On arrival i was surprised to find 2 men in the window inside doing electrical repairs on a Saturday night? although this didn't have any effect on my table or meal it was strange, they did walk the ladder out through the full restaurant an hour later. Anyway food, great shared starter, fresh and flavourful and well presented. the mains were also superb, i had the char grilled lamb, superb!! Drinks were also reasonably priced, and the Efes lager was served as a perfect ice cold temperature. Now the sweets, on ordering we asked id the cheesecake was made in house, it wasn't the only deserts that were, was the rice pudding and Baklava, which is what we ordered, the rice pudding was very milky with not a lot of rice in it, quite disappointing, after the starter and mains! After visiting many Greek and Turkish hotels, i would say that the baklava they served wasn't a patch on what i'd had abroad!

We were visiting the area and exploring the town to find somewhere to eat. Lydia Turkish Kitchen looked inviting and was busy for a Sunday evening, which was a good indication, so thought it was worth a go, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We were warmly welcomed, our waiter was extremely helpful whilst we were choosing a bottle of wine (the Angora was a perfect choice), and we felt very well looked after. The lamb and chicken shish were cooked perfectly, and were top quality meat. Cannot fault any of the food any of us ordered, and we were surprised what good value the whole meal was too. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

We spent our anniversary in Sudbury and looked for somewhere nice to have an evening meal. NOTHING disappointed, - what a gem of a place! As soon as we walked in it felt it was going to be a great experience. The decor, the lighting, the smell of the food - all just wonderful. The ambience was lovely, quite full but not overcrowded or too close to anyone else, with a cool vibe of quiet chitter chatter that gave life to the whole restaurant. Service was excellent, polite, friendly, timely but unhurried, and the staff looked very smart in their waistcoats. They were engaging with just the right amount of interaction and were knowledgeable about the menu and able to give great recommendations. The food was amazing, perfectly cooked and full of taste. I haven't given a review for a while but felt I could not overlook how good Lydia and it's staff and food are. Go if you can you won't be disappointed. Well done Lydia and thanks for making our anniversary meal just perfect!

Arrived at 7pm for my table and they couldn’t find my booking not the best start. Was sat down at 7:15pm the restaurant was quite busy and the tables seemed very close together defo not 1 metre apart. Ordered food starters came very quick had calamari and hummus which were ok nothing special. As the kids were eating there starters their main courses arrived and were shoved in front of them. Our mains arrived and wasn’t served with any rice which I have never ever encountered in any Turkish restaurant and being Turkish I was shocked. Was then given some salad which was very poorly presented. Asked for bread for the kids request was ignored ordered 2nd round of drinks never came and was on the bill. Two members of staff loudly arguing in the restaurant. Was very rushed and definitely wouldn’t bother returning. No Turkish tea offered no complimentary dips or bread. Overall shocking excuse for a Turkish restaurant who don’t seem to have any customer interest. Work on your Covid measures as you are putting customers at risk!!!

Dropped in last Wednesday with my partner, on her recommendation, and enjoyed one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time. The food was wonderfully fresh, tasty and authentically reminiscent of the meals I have enjoyed when travelling in Turkey. Service was very efficient and polite and the nice touches of complimentary Turkish Tea/coffee and Turkish Delight made the meal. Many thanks, we will be back!

We had a rare couple of nights away without our kids. After looking on trip advisor decided to book Lydia’s. We were not disappointed. Had a hot meze starter which was freshly prepared. The waiter helped us choose our wine which was a Turkish red which was lovely and complimented our main course of chicken Shish & Lamb shish perfectly. Finished off with a Turkish tea. Great service, lovely staff & really good food. We will definitely be back soon. Thankyou

I visited this lovely restaurant last weekend with my wife and our friend. The place has a very Mediterranean ambience and very friendly staff, who have a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. It was the second time I have visited the restaurant. The first was just after the first lock-down. As we ordered our food, we got plenty of complementary flat bread with two sauces; one spicy tomato, the other creamy with herbs. The menu has a lot to choose from and has lots of variety. The dishes are mostly lamb or chicken, but also offer vegetable choices too. There is a selection just for fish. I honestly can't really find a fault with the place. If you want a quiet, romantic time with a decent menu and tasty food, look no further. I would highly recommend the sea bass.

Following the failure of the kitchen oven at a local hotel we were pitched out to find somewhere to eat at the last min. Lydia and her staff came to the rescue. We have never been to a Turkish restaurant before so we’re apprehensive. The Man and wife owners took us in hand and helped us feel comfortable and welcome. The service from all the staff was superb. The menu clear and varied but most of all the food was excellent. With a bottle of wine and just one dish from the main menu it came to less than £50. We were so impressed we gave then £10 tip. If you are in Sudbury please try this lovely Turkish delight just a few doors down from the market place car park. Don’t be put off by it being a Turkish restaurant, as you will miss a treat

We ate there on a Tuesday evening, extremely welcoming, clean throughout and very tasty food reasonably priced. Our hostess (Lydia?) knows how to make a brilliant Pimm's. Highly recommended, would definitely go there again.

