Basically it’s a heated up sausage for about a tenner served, not with sauerkraut but a standard white bun out of a pack of four, with Dijon mustard!! on the side. For £4.50 you can get a pint of apple juice mixed with fizzy water, not a German beer unfortunately. So the two of us had that each and a bill of £31!

Oh dear..wrong facts I'm afraid. It's an Austrian gluten free sausage from Vienna served in a homemade finger roll £8. You didn't read the menu ..its Austrian mustard. £4.20 for the pint of drink. We can't please them all.

Been to Bakewell many times but never noticed this little gem of a coffee shop tucked away above a grocery store selling everything Austrian. After wandering round Bakewell, by mid morning we were looking for somewhere cosy for a hot drink to escape the wind and rain and were not disappointed. You enter via the shop which is tiny and every surface crammed with goods. Up the steep stairs to a warm and cosy room with an exposed beamed ceiling decorated with Austrian knick knacks and animal horns. After perusing the extensive menu of German sausage and coffee plus English essentials such as toasted tea cakes, scones and of course Bakewell tart, you ring the cow bell for table service. We ordered Yorkshire tea, hot chocolate with whipped cream and a toasted teacake. Food and drinks were delicious, delivered promptly with a smile. This is a family run cafe established in 1991. The owner is Austrian and we will definitely return fir lunch next time to try the apfel strudel made to his grandmother's recipe and the currywurst.

This is not a high end eatery; it is a lovely, atmospheric home from home. They sell wonderful toasties which are packed with filling, their sausages are delicious and served with genuine German mustard or Austrian curry ketchup, and a bowl of their hearty soup sets you up for the day. We have also tried their tea, coffee and hot chocolate; all very good! My nephew found this place and recommended it. We were not disappointed and have been back many times since, introducing several friends to the delights of Tiroler Stuberl. The owners and staff are lovely, and whenever we visit Bakewell, if they are open, they have our custom.

Rather disappointed after a visit here. We were looking forward to getting an Austrian sausage but after seeing one come out that looked like a 50p hotdog we decided against. Opted for a cheese toastie with sausage meat which arrived very basic, with raw onions (not grilled like we expected). I have had better toasties on a flight. If this is what Austrian food tastes like then I shall not be visiting Austria anytime soon! £20 for two toasties and one hot chocolate, expensive for the quality you get!

I’ve only lived in Derbyshire for a year and on my first visit to Bakewell I found this delight. Unfortunately mid lockdown so I wasn’t able to sample the cuisine for another three weeks. Half of my family are Austrian and I spent many a happy holiday in Graz and love the food. I informed my Dad whose mum was Austrian and we decided to give it a go as a family. The food was what I hoped for, amazing sausage and serving my all time favourite Almdudler to drink. I enjoyed every part of the meal and it took me back to my childhood in Graz. To top it off they have a shop downstairs selling all kinds of Austrian produce. A couple more bottles of the sugary sweetness purchased along with Senf and some Fittaten Suppe I’ll be back every couple of weeks to top up the fridge and cupboard, I’ll also pray one day they’ll be licensed and stock Puntigamer beer.(one can dream) Please call in if I’m Bakewell something out of the norm and great food.

Stopped here for lunch and a few of us ordered the ‘special smoky toasty’, billed on the menu as “probably the thickest and most juicy in town”. What arrived was cheap white toasted bread with a salami, cheese and raw white onion filling, dripping with grease. We actually laughed about how bad it was at the time and for the rest of the afternoon, so at £6.20 per sandwich we got entertainment value, if not the authentic taste of Austria we were promised! Suffice to say we wouldn’t return here. Perhaps it’s a sufficient tourist trap they feel there’s no need to bothered trying harder?

This toasty is one of the most popular and been serving it for 25 successful years. It is thickly filled with cheese ,onion and speciality, quality ,gluten free smoked meat from Vienna,Austria that all our customers love and return for. I found your review quite rude ,spoilt and childish. The grease you refer to is from the melted cheese...this is a hot toasty duh! Suffice to say you are not welcome back and they way you scoffed over something that was just not to your liking ,quite frankly showed yourselves up.

Sadly, I could not recommend, utterly disappointing. Although a warm and friendly welcome.........the menu description was not a reflection of the reality.........the food was unappetising, poor quality and grossly overpriced. Give this place a wide birth.

We definitely are not the place for you and likewise you are not for us. Renown for our quality of food and happy with our loyal appreciative customers of 29 years. We can't please all of the people all of the time.

