We ate at 55 Degrees on Friday 24th February and we were made to feel really special from the minute we entered the restaurant by what I have to say we're the friendliest staff I have encountered in a restaurant in a long time. The table we had was fantastic with a great view over the ocean. The food was... More

We only wanted a burger and chips but we're told we had to pay for the 3 course meal deal . The option given was to have a small glass of wine included . The burger and chips were ok but the wine was undrinkable . Made the £13.95 we paid a very expensive burger and chips !

We were here last night with a group of ~40 people. Having booked for 5pm we were seated and our table got the drinks order taken straight away. We were waiting a while and chatted to the table next to us whose drink order still wasn't taken around 5.20. One of our group went up to the bar to ask... More

Cost good, food good but you would struggle to find a worse place regarding service. Entered premises first at 5pm Drinks order taken 5:05. Only got them at 5:30 because one of us went up to check where they were and the bar guy said he hadn't even looked at our docket. Could not get any waiting staff to visit... More

They rushed us through the meal. I hadn't put the fork down on my main before I got asked by 3 different waitresses was I finished. Sauce for the stir fry was clearly out of a jar and I would doubt was vegetarian as it definitely felt as though it had gelatine in it. Not a good experience.

There is the upstairs (road level) restaurant which we have eaten in and food was only Ok. Prefer the downstairs (promenade level) coffee and snack bar which presents tasty lunches and tray bakes. Bonus for dog walkers is the extensive heated outdoor seating area where you and your pooch can have lunch after a bracing walk on the beach.

We've always enjoyed Portrush much, much more in the winter months given all the rougher element (who visit there in summer and on public holidays) are gone and it also means the restaurants are slightly less crowded. Portrush is a sweet little goldmine for great food and 55 North sits well with the best of them. You've usually to wait... More
