It says dogs are allowed in the courtyard but it does not appear to be open. Place was mostly empty yet they turn paying customers away. Went to the Upstairs Cafe opposite the Co-op instead where dogs are welcome and the food was great and...service very good.More

Correct, the courtyard is not open, and we don’t allow dogs inside the cafe.

Not been since before the pandemic. Visited a few times before then so was looking forward to going back. Had the classic Bakewell pudding to take away along with a Bakewell tart. Staff were friendly and helpful as always. Shame the Bakewell pudding was a...greasy, fatty mess when I heated it back at home. Need a gallon of gaviscon after eating it :(More

Visited Bakewell today and had to pick up a famous Bakewell Tart! It was as gorgeous as I remembered : ) around £6.50 for a full tart (6-8 slices also It only fed 4 in our house lol) also picked up a pasty and hommity...pie (never heard of this before) but it was a lovely veggie pie! The queue was about 20 mins but it was bank holiday weekend and it was soo worth the wait! Can’t wait to come back ; )More

Fantastic food. Great service. The ploughman’s lunch is to die for. A bit pricey but you pay for what you get a whole plate full

Visited twice this month (April) Once for coffee and tea cake and then another for lunch. Both times the food was lovely and excellent service given. The staff are very polite, respectful and hard working. We also bought some excellent Bakewell tarts and puddings prior...to leaving.More

We came in 15min before the shop closing. As a typical tourist, asked a few questions. The lady behind the counter not only made us feel like intruders, but also the way she was answering questions was very rude… However telling us to wait outside,...waiting for out takeaway coffees, in the rain and wind, was just outrageous! Not had a chance to try the pasties we’ve bought in there yet, though the food won’t make up for this kind of service. If you don’t want to or can’t work with people, give up hospitality, go work in a morgue!More

My sister and I enjoyed a lovely cream tea here yesterday. We remarked to each other how hardworking the staff were both in the shop and tea room. The scones were the best we’ve ever tasted! The service was impeccable and the premises kept very...clean and tidy. I dropped my knife and a clean was handed to me in seconds. We also bought two delicious bakewell puddings to eat at home.More

Busy shop on a busy high st. I found the lady serving behind the counter quite grumpy with some of the others queuing who may not have understood her as they were tourists. However, the food inside was superb!

Recently visited for breakfast and I ordered a sausage and tomato sandwich. I was presented with the strangest breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Two slices of bread with barely any sausage and raw tomatoes with a salad on the side. Not one to cause a...scene in front of other customers I just removed the tomato and ate the sausage sandwich, a quite bizarre mixture. One good point was the cappuccino which was delicious.More