Visited in the pouring rain with 2 large breed dogs, even though dogs were allowed inside, we opted to sit outside. The young waiting staff could not do enough to ensure we were kept dry and comfortable. Orders taken without rushing us, and we made an extra order of a sausage for the dogs, the staff again advising against our choice as they could offer a cold one for the dogs to have immediately. Lovely coffees, a teacake that was lush, and no skimping on the butter. The toasties was thickly filled with sausage and cheese. Fab location, excellent food, and for young waiting staff, all 3 on the day were friendly, efficient, and the owners must be proud of them

Found this little gem last year but didn’t have the time to visit. We were very happy to be able to go today and experience pure deliciousness. Walking into the restaurant there is authentic Austrian ornaments all around to keep the eyes busy and some wonderful yodelling music in the background, the servers shout “ring the bell when you’re ready to order!” when you go upstairs! Wonderful selection on the menu, we went for the cheesy spicy sausage, absolutely delicious and as if it was cooked on a coal BBQ! Highly recommend. We also tried some of the many coffees they have to order which were also fantastic and to end the caramel apple cake which was truly amazing. Couldn’t fault it here, fantastic service, environment and food. What more could you ask for?

Really friendly staff and delicious food! It was a very busy day with outside only seating due to Covid (there is normally seating inside). We had a pushchair with us and it was a little bit difficult to navigate around the tables because everyone was sat outside and it was one of the nicest days of the year so far. However, the staff were so helpful and gave us a choice of tables. There were some food / drink items that were unavailable due to supply issues- but this didn’t really impact the choice of options on the menu. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. There is some flexibility with the menu too if you do not want the meal exactly as stated on the menu. We were surprised that a few groups were seated at the restaurant, only to leave shortly after without ordering because the restaurant did not have the exact thing that they wanted. However, whilst slightly niche in is offering, the restaurant is very clear in what it offers and includes a menu before you enter. We had sausages and soup which were incredibly delicious, and we will be calling in here every time we come to Bakewell from now on. We even picked up some sausages to cook at home!

Save your hard earned money… popped by for a coffee and brunch, we found a table outside, nice umbrellas, shaded area that could be better, big rubbish bin near seating area,Dog friendly, which is quite annoying because of dogs barking when you’re trying to eat, ( ok not the owners fault) food, overpriced, service, okay,…If do you want a real German sausage experience find yourself ,I don’t know , perhaps in Germany or Austria or in a market in Manchester around about Christmas time …. you shall have a far better experience than you would have visiting this place ….over priced is not the word - look at the menu, (I will attach to this review.) we ordered toasties .. ( again, overpriced) having said that the coffee was delicious, mug could’ve been cleaner, we had to ask for extras, like ketchup, mustard, et cetera, when the food arrived, it looked like a bog standard white bread, cheap cheese, fair enough nice, but they didn’t even cut it for you! And what would be wrong with putting a bit of salad alongside? very - Germanic basic- Functional…. I probably wouldn’t go back there, I might nip to Lidl‘s on the way home because I’m sure I can get a better amount of sausages for 20 of them for the price they’re charging for one sausage! Toilets were another dimension….

Food was lovely, loved this place. The staff were so friendly and gave us a great service. Very accommodating for a gluten free diet, too and staff were clued up regarding cross-contamination. We were very well looked after.

Decided to try this unusual Austrian cafe for lunch. They specialise in importing sausages. Reasonably busy as Bakewell was thriving. We ordered a Braukverst and frankfurter. Well, the plates arrived ... a long thin sausage dumped onto a partially stale finger roll. No butter, sauce, dressing/garnish or anything. To say it was underwhelming is being polite...and then to charge £9.50 for the pleasure is disgusting! Definitely not recommended and won't be revisiting. Oh, and if you want service with smile, as depicted on the waitress service sign, then you will also be out of luck!

My partner and I ended up going to this restaurant twice during our stay in the Peak District because the Bratwurst was so good! You can also get bakewell pudding, in case you are feeling guilty for going to bakewell and not having this local treat. Staff are very friendly and good service. I think it is family run which is also lovely!

What a silly sausage I was! I never bothered to look at the reviews before choosing this place. Having not experienced an Austrian restaraunt for many years We decided to take lunch here. The rickety plastic tables on a stone slabbed courtyard did not put us off. We ordered two sausages and a toastie from the menu, and awaited our meal with anticipation. When it finally arrived I got two sausages on a plate, which in fairness is what I ordered, but that was it, nothing else just a dry white bread roll and two small packet portions of butter. No garnish, salad, vegetables just a white plate with two sausages. (£16.90). The Toastie was no better, just two slices of supermarket bread with a cheese and onion filling. As soon as I arrived home I checked Trip Advisor and sure enough there are similar reviews to mine, so it is not just me ! If you want European sausage, you really are better going to Lidl. I have not submitted a review for several years but felt that I had to on this occasion, an expensive mistake to make.
