All of our food is freshly prepared in house by our talented brigade of chefs. We are lucky to be located in an area rich with excellent local produce. This is reflected in our menu’s that change seasonally enabling us to use ingredients when they are at there best. We offer a wide selection of meat and vegetarian meals, with a mouth watering desserts menu alongside a carefully chosen wine list to compliment your meals.
We was very disappointed with our stay because the car park is not in a safe place
The bathroom was not updated shower wasn’t working properly.
On the way out to the beer garden the path way was all uneven and in my mind not...safe to walk on .
The entrance wasn’t very good for first impression.
I will say the breakfast was good but apart from that nothing else.More

Hi. Thank you for the review.
It is a real shame that your recent visit was disappointing, and I will address a few things.
Regarding the car park, we rent this we do not own it. We rent the car spaces for residents, the garages...More
We stayed at the royal oak for one night ,14 june. This is a beautiful old pub with a modern slant. Our room no. 7 , lovely position overlooking the high street. Large extremely comfortable bed , top range bedding . Well equipped room with...all the facilities you would need with a very functional an suite complete with toiletries etc.We had been recommended to visit a local tapas restaurant for dinner so didn't eat in the restaurant , however the menu looked delicious and we would have gladly eaten in. Breakfast was delightful ,plenty of choice and very well presented , couldn't fault the food , however the coffee didn't impress. All in all I would recommend this hotel , it is perfectly placed in the centre of all the attractions , the only problem could be if you had mobility problems because there is no lift.More
My wife and I booked in here for a meal last night and on entering the bar I was pleased to see that they offered an excellent variety of drinks. We both ordered the steaks which we thoroughly enjoyed. In fact they were the best...steaks we have had for a very long time and we will certainly be visiting again.More
Day out in Ripon as a family. Popped in on Saturday for lunch at 1:20pm. Few drinkers in front bar and a couple of tables at back taken with families eating. Asked for table for 5 inside but told bookings due at 1pm and only...outside available. I asked as it was quiet if we could be accommodated but told no even though it was 20 minutes past 1! Went to take a look at seating outside as our 1st visit. Waitress wandered off and left us. Too windy and cold outside so decided to leave and waitresses/bar staff didn’t flinch. Gutted as read reviews on food and menu looks fab but we weren’t given an opportunity to try it. Service wise, we won’t try it again.More
I was highly recommended the Royal Oak by a friend who visited two weeks ago whilst on a blind date. She positively raved about the food so I thought it must be worth a visit.
My partner and I were not at all disappointed.
The...food was just outstanding! All elements of the dishes we ordered were bursting with flavour and finished with finesse. Everything on the plate seemed considered and nothing was overlooked. I was in food heaven. I didn't want the meal to end.
And so, I too would highly recommend visiting the Royal Oak for the food. Incidentally, my friend on the blind date went on to have subsequent dates. I think that enjoyable first meal created a positive ambience. The wonders of food!More
We were visiting Ripon Cathedral and the Royal Oak was conveniently just round the corner. Plenty of space on a Saturday lunchtime, helpful attentive staff, good choice on the menu, nice buzzy atmosphere (it was race day). We had the bang bang chicken salad and...the chicken club sandwich on warm ciabata, both very good.More
The pub was busy and we were pressed for time, being part of a coach party. Although the place was pretty full, the staff managed to squeeze us in. The food was good, though, and we enjoyed the onion bhaji with side fries, among the...range of vegetarian choices. The Royal Oak is well situated, near the Cathedral, and we would recommend it.More
3 of us had dinner here tonight, 1 x Crumbed Chicken, 1 x Sea Bass & 1 x Dirty Burger + drinks 1 x pint Amstel,
2 x Sauvignon Blanc & 1 x Shiraz. All of the food was very nice & tasty & there...was a lot of it, although most was eaten. The wine & beer were fine & the service was very good, helpful, friendly & not too intrusive. The cost was very acceptable & we will use again now that things are getting more normal & would certainly recommend to our friends & family. :-)More
