Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Disappointed when breakfasts arrived without a hash brown as listed on menu. When questioned, waitress advised had ran out. Once our order had hit the kitchen and you realised you were out of hash browns I would have expected someone to let us know and...offer us an alternative item. This did not happen. Can only assume you were hoping we would not notice the missing item. After I pointed out the missing hash brown and asked if I could have another item in its place, I was only offered mushrooms, which I politely declined as I don't like them. You happily charged us full-price for our incomplete breakfasts even after we mentioned it again to the chap who rang it through the til. Customer service needs improvement if you want repeat businessMore

Nice food, nice cafe but the sausage were very tough, couldn't bite through the skin! Husband is coeliac, but they sent out his gluten free breakfast then said it had been cooked in the same pan as gluten-containing items so had to send it back....Waiting staff all very good.More

Called for lunch on Monday 13th November. We both chose a bacon, Brie and cranberry panini and requested that the bacon was crispy as neither of us liked uncooked fat. When the food arrived most of the fat had been cut off. What remained was...virtually raw. Very little Brie and cranberry inside, plus there was one small strip of bacon inside one half of both paninis. We complained to a very pleasant waitress who left to consult with the manager. We were told the kitchen had cut off all the fat, which they hadn’t, and that the bacon was put into the panini raw (pre prepared we were told) and was then cooked on a sandwich toaster. Regardless of the fact we had left the majority of the paninis we were charged full price. The manager didn’t show his face and left it to the embarrassed waitress. Obviously won’t be returning.More

Smashed avocado, tomato salsa and poached egg for breakfast. Can’t fault, lovely food cooked fresh. Coffees are great too - lovely little spot.

I've visited over half a dozen times in the last 12 months and this is the first time under the new ownership and how disappointed we were. The menu is a third of the size of the old one which has lost all of the...fantastic pies and pastries. Prices have increased dramatically for smaller portions and less quality ingredients. The breakfast is no longer served all day. The burger is now only a single burger which is no longer served with bacon or coleslaw. We booked for a Saturday lunch as we know how busy this place can be and it was half empty as it looks like all the regulars have already abandoned ship as its lost all its charm. This was a little gem where many regulars would travel miles as its a little out the way but unfortunately I won't be returning as its now average at best. Such a shame.More

We travel 20 minutes regularly for an all day breakfast mostly. We work night shifts so an afternoon breakfast was ideal. Breakfast no longer served all day so had the burger. The burger was yummy but sadly other little bits let our visit down, like...forgetting our cheese off the burger, no longer comes with coleslaw. Cup of tea is now standard teabags and we used to enjoy the proper tea leaves. Staff were friendly but didn’t seem confident in what they were doing yet. The new menu is disappointing, seems to offer less but for more money, we always said the old menu should of been a pound or two more, but not more for less food and options. We sadly won’t be making the journey to travel anymore. So sad this has changed, from one of our favourite places to a very average experience.More

Although the food took a while to come out, the staff were incredibly friendly and sympathetic. Love the food too, been a few times in the past month.

I’m not sure why new owners would change such a successful eatery? Slimmed down menu, breakfast menu only before 12 noon, prices up considerably and if I’m not mistaken new staff which weren’t great. The menu didn’t include the lasagne, very little choice unless you...wanted a sandwich with crisps for the price of a main meal with previous owners. You’re missing a trick with timing of breakfast, previously you’d see groups of younger people enjoying a good value breakfast after 12 noon and I’m sure you’ll lose custom over this. Prices have shot up and I know you’ve done a lot to the site but don’t make loyal customers take the hit. The fish and chips were very nice but my partner had the goats cheese salad and I’m sorry but what a rip off! Not worth the price, not a lot on the plate. All in all you’ve changed so much that we won’t be returning which is sad because we’ve been very regular customers but with points raised above it’s not worth the drive out anymore. I’m really not sure you’d change things so much, one previous review said “if it’s not broke why fix it? “ and they’re bang on. Hope I’m wrong but time will tell.More

My Mum is Gluten Free and had lots of choice even Fish and Chips which is unheard of in a lot of places. She chose the burger for a changed and loved it. My Dad had the pie which had lots of filling in. He...asked for Mushy peas instead of the salad and the staff were very happy to adapt the dish for him. Me and my Son had the Fish and Chips which was very nice and filling. My daughter had the kids Pasta which she loved and was a plentiful portion. We will definately be back again as there are lots of other dishes I would love to try.More

What a beautiful little place....the staff were absolutely lovely, extremely friendly. The food was honestly the best we have had in a long time. The chocolate milkshake was to die for! And as for the produce in the farm shop...it was nice to see such...a variety of different items. We will be visiting again!More

My last review was 5* but unfortunately the whole menu has been slimmed down and changed for the worse. There are now none of the delicious pies or quiches that were our favourite. Fish and chips, the chicken with stilton sauce and the homemade lasagne...(all superb!) also disappeared, along with the all day breakfast. Instead of all meals being served all day there are now specific times for breakfast and lunch. The only salad was goat cheese, the cake selection is much smaller and we struggled to find anything we wanted so we drank our warm (not hot this time) latte and left. We won’t be returning :(More

This was at the top of our list of places to eat now it's crossed off altogether. The food was always delicious, plentiful and a good price but not anymore. There are no pies, fish and chips or jacket potatoes on the main menu. Lots...of items included bread which I don't eat. We asked for a homity pie and a meat pie which weren't on the menu. They did agree to cook them for us then charged us £3 per meal more than we paid the last time we ate here. Why this staggering increase? It's a farm shop cafe stop ripping off your customers. Such a shame that a once great little homely cafe with fabulous food has been taken over and changed into a run of the mill expensive cafe. The breakfasts here were superb but looking at the prices now I wouldn't pay it. Today it cost us over £30 for two pies salad(mine was gritty) one portion of chips and two coffee's. This would have cost us around £24 only a few months ago. The three stars are for the staff and coffee which was good. Because of the menu and price increases which are around £30% we won't be back.More

Have been here several times for lunch. To have Jacket potato with various delicious fillings usually. Sadly these had gone from the new menu. I'd have liked smashed avocado but sadly that was only on the breakfast menu. I ordered a salmon and cream cheese...sandwich, which was okay but the filling was not very cold. The salad on the side had a very gritty bit which put me right off eating the rest. Prices have gone up too. If you are coeliac you would struggle to find something suitable now that no jackets. On the plus side the staff and environment are nice and the food was quickly prepared and drinks were ok.More
