Myself and my boyfriend found this place by chance last weekend and we were blown away by the spectacular fish and seafood not to mention the service. Theresa and her son Reuben provided such an an amazing four course meal in the welcoming atmosphere of their own home, overlooking the wild waves of the Atlantic. All of the fish was... More

What a delightful surprise. My boyfriend and I dined here back in June 2014, on a bit of a romantic night out. We chose the "surprise seafood menu", which turned out to be 5 unexpected courses. I don't think you can get fresher seafood than what Barrtra serves. The presentation was excellent, and Theresa was a welcoming server & hostess.... More

There were ample options on the menu, staff were helpful and friendly and on hand despite there being a full house that night. We were not rushed from our table and were allowed ample time to enjoy and digest each of our courses. Cannot speak highly enough of the food. And as among the last to leave my boyfriend was... Was recommended to try Barrtra by the b&b we were staying at and they weren't wrong. We had the surprise fish menu. Every course was superb and very reasonable at 30 euros. Waiter had the right balance of attentiveness and knowing when to leave us in peace. Highly recommend this place

Had an amazing meal here last Saturday with four of my friends & genuinely, I cant wait to return. The atmosphere was laid back & all the staff were super friendly / helpful. The menu was really nice and there was a "surprise menu", that was amusing and different from any other restaurant we had been to before. We we... More

We stopped here for lunch as part of our "Best of Ireland" Trafalgar tour. It was a "Be My Guest" stop where we foraged for local wild plants and had a short walk to the ocean's edge before sitting down for our meal. What an excellent tourism idea as it gives one insight into the local culture. The food was... More

Went here for my birthday, and we'll be back! We went for the seafood surprise menu, as many others have. We had lovely seafood paté amuse-bouche, and then two giant pots of fat, buttery mussels - I was dipping the excellent bread in the broth after they were done. We ordered some oysters on top of the set menu and... More

We ate here this week. I really like the laid back atmosphere. Not perfect, but more like an extension of your house with a great view. I do think the conservatory needs to be brushed and cleaned of cobwebs. We went for the surprise menu. Really liked it. We had hake and plaice. the potato-gratin was lovely and the fish... More

We're a family run seafood and steak restaurant in operation since 1988. We pride ourselves in sourcing the best local seafood and steaks and serve vegetables fresh from the garden. Situated on the Wild Atlantic Way against the backdrop of Liscannor Bay, the restaurant combines stunning views with a homely atmosphere and an old-style, Irish cottage charm.