Had a table booked for 8.00, not ready. Sat at 8.10. Ordered at 8.20, had starter. Garlic prawns were lemon prawns not garlic prawns. At 9.10 was told that one of the mains we ordered was not available. Chips did not arrive. Staff were trying but overly busy and couldn’t cope. No concern shown from the poor experience received. Extremely disappointing.

We visited with friends, who we hadn’t seen since before Covid in March 2020. We had a lot of catching up to do. The restaurant was a good choice, and we tucked into the hot mixed meze starter (plenty for two), with lamb shish and kasap kofte for main courses. My wife enjoyed the shish, but I was a little disappointed with the kofte, feeling that the cheese made the taste akin to a cheeseburger. Sorry! Nice restaurant overall, but what spoilt it for our little party was the arrival of the main course at the point of finishing the starter; the waiter was hovering at the table whilst a colleague started clearing the plates. All we wanted was to sit and talk, but what the staff seemed to want was to process us through the meal and out the door as quickly as possible. Not that the restaurant was busy, as there were two other tables occupied when we arrived, and one other when we left. The rating reflects our experience of an evening spoilt by being rushed. Sort that and you’ll have a good experience.

Really awful experience. My sister left a review regarding the bad experience on her birthday meal, which was then replied to by the owner with lies. Saying the table of 16 was mostly children. There was 4 children and only 3 of them ate, hence the nearly £300 bill. If it was just kids meals with no starters as you keep complaining, then the bill would have been half the price. Also a lie saying he took the burnt chops off the bill, this is not true we had to pay for them. £17 and the meal was untouched. Out of 16 meals, one was sent back for overdone chops and the owner couldn’t stand the criticism. Not only this but the owner then proceeded to shout at the whole table asking if we think the chops are burnt in-front of 4 children, ruining every body else’s meal and experience. My partner just wanted to split the bill into 2 to pay and the man got aggressive about this, stating that we should go back to McDonald’s 🤣 regularly eat out as a large family and have split the bill such as at Alaz, star burger, prado, Toby carvery etc it’s never been an issue. Also my partner just asked if we get breads and dip as we have all eaten at the restaurant beforehand and got this whilst waiting for our mains ( when Maz owned) When the owner said no it comes with your main, my partner said no more. The smell of alcohol coming from him as he proceeded to shout at everyone was awful, clearly very drunk. Wife was so embarrassed and apologetic for his awful behaviour, as were all his other staff members. Never experienced such awful service and will never be returning. Should not have taken a table of 16 if you can’t handle it or handle 4 children being in the restaurant.

My friend and I visited and sat in the courtyard... The waitress seemed like she didn’t want to be there, the cocktails arrived after we finished our hot meze starter which was ok. A forgettable main course of chicken covered in tomato sauce. Wouldn’t bother to go back.

My partner and I visited last night for our evening meal. We didn't really know what to expect of a Turkish restaurant, but we were just so impressed! The restaurant itself is a feast on the eyes, with wall art and ornaments all around, and the kitchen is at the rear, on public view. We were warmly greeted and offered seats - it being only 6-ish, we had plenty of choice, but the restaurant got fuller as the evening went on. We were quickly served our drinks, and then left with plenty of time to peruse the very extensive menu, including a large number of vegetarian choices. We enjoyed olives and hummus to share as a starter, which came up with delicious warm pitta bread. My partner opted for the chicken and lamb kebabs, served with salad, bulgar, rice and coleslaw; I chose the sea bass with saute potatoes, salad and coleslaw. Our meals were plentiful and absolutely beautiful. So tasty. Sadly, we didn't have space for desserts, so finished with coffees. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We booked ahead for table of 16 for a birthday. There was an issue with one meal where the meat was all burnt .member of our party was really polite about an issue with their meal. Immediately the owner was very agressive and said that there was nothing wrong with it. We tried to politely point out what the issue was so that it could be resolved amicably but he continued to be agressive and shouted at the member of party to never come back again and that there wasnt anything wrong with it. Unfortunately his behaviour continued to be agressive so the rest of us tried to eat our meals as quickly as possible leaving half of it as we felt so uncomfortable and were unable to enjoy ourselves .we went downstairs to pay , again he had issues with this ! It probably didn't help that he was drunk as we could smell straight away. The food has really gone downhill since we last went 6 months or so ago. Just to add the wife of the owner was amazing and felt so embarrassed bless her as well as all the other staff were really apologetic and the wife apologised for his behaviour on us leaving.
