Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an event booked in for lunchtime today as it was our Granddaughter's dedication. We had a buffet lunch and cannot praise the chef (Jim) and manageress (Tracey) enough. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any photographs to go alongside this review. We had plenty of...wonderful food and nothing was too much trouble. We could pick our food which included an array of sandwiches, quiches, roast potatoes and pig in blankets. The food was fantastically prepared and presented. Some who have never been before really found the food exceptional. Many thanks for your great service today. If I could, I would give you 20/10. Be back soon.More

What an absolute joy this place is, those who work there are extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient and try so hard to ensure that you have exactly what you want. The Restaurant/Cafe is perfect as it is, the food is true value for money...without compromise, how anyone can fault here is beyond me. We visit on a fairly regular basis (3-4 times a week) and have seen coach loads of customers arrive who are dealt with quietly, politely and efficiently in a very short period of time. Yes, there is sometimes a problematic customer.. usually someone who has not read the signs, who queue up with the whole family, get into conversation and then have no idea what they want when asked, so now they stand and dither while they decide meaning that they bring the whole proceedure to a halt....then ..believe it or not..try and blame the staff when they could so easily give their order to their partner/family/friend then go and find a table, thereby shortening the queue. The food is spot on, it is a garden centre cafe afterall, not a Cordon Bleu restaurant charging astronomical prices for fancifully named messed about food, here it is good quality, well prepared and presented food at, as I said," extremely good value for money" prices. They even allow dogs into non carpeted area (understanable), this fine but there is sometimes the occasional irresponsible dog owner who think it's fine to let their animal cock their leg against the goods for sale then walk off without a second thought!!!! I know I have gone on a bit but I love this establishment, certainly the friendleist, best priced value for money Garden Centre I have ever visited. Keep up the good work.More

Visited today for a early Christmas lunch, as you can see from the pictures the table decorations were exquisite. Between the 4 of us, we tried all of the dishes and they were absolutely delicious. The portions were great and we all left stuffed. Our...waitress, Sharon, was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. Well done the head chef. Finally, would 100% recommend the meal but make sure you’re going feeling very hungry.More

I had a day out with my elderly parents and we were delighted with the meals that were served to us. I chose the quiche, my mum had scampi and chips and the men had a traditional breakfast. The meals came out really quickly and...we all really enjoyed our food. My partner and I had a cake each for dessert. My caramel flapjack was very sweet (just how I like it) and my partner really enjoyed the lemon meringue pie. We look forward to visiting again.More

Absolutely lovely garden centre, so much choice and well laid out. We also decided to treat ourselves to coffee and cake. It was our first time here as we were just passing through on our way home from holiday. The restaurant is very extensive and...the serving staff were delightful - so friendly and smiley. We found a nice table outside but were so disappointed by our cakes. I had an almond macaroon, but it was like a hard stale sponge with almond flavour - just horrible. But hubby's cream tea was even worse - the scone was big, which was initially impressive, but was as heavy as a brick and with a texture to match. It seemed as if it was several days old and so dense, heavy and stale. We joked that we would take it home as a door stop. We left both cakes, what a waste of money!More

As a couple we visit Tamar Nurseries once or twice a week. The restaurant food is always freshly cooked, served quickly and terrific value. The chips are the best I have ever tasted! We particularly like the option to have smaller sizes of several of...the dishes. The staff are friendly and pleasant and attentive. Added to this, there is a delightful garden centre that is not overly commercialised.More

Awful experience. Very expensive at over £8 for a jacket potato with beans and cheese. The cheese was powdery and doesn't melt. I had sausage egg chips and beans. Got half way through the pot of beans to find an old salt packet stuck to...the side and the bit ripped off the top sitting at the bottom. We told 2 members of staff and they just laughed. When hygiene standards were mentioned the lady just smiled. Awful serviceMore

What a delight this place is, it is by far the best cafe/restaurant in the area. They have the correct balance throughout the bussiness especially in the food hall. We frequent this estblishment 3/4 times a week and have been doing so for a long...period of time and never once have we been let down not even in their busiest moments, the food is always spot on and they go to the ends of the earth to ensure everthing is satisfctory for the customers. The staff are friendly, attentive and willing to listen if there is something wrong, I have seen customers who expect to be treated like Royality and they they are Fine dining and who are downright rude to the staff.. still get served in a polite and friendly manner...it amazes us!! I hope nothing changes here ...we love itMore

The meal we had yesterday in the restaurant at Tamar Nursery was excellent, fillet of bass cooked with baby tomatoes and capers. Superb and at £12.99 excellent value. In any other restaurant I would have expected to pay around £20. The restaurant also has a...wide range of cakes , pastries and ice creams for desert. We had to settle for the latter as our stomachs were fullMore

Don’t bother.Fish and chips for £11! The fish portion is tiny for that money and It is cheap Basa in my opinion. My fish wasn’t cooked all the way through so I sent it back and asked for Cod.The restaurant Manager came over and said...that the “Chef” had stated that the next portion would be the same so did I want him to cook it.I got a refund.I regularly eat. Cod and chips at my local chippy which is twice the size and thickness, cost less than £10 and is Cod not cheap Carp (Basa) farmed in the most polluted river in Asia.More

Staff were extremely flustered and abrupt? We felt an inconvenience! Not enjoyable at all. By the time we ordered and paid the coffee had gone cold. My friend has recently had an operation, one member of staff pushed a chair out from behind whilst clearing...a table knocking her chair quite forcefully and didn’t appear to even realise ? The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and there seemed more than enough staff to accommodate, so we could only think they had all maybe been given some bad news? I have been in the past and as much as the garden centre is great the cafe has always lacked something.More
