We were taking our "back route" to avoid the A303 on the way to Devon on a Friday and we're looking for a pub to have lunch, unfortunately the ones we saw on the way were closed or closing down. However we espied The Woolpack Inn which we had never really take any notice of before but thought let's give... More

This was our second visit to this friendly country pub and we decided to go all out and try their infamous fresh dressed lobster (which we ordered when making our reservation). For two very fussy seafood eaters - I can honestly say it was one of the best lobster meals we have ever had. The lobsters came with a huge... More

Called in one Tuesday evening. Two or three locals at the bar chatting to two barmaids. They all fell silent and stared at us as we approached the bar. I got the feeling they resented us interrupting their conversation. Woman who served me was not welcoming or friendly at all. I could feel her hard stare as I leaned across... More

I am truly sorry for such an awful experience, I will be speaking to our members of staff to make sure this never, ever happens again. We pride ourselves on our reputation of a warm welcome and friendly staff , which clearly you did not receive, I can't apologise enough and hope you will give us the benefit of the... More

First visit but certainly not the last. The service and quality are genuinely excellent and I would recommend The Woolpack to anybody.

The welcome was warm and there was a vibrant atmosphere in the bar when we arrived. The wood burning stove made it very cosy indeed. We had the window table in the bar which is lovely as you get a view down the village high street. Bread and olives as a starter were top notch. I had a King Prawn... More

The Woolpack is one of several excellent pubs in the Wylie Valley. In the small pleasant bar there is a warm welcome and a fine selection of beers as well as a surprisingly comprehensive wine list. My wife and I both chose the roast beef. The portions were generous and the dishes were very well presented. The service was friendly,... More

Varied menu, friendly helpful staff, all options can be edited to your requirements (I have coeliacs and was 32 weeks pregnant) Comfy seating away from main bar. I had the guinea fowl which was so delicious I wanted seconds and my partner had the sausages in onion gravy which he found scrummy too. £54 for 4 drinks, 2 mains and... More

Super Food. Good selection of wines at affordable prices. I have been visiting this pub for over 50 years and the food has never been better than right now.

I had dinner as part of a party of 25 people - a rare family get together. The Woolpack organised things so we could all sit together. The staff were friendly and helpful, we were made to feel really welcome. The food was fantastic, I had Sausages & Mash with Onion Gravy, & a Raspberry Sorbet on a Brandy Snap... More
