Crispy, delicious potato skins....... I would have been happy with just those they were so good. The chowder was thick, creamy and piping hot, bursting with flavour, exactly how I love it. Followed by Chilli Beef Nachos & Sausage Sandwich meant we were both now fully stuffed. We were there not long after they opened while it was still quiet. Sat on the patio in glorious sunshine, admiring the view. Lots of hand sanitiser available, staff were all wearing face guards, social distancing was certainly observed. What I particularly liked was that, even within the limitations imposed to maintain social distancing, the staff were still happy to move around tables to accommodate groups. Excellent value, excellent food, welcoming staff.......we will definitely visit again. It certainly deserves its Number 1 spot in Sneem

Had a really nice pit stop here last week. Service was great, very evident attention to social distancing, use of masks by all staff and rigorous hygeine when clearing tables. Food was terrific. The potato skins were ample and flavourful as were the potatoes stuffed with mash, bacon and topped with cheese. The chowder was creamy and rich and the portion of scampi was huge. Great value.

We are a family of four in Kerry for a staycation in Sneem, and booked here for dinner. All staff were really observant of Covid rules, there was lots of alcogel around, Perspex in between diners, but not intrusive, yet felt they were doing all they should. The food was amazing despite the electricity going off for about 15mins at the start. We had chowder, fisherman’s pie both gorgeous and full of flavour, piping hot. The kids 10,12yo had a burger and half size fish and chips, both were loads as the portions are big. They were equally good, great quality meaty burger. We shared two fudge cakes and a couple of drinks for the adults. Very reasonably priced overall and we booked to return again later in the week. We would all highly recommend this bar restaurant.

Food was spectacular! The squid was the best we've ever had. Staff were so attentive - we never waited more than a few minutes for anything we ordered. The owner was constantly cleaning tables, screens and door handles. I've nicknamed it 'The cleanest bar in Ireland'. Would Highly recommend the juicy homemade burgers smothered in Ballymaloe relish and cheese. Lads, I'll be back very soon and thanks for the warm welcome!!

This is a lovely old traditional family style pub on the green. We had no reservation, so were seated at an OK table, but when one became vacant in the window, we were whisked there, which was much appreciated. They were going to great lengths to adhere to coronavirus regulations with screens separating the tables. We each had an absolutely delicious prawn and crab open sandwich with spicy garlic mayonnaise and fresh salad. With a good pint of Guinness and a glass of Chardonnay, what more could you ask for? We are attended to by a series of friendly and chatty young people. I would love to go back here in an evening with the fire roaring and when no social distancing required. I fear that it might be hard to go home!

We recently visited this charming bar/restaurant. We were staying in a nearby hotel with our little dog and D O Shea’s could not have been more welcoming to him and us. We dined there on both nights of our stay as we enjoyed it so much the first night. They treated our little dog so kindly and we were made to feel very welcome both inside and outside with him. The food was amazing, home made , and very delicious. The portions are huge , so much so that my husband was unable to finished his meal on the second night .... an unheard of occurrence!! The service is prompt and friendly , nothing is a problem for them. Definitely visit here if you are in Sneem. Word of advice though : make a reservation!! Clearly we aren’t the only ones who discovered this gem and it’s very busy. Thank you D O Sheas for a lovely experience and delicious food.

We ate at this bar 2 weeks ago. Starters were excellent (goats cheese, prawns, soup, potato skins). For main course, we got 3 steaks. Although the meat was lovely, they were slightly overcooked. For example I requested medium rare, but my steak was definitely medium. There wasn't a sight of pink. On this occasion I did not bring it to the attention of the lovely attentive staff, as I had a toddler who did everything possible to try prevent us from eating our dinner together. My father in law had traditional fish & chips, and cleaned the plate! He said it was excellent. In relation to complying with covid regulations, I have no doubt but this bar is complying. However, I was very mindful of the wavering screen behind me & felt at times that it could topple down on us. Thank you for a lovely evening & we look forward to eating here again when visiting Sneem.

My daughter rang at after 1pm on the day of my wife ( her Mums ) birthday as we were thinking of driving that way and wanted to have dinner there as a birthday treat. The girl that answered the phone said "they don't really take reservations just walk in's only ) So we all planned our day around going there for dinner later in the evening. Again, this was a birthday outing. 20 minutes from there we said we would just give a call to check that they had a table for 4, we were surprised and really disappointed to be told they were fully booked out. We hung up but had a lot of disappointment from teenage daughter who really wanted to treat her Mum!!! We rang back to let them know that earlier we were told we could not make a reservation. The man that answered was very very rude, telling my wife that "Was absolute rubbish and if she wanted to come in and see the book with 24 names she could" Again, we planned a birthday day trip around ending it with a nice meal there ( we had eaten there before and the food and experience previously was great I must add - that is why we wanted to go back ) A very negative experience this time and because we could not get anywhere else to eat in the area we just drove home :( Not good enough, staff should know you take reservations and when a customer calls to let you know that happened the standard response would be to apologise not to be extremely rude. An "I'm very sorry that happened" would have just eased the disappointment.

Dropped in for Sunday lunch with family and decided to try the fresh cod and chips while the others opted for roast beef. I'd had the roast beef before and while it was very nice I'm not fond of the purée veg it is served with and there are no other options. The moment my fish and chips were put on the table I mentioned to the waitress that the portion of fish was very small. It honestly looked like a childs portion and I'm pretty sure that's what it actually was. She laughed it off with some comment I didn't quite catch but she thought was very funny. When she returned to the table with bowls of purée veg for the others I politely and quietly asked "did you tell the chef I said the portion of fish is very small?" Her loud giddy reply was "No, but I will tell him now and the next time he give you bigger one". Not exactly the kind of service I expected from a place where 50 yards away in The Stone House I could have gotten a huge portion of fresh salmon with real chips and a huge mixed salad for the same price, or just across the green I could have gotten again a huge portion of fresh fish with loads of homecut chips and tartare sauce from The Hungry Knight for 12.50. Overall a very disappointing experience and not a place I will be in a hurry to return to. It used to be an excellent place to eat before and the staff were always very well trained and courteous.

Every one of the staff was ill, coughing. The “Sorry, we don’t have The Corona. It’s the Flu,” excuse is unacceptable. You serve elderly and older folks with preexisting conditions who do not deserve to get ill by this negligence. You need to give the server a break to be ill at home and not get others sick. You have managed health care in a socialist country. There is no excuse. Period. Two separate folks recommended you all to us and we went based on that only to catch the “flu.” Not ok.

We stopped here for a light lunch after Derrynane Beach. I had chowder in mind but whilst on the menu there was none available sadly so we ordered 2 sneem sausage sandwiches (€6 each) and a ham and cheese toastie for the kids (€4.30) and a jug of Miwadi for the table (€2). Overall, good food here, friendly and reasonable. Also great views and open seating area out the rear.

This was the only restaurant open on Monday evening....it was a little busy but several empty tables. We ordered the hamburger and a pasta dish. My husband liked the burger, but to me it looked like a chunk of beef in a bun with nothing else. My pasta dish was hot but not very tasty, no spicing whatsoever of the tomato sauce...no onion, garlic, basil, etc and the slight sprinkle of parmesan on top didn't do much. We were at the restaurant an hour and a half, everything was slow from drinks to meals. Nothing was terrible, but I wouldn't go back if other restaurants were open.
