I was traveling with Irish family and friends (I'm American) and we all enjoyed this place. I found it very authentic, with lots of fresh seafood options. We had crab, clam chowder, chicken, Fries, and mussels and everything was very fresh and tasty. We also had about 3 bottles of wine. Everything was reasonably priced (especially compared to New York... More

My sister-in-law convinced us to go to Ballyvaughan instead of coming up to Achill Island where she lives. She said we'd find more to do in that part of Ireland since it's not as remote as Achill, and besides, we'd be able to eat at Monk's. That was in 2008. Since then, we've been back to Ballyvaughan at least five... More

On our little Irish coast drive, we stopped in super cute Ballyvaughan and found this gem of restaurant. Located just next to the water, you have a lovely view, the staff is welcoming and very kind. The food is just incredible, seafood is delicious and portions are big! Stop by for sure if you are in the nearby. Loved it!

Went there to get a bite to eat but only served sea food . No irish traditional food at all. Not everyone eats sea food. I am sure the sea food is good but needs to look at the bigger picture.

Monks is a traditional pub with great seafood and Guinness. The view of Galway Bay is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I stopped into this Pub/restaurant for dinner. I was greeted warmly by Sean, who encouraged me to sit by their fire. I ordered the Beef Stew and wasn't disappointed. It was rich and hearty, just what I needed on a cool November evening. Then, Melissa, another member of the wait staff, came by, and we chatted. Both very friendly and... More
