If you want top end pub food, I can’t think of a better choice in the area. Seasonal food, great choice, good portioning and most importantly, delicious.

The Longs Arms is an outstanding Michelin-star pub in a beautiful, quaint village. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday - he is vegan and the chef was amazing is preparing vegan options when we let them know in advance, which were so delicious...and made us feel so welcome. The pub itself is beautiful and rustic with a fire burner. We highly recommend the drive over for a meal if you are staying in the Cotswolds, Bath or Wiltshire area - you will not be disappointed! We stayed at the adjoining Airbnb, The Piggery, which we also highly recommend!More

We dined as a large family, ranging in age from their twenties to their eighties, and everyone raved about the delicious food whatever had been ordered. The staff at The Longs Arms are incredibly caring and patient, and made the birthday lunch so special. Special...thanks to them.More

Fantastic Take-Away. Two venison pies with butter mash, red cabbage & gravy. Absolutely delicious! The pie especially...it was packed with the most tender melt in your mouth meat. It was all well packaged and was ready bang on the time I requested. For the quality...of food we thought it was real value for money. A lovely and delicious way to end the weekend. Thank you so much.More

I had a bad feeling about this place. Enough excoriating reviews amongst the praise to get my sceptic buds tickling. My partner had been recommended so we booked lunch. First thing I noticed was the smell of cooking in the carpark. It was not the..."ummmm" type of cooking smell at all. The place was empty, bar us and a table of 4 (next to us) so zero atmosphere. A great deal of the responsibility for what I ate lies with me. The ingredients were on the menu, and despite doubting Dover sole, beef shin ravioli, broccoli, pink fir potatoes could ever work, I thought I'd see if they could pull it off. It was far worse than I envisaged. It looked revolting when put in front of me, but tasted worse. There were about 7 small ravioli sitting on the broccoli, with the potatoes underneath. 2 sad little soul fillets sat curled up and colourless atop the lot. It was all sitting in water (from the veg) mixed with a very strong beef stock. I wager the ravioli was bought in, and if it wasn't, then the chef can't make them. The spuds had long seen "pink" - they were dark brown and shriveled up. The overwhelming flavour was too-thick pasta with pungent beef overwhelming everything. The sole never stood a chance in hell, but even that was overcooked and drab. The veg was hot, the fish tepid and the ravioli, cold. So I should have known better, but still. This is utterly terrible food and it's a long, long time since I had anything so dire. £35.00. If was just down to food (and his haddock and chips which was fine) then I'd be giving a little more slack. The service was diabolical too. Once the food was on the table, that was it. Not a soul to ask if the food was ok, or if we wanted another drink. Likewise for the next table. After staring at dirty plates for several minutes, he went off to find someone, as I wanted drink and he a dessert. All I will say is there followed a prickly encounter. We changed our minds and asked for the bill. I think it was one of the proprietors who brought it. She asked if we'd enjoyed the meal, and I was honest. She said "it's a classic pairing but obviously not to your taste". Been eating in hi-brow to lo-brow places for 40 years and never come across it. Neither has Google, btw. I think it's more a chef who's woefully out of his depth.More

I was very disappointed by my visit to the Long Arms, maybe they were having a bad day, however, I can only base this review on my experience on the day. I had haddock, chips and mushy peas from the pub grub section of the...menu, and this was all it was, no better or worse than any of the hundreds of fish and chips I’ve eaten in pubs over the years. My dining companion had a Sole and beef ravioli dish which simply didn’t work as a combination. When he mentioned this to the lady who took our payment at the end - and was the only one to ask how everything was- he was told it is a “classic “ dish, apparently. The biggest let down in this establishment, however, was the service which was distant, quite literally. The food arrived but was not followed up by ‘Can I get you anything else’ or ‘Is everything alright?’ and our waitress disappeared. We wanted another drink and so I had to go in search of the waitress to ask; I didn't receive an apology just a passive aggressive exchange. The pudding menu sounded good and we had intended to have a couple plus more drink but I was so irritated by the service that I suggested to my companion we just leave. Thus the pub lost our extra spend because of the service. There is another Long Arms about 6 miles down the road and I can’t help thinking we may have had a better experience if we’d kept on driving.More

We came here with friends for Sunday lunch. Beautiful pub and dog friendly. The time we went it was very busy and I can imagine a reservation is a necessity! In terms of food - I had a swede and haggis tart for my starter...- this was very pleasant. The roast was also of a good standard and everything had been cooked well. Both for the starters and main meal some elements of our dishes were cold/not hot which was a pity. And we did find the wait between starters and dinner to be rather long. However, all in all I’d come here again.More

First time visitors. Am so annoyed with myself despite living relatively so close to this place have only just tried it. Food was really excellent. Service the same. We are not a straightforward family (an intolerance, a vegetarian and a vegan to cater for), but...nothing was a problem. Yes it is “pub food” but way, way better. Visited on a Sunday night and the full menu was on offer which is unusual. Portions generous. Everything was beautifully presented, even the side order ‘snacks’. Highly recommended!More

This has to be one of our favourite places for a delicious meal. The welcome is always warm, the food is terrific , you are never rushed . This is no ordinary pub, this is deliciousness on a plate. What could be nicer? I will...not wax lyrical as you need to discover this place for yourself but do book in advance or face disappointment. A real gem with lovely people who amazingly remember their returning customers and can tell where they sat each time they visited.More
