Just called in here hoping to get a cup of tea and a hot chocolate before heading up the hill to see the sea views. The bar staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar/restaurant area is very spacious, stylish, warm and comfortable. Although we didn't eat there, the food looked incredible and the prices reasonable. we will almost certainly... More

Myself and two friends there for lunch. My chowder was average at best - my friends liked their basil & tomato soups. My monkfish scampi was tasteless, the baked hake was very well received, but the chicken dish looked awful. Chips were actually fries (not great), and food presentation was below average. Staff were friendly and helpful enough, but also... More

Thank you for your review. I can see your lunch wasn't up to our usual high standards. The award winning chowder always gets great comments so I'm surprised to hear yours was only average. I will speak to the kitchen regarding presentation as they usually pride themselves with gorgeous edible flowers, garnish, dressings etc so again I am surprised to... More

I had one of the best fish ever here . Pricy enough, but absolutely worth it , and it came with plenty of side veg , what a delight! We also sat outside and our waitress was super nice! If you're lucky to get a table on a sunny day , go for the nice things on the menu ,... More

The Brass Monkey offers some tasty food at reasonable prices and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, so definitely worth booking. I had the fish and chips, which is not something I usually go for but it was up there with the best I've had. Service was great initially, but unfortunately dipped slightly as the night went... Lovely setting in a small cosy atmosphere. Went for deluxe seafood chowder - one of the best we've tasty and very large portion. Fish and chips very good and decent childs options. Service - bit lax but were not overly fussy when it comes to that. You would need to book. Recommended.

Stopped in here for late lunch after doing the cliff path loop. We shared the platter for two! Plenty of food, would probably do 3 people who aren't as greedy as us! Enjoyed it! Coffee was delish!

We were a party of six adults and two high-spirited four-year-olds for a on-spec family lunch on a bright day at the end of December. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and found us a great table tucked away in the corner. With the two boys getting a bit fractious they gave us a little drawing book / puzzle... As regular visitors to Howth and having never tried the Brass Monkey,we visited on a freezing cold day, looking for a late lunch/early dinner somewhere cosy. The Brass Monkey fit the bill perfectly! The view of the west pier is great too. Lovely friendly greeting as we walked in the door, and a choice of a few tables. There was... More
