Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great place to break your journey, only a couple of minutes off the A1. We've been making an annual stop there for some years now. Excellent fish & chips, cooked in beer batter and astonishingly light. Good cask ale too (3 or 4 pumps)....Nice staff and chatty locals. Super dog friendly inside plus a nice beer garden.More

We booked last minute for coronation Sunday. Although short staffed they fitted us in. We were treated to table service for everything. Even the dog had her water bowl brought to the table along with a bag of biscuits! The roast beef was wonderful and...we all reckoned it the best we'd had and great value for money. The staff were very friendly and more than helpfull.More

Unpretentious home cooked pub grub at a reasonable price. Plenty of choices for carnivores and vegetarians. Pies have delicious light crisp pastry with plenty of filling. This is a Freehouse. Within easy access of Ripon. Highly recommended

As 3 strangers in the village we had a very warm welcome from the friendly bar man. The restaurant area was lovely, daffodils on every table, offering a traditional menu, and our food arrived on piping hot plates! A very enjoyable visit, we would go...again if we did not live in Chester, Grantham and Tynemouth!More

We took a punt in coming here for a Sunday roast after looking at reviews for this establishment, and many others locally, with our children. The food was absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. We were also impressed with the kids meal option. We...will definitely return!More

We came for new years day as we were staying nearby and I had googled best Sunday lunch in Ripon, and this was top. I am so glad we did! Everything was perfect, food was amazing, nice big portions, plenty of selection and the desserts...were to die for! The gentleman serving was just lovely and couldn’t have done enough for us. We are staying local again for Easter and will be sure to book a return visit!More

Very welcoming, friendly and very good prices. Dog friendly. The dog treat packs were a lovely touch. Brilliant tasting food (we had the pork and beef roasts). Puddings were also brilliant. Staff member Luke was fantastic. We highly recommend.
