Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don’t usually review but I felt disappointed with my experience here. The staff were friendly but the food was overpriced and nothing special. 9.50 for a Bratwurst and it was just on a plain, dry bread roll with not even any butter. It could...have had some garnish or something with it to warrant the price.More

Have been visiting this amazing place for years. Always a friendly welcome and fantastic home cooked authentic Austrian cuisine. Great quality food...I my favourite is the sausage and bean soup....it is unique and very tasty....and excellent value for all the work involved in producing these...tasty meals. Lovely atmosphere, great hosts and fast service. So happy to be able to take my dog inside too..!!More

What a silly sausage I was! I never bothered to look at the reviews before choosing this place. Having not experienced an Austrian restaraunt for many years We decided to take lunch here. The rickety plastic tables on a stone slabbed courtyard did not put...us off. We ordered two sausages and a toastie from the menu, and awaited our meal with anticipation. When it finally arrived I got two sausages on a plate, which in fairness is what I ordered, but that was it, nothing else just a dry white bread roll and two small packet portions of butter. No garnish, salad, vegetables just a white plate with two sausages. (£16.90). The Toastie was no better, just two slices of supermarket bread with a cheese and onion filling. As soon as I arrived home I checked Trip Advisor and sure enough there are similar reviews to mine, so it is not just me ! If you want European sausage, you really are better going to Lidl. I have not submitted a review for several years but felt that I had to on this occasion, an expensive mistake to make.More

The setting is gorgeous, the service was good but the food was blah, a cheese sandwich was just 2 slices of bread and grated cheese, it wasn't even cut in half, it was dry and there was no garnish or anything and it was £6....I could have made better at home. Avoid there are better places to eat.More

Very expensive for what was billed as authentic Austrian sausages. Two frankfurters served without any garnish and a bread roll. Best part of £20 😵‍💫. Never would review but felt a bit ripped off.

£8.50 for a hot-dog! "Surely not" I hear you say, that must have been some high-end hot-dog with all the extras. No, it was a single frankfurter, very much like any other, in a cheap and somewhat dry bread roll. Incidentally, a cafetiere of coffee...costs a staggering £10 or more.More

Decided to try this unusual Austrian cafe for lunch. They specialise in importing sausages. Reasonably busy as Bakewell was thriving. We ordered a Braukverst and frankfurter. Well, the plates arrived ... a long thin sausage dumped onto a partially stale finger roll. No butter, sauce,...dressing/garnish or anything. To say it was underwhelming is being polite...and then to charge £9.50 for the pleasure is disgusting! Definitely not recommended and won't be revisiting. Oh, and if you want service with smile, as depicted on the waitress service sign, then you will also be out of luck!More

I’ve been snowboarding in Austria for 20 years and have often commented to my friends, “why isn’t there an Austrian restaurant in the UK?!” Well, visiting Bakewell with my daughter today we stumbled across this little gem! It’s not a full Austrian menu but my...goodness the sausages are amazing! Not the cheapest but they have come from Austria. I love Goulash, but they only serve it in the winter. Hopefully I can talk my wife into a winter visit 🤞🏼 Lovely little stone cafe, lovely weather (when we visited) so sat outside in the sun. Lovely, thank you.More

Save your hard earned money… popped by for a coffee and brunch, we found a table outside, nice umbrellas, shaded area that could be better, big rubbish bin near seating area,Dog friendly, which is quite annoying because of dogs barking when you’re trying to eat,...( ok not the owners fault) food, overpriced, service, okay,…If do you want a real German sausage experience find yourself ,I don’t know , perhaps in Germany or Austria or in a market in Manchester around about Christmas time …. you shall have a far better experience than you would have visiting this place ….over priced is not the word - look at the menu, (I will attach to this review.) we ordered toasties .. ( again, overpriced) having said that the coffee was delicious, mug could’ve been cleaner, we had to ask for extras, like ketchup, mustard, et cetera, when the food arrived, it looked like a bog standard white bread, cheap cheese, fair enough nice, but they didn’t even cut it for you! And what would be wrong with putting a bit of salad alongside? very - Germanic basic- Functional…. I probably wouldn’t go back there, I might nip to Lidl‘s on the way home because I’m sure I can get a better amount of sausages for 20 of them for the price they’re charging for one sausage! Toilets were another dimension….More

Best tasting Bratwurst since the one we had Berlin. Absolute gem of a tea room nestled in the stunning village of Bakewell with lovely staff. All sausages were gluten free and a gluten free roll was also available.

What an absolute gem of a place which was highly recommended by my partner's brother. Straight away we were transported to Austria as we scoured the menu which offered authentic Austrian sausage based dishes alongside a section of Bakewell's local treats for those that aren't...so fussed on Austrian food. Fantastic choice of coffees that you simply cannot find easily elsewhere. We tried the Galapagos and Yemeni Mocca Matari which totally matched their descriptions and tasted spectacular - I savoured every drop. We then tried the spicy Käsekrainer sausage which came on a locally made long bun and we added mustard and ketchup to. The sausages speak for themselves and we were happy to pay £9 which we felt was more than reasonable for an imported sausage with real authenticity and flavour. The owners and staff were all really friendly and we loved the sausages so much we bought some Waldvierner and Kasekrainer ones to take home to make a casserole! We will definitely be going back soon and spreading the word about this amazing place. Thank you!More
