I went up to Ripon with my parents to celebrate the end of my university exams and booked here as the early bird menu looked good, i had deep fried prawns for my starter and chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce for my main,...both were absolutely delicious with a generous portion to matchMore

One of my families favourite places to eat, we’ve been going back for years and yet to have a bad meal! Very generous menu and everything we’ve tried has been delicious.

I was down in Ripon with my husband, and we went here for our evening meal, as we saw online they did Gluten Free food too. It was absolutely brilliant from the minute we walked in. Really nice set up, very welcoming, staff were very...friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, just lovely, house wine was really good, I will definitely go there again, if I get the chance to visit Ripon again xxMore

This restaurant is our ‘go to’ spot when in Ripon. Not only is the food great and reasonably priced but the service is excellent. It is always full of lively, busy Italian atmosphere - we just love it. My Lobster ravioli was as gorgeous as...I remember it from last time, served with a superb rocket salad. Hubby had a delicious salmon risotto and followed it with a banana concoction that he will long remember! We were entertaining two friends who live locally and also speak highly of the place. Thank you for a lovely evening Prima Team, we will definitely return.More

I was invited by some friends who often visit this restaurant and always spoke highly about it. It was my first time dining at Prima's and although the menu is quite extensive, I chose a simple pasta dish with tomato sauce, some vegetables and with...what was supposed to be salami. I was expecting all ingredients to be from Italy, instead I was presented with an overcooked dish of penne pasta, covered in a cheap passata sauce, with added strips of peppers, added at the last minute and still raw. There was the occasional slice of salami, the cheap type that one can find on a cheap pepperoni pizza. I even came across a couple of ham cubes, certainly being plucked straight out of a packet. Since the place is run by an Italian family, I except the pasta to be AL DENTE, perhaps slightly overcooked, but for sure not so overcooked that one struggles to eat it. Another disappointing thing was the drink I had ordered: I asked for a San Pellegrino lemon. The menu states it comes in a can. I was handed a glass with a soft drink that, in my opinion, was not San Pellegrino Lemon. I was not served the can and a glass, as it usually happens. Again the drink did not taste like the original San Pellegrino brand, it was more like a supermarket bought bitter lemon with a chemical aftertaste, perhaps a light version of the original soft drink. The only nice thing was the ice cream served in the Affogato dessert. The restaurant was full and very noisy. We sat upstairs among two large parties of diners and it was difficult to have a conversation with my two friends. What a pity that this so much awaited evening out could not live up to expectations for me.More

We booked as a group of friends to celebrate one of the party's special birthday and all the birthdays etc we had missed during covid lockdown. I have coeliac disease and must eat Gluten Free foods I asked the waitress if there was a seperate...GF menu and was told any of the pizzas could be made with GF base she said she would find out which pasta dishes were available then never came back. However I do not eat meat and usually order a salmon tagliatelle in Italian restaurants but this was not on the menu here so it didn't bother reminding her. The only GF option on the starters was garlic mushrooms which I do not like so I had to sit and watch while everyone else had a starter. For main there was a cod dish on the specials board but had sauce but no information if it was GF so I asked for just the piece of roast fish without all the other items listed but with some sauted potatoes which were GF and vegetables. When the orders came I was brought the fish dish but as it was described on the board I explained what I had ordered + why so the waiter took it back to the kitchen then brought it back to tell me chef says it has no gluten in. I pointed out irrespective of that fact it was not what I ordered then someone else who I think was the manageress then came out to tell me that was the last of the fish so I ordered a pizza which was cooking while everyone else on the table were eating so again I'm sitting watching. While I was waiting the potatoes + veg arrived so I told them to take them away and advised I would not be paying for them so to remove from the bill. I have to say the pizza was nice but by then I was quite hungry. When we got the bill each couple calculated what they owed and paid then as we were at the door to leave we were asked to come back as there was approx £30 short on the bill. We had been on a table upstairs where there was another birthday party + a table of 4 we were the last to leave though there were still diners downstairs so we suggested going back upstairs where it was quiet but the manageress insisted we stand around a table downstairs in front of the staff and diners and each couple had to itemise what we had and how much we paid. It transpired that the other table had ordered drinks to the value of the shortfall so she blamed "him" for putting them on the wrong bill but offered no apology to us for her attitude and for embarassing us by not agreeing to speak in a more private area. We will never returnMore
