Lunch today was absolutely gorgeous. The beef was so tender it melted in the mouth. Great service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The Royal Oak is a great local pub - mismatched chairs and tables making sure it keeps its authenticity - you know you are not in a generic chain. Specials menu's on a Thursday are brilliant value for money - very large portions - freshly...cooked and tasty. Ruth and team are a great friendly sociable team. We've been told that the Sunday lunch is excellent - which if anything like the Thursday - we really should go. Great place to either eat or drinkMore
Popped in for a beer while fishing near by staff very polite and helpful prices ok , Gents toilet floor very wet and smells bad other wise would been excellent and five out of 5
I highly recommend the Royal Oak. They serve the most delicious Sunday roasts and they cater for all requirements. The food is wonderfully fresh. I suggest booking as it’s very popular
This is a definite pub we will be going back to, and if we had just moved into the area, we would been regulars straight away...the staff and regulars were so lovely and friendly. We arrived very late for food as we had been out...visiting local attractions during our holiday in the area, so were lucky they were still serving. we went into the little back garden as it was a lovely sunny evening and the locals in the garden chatted to us straight away. We ordered food and although they had just run out of the food one of us ordered (it was the daily special Chilli con Carne not one of the regular items on the pub menu), the staff and landlady apologised and said they would give us an 'adapted' daily special, that ended up being a massive board of food, all the chicken tacos and fajitas we could possibly eat, a huge salad each and a huge bowl of chips each, all for no extra charge (Emma's meal is in the photo attached!). Finally after a few drinks we went to say goodbye and even then they said oh come along Saturday there are loads of events going on and come in for food and drinks. Sadly we were headed home the following night. BUT such a nice welcome to two strangers in their pub. WE WILL BE BACK. Mark and EmmaMore
First time here for Sunday lunch and it will definitely not be the last. Staff were brilliant Food was above and beyond, best roast beef I have had at any restaurant Good atmosphere excellent choice of beers and wine, highly recommended
Outstanding Sunday lunch today, me and my partner had the beef which melted in mouth and even my 9yr old son demolished his plate of beef and perfectly cooked veg. Highly recommend 👌
We were part of a party of 20 who had a Christmas dinner today and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Everything was so well organised and all the meals were served in a timely fashion. The food itself was top notch and...all washed down with well kept ales and quality wines. Thank you to the Oak’s staff for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.More

One of our party booked the pub because the reviews for food were good and we weren't disappointed Hosts very friendly in a traditional pub Great value Sunday Roast with a good amount of great tasting food Fully recommend & will definitely visit again when...we are in the areaMore
Needed food, saw this pub and thought I’d give it a go. It doesn’t looked particularly special from the outside, nor is it particularly special on the inside, but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was second to none. Everyone was so lovely and personable....It really makes a difference when waiters/waitresses make an effort to try talk and engage with you. I know it’s not always possible and appropriate, but when it works, it really works. You could tell the team here were close knit and enjoyed their jobs (If they didn’t, they were fantastic at hiding it). I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have a menu online, I always like to peruse before I choose a place, but perhaps the mystery was what I needed. The lunch menu was comprised of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, ‘proper’ cheese on toast, scampi, ham egg & chips, scrambled eggs with salmon on toast, omelette and some other items I fail to remember. I saw some sandwiches floating around and they looked mega - a thick wedge of bread with a lashing of filling. Brill. I got a ham and tomato omelette with chips and salad. Oh boy, it was under ‘light bites’, it was neither light or a bite. It was massive (no complaints). The omelette had plenty of both ham and tomatoes and was seasoned well. It was a little bit, wet(?) inside. I put it down to the oil or butter they used to cook it in, but that was my only question mark. The chips were fat and crisp but had a fluffy and comforting middle. The salad was vibrant and dressed with balsamic. I was very pleased with the salad, I think there is a tendency to just throw lettuce, tomato and onion in a bowl and call it done (& disappointing). But, not here! A variety of leaves, tomatoes, onions AND cucumber. A very decent effort and one that was appreciated. Would wholeheartedly recommend this little place if you’re in the area, good for families and a catch up. But not for that special evening out or first date.More
Great pub, amazing Sunday lunch, lovely atmosphere, outstanding hospitality. Ruth and her team do an outstanding job of looking after you whatever day of the week it is. Can thoroughly recommend.
Absolutely faultless experience for Sunday lunch. Very accommodating for our large group of 11 - food was excellent, staff very friendly and attentive. Great selection of beer (4 real ales and, I think 4 different lagers). Highly recommend.
