived 3 minutes after our table was booked and a phone call was made to a member of our table asking where we were as we were walking through the door. As we came through all the staff were gathered around chatting when 7 of us were seated they came through and told us that they were booked and they needed our order straight away and assured us that our food would come out all together we felt very rushed and not wanted when being a table of 14 we knew that our order would be huge and would have made them a couple of hundred pounds that evening, we were eating our starters before the other guests had even arrived. Which is very unprofessional. The chef shouldn’t have come out to tell us and basically told us to hurry up. In future you should manage the bookings better. Or not take large bookings if you only have 1 chef in the kitchen.
On to the food.
None of the adults were satisfied really- crab cakes were dry, garlic mushrooms were oily and cold. The bread with the olives was soggy on the outside.
Steak wasn’t cooked right, the curry was bland and dry- there was no sauce to the curry and had to ask multiple times for mango chutney which it should have come with.
They had run out of desserts and the manager who I assume came out to tell us didn’t offer a replacement- but why only have 6 slices of brownies left when you have over 50 people booked in?
Our bill came to over £60 for my parter and I and I was not satisfied at all.
The one waitress with curly hair was lovely and super helpful but they others were useless.
They also need allergen training.
I’m anaphylaxis to pineapple and I told the male waiter and he looked blank at me so I quickly rushed over to the bar to change my order just in case he didn’t know.
Wouldn’t recommend.

You may recall at the time of your booking we had advised that it was a very busy night. We are a village Pub and not a 10 chef strong restaurant. We wanted to feed you and explained that it was critical you all arrived at 6 for your meal.
You were Our first and largest table. We open at 6, but opened at 5.55 just in case you were early.
4 of you walked in at 6.10 and I served your drinks myself. I was friendly but did explain i was concerned the rest of your group were not here. At 6.15 I asked if they were coming…oh..I think they are playing in the park with the kids, I’ll phone them…you said…It was now 6.30 still not here. Other guests started to arrive who also needed feeding.
When it’s as busy as it’s been it’s hard to keep up if customers are late.
We tried to fit you in, it was an incredibly busy night, but it didn’t seem like you really cared much about our challenges.
We did our best, but you weren’t much help either.
I’m sad to see the criticism of the food, given the great feedback we have received all summer, it’s a shame. It’s all home made and we are proud of what we serve.
We all work really hard to make this a welcoming pub and I hope the pressure of timings, which didn’t suit you, haven’t caused this overly destructive review.
We shall pick ourselves up and try and learn from this feedback.

Visited for the first time and wonder how it has taken so long to do so….as we live less than 20 minutes drive away.
A mid week meal with friends, was a great experience from start to finish. Relaxed and very welcoming throughout, the food was fantastic (we all had the pork belly off the special) and the portions generous, finished with a selection of the homemade desserts.
Needless to say the second visit will not take as long to happen as the first did!

We booked for dinner on a Saturday night and couldn't have had a better experience. Everything was spot on. The owners are extremely friendly, the waiting staff charming and the food is top notch - pub grub at its finest, reasonably priced. My Thai chicken curry was made extra hot on request and was lip-smackingly delicious. My partner's rump steak was huge and cooked to juicy perfection. A shared bread and butter pud was a delight, given a frisson with a hint of orange zest. Yum. And they're dog-friendly too! We'll be back!

Amazing food & great service at this beautuful pub. Unfortunately due to covid & weather it was only open for take away, but still managed to provide 5 star meal & faultless service despite the restrictions. We enjoyed both the Forresters & Ravensburger burger, also veggie curry on Saturday night, and an outstanding Sunday lunch the following day, all reasonably priced.
Looking forward to returning when this fantastic pub is fully open.

The best steaks we have ever tasted, served with chips, mushrooms, peas and onion rings, absolutely delicious. Lovely old pub in an idyllic setting. Dog friendly too. The owners also allowed us to stay in our Motorhome in the car park overnight.
Fantastic walks nearby alongside the river and up through the forest, world class cycling tracks, looked excellent fun.

After reading the brilliant reviews, we decided to book here for a family 70th Birthday celebration lunch. We were certainly not disappointed!
We had a lovely welcome and were very well looked after. There was a wedding reception on at the time in another part of the pub but we didn’t hear it at all, and it didn’t disrupt food waiting times whatsoever.
The food was absolutely lovely, and we were well catered for especially with two of us having food allergies, nothing was a problem at all.
The pub is really lovely, full of history and in a stunning location.
Thank you to all at the Forest Arms for making our special lunch so lovely, it was our first visit but certainly won’t be our last!
We highly recommend it, and can’t wait to go back.

Highly recommend . My nephew and I were accommodated last minute for a really lovely Sunday lunch at the very welcoming Forest Arms, having been let down by another nearby restaurant. The food was excellent and many other families/friends looked to be enjoying the fare there too. Well worth the cross country road trip from Llandovery. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

You drive through beautiful countryside to reach this welcoming pub. We went for lunch which was absolutely delicious. Large portions and all the vegetables and trimmings you would expect for a traditional Sunday pub lunch. Beautifully refurbished historic building. Charming staff who were particularly helpful to my disabled 94 year old Mum. This is a wonderful country pub giving you the best of Welsh hospitality!
