Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hi Sorry you didn’t enjoy your visit today, but you were advised we don’t do a gluten free fish and chips so the next best thing is to do a grilled haddock . We have an extensive gluten free menu so you could have had...More

They are fantastic. Rang them to book for 14 people. Was on a walk. Given us a private room as there was 15 of us. Very helpful and staff very friendly. Food was amazing. We did pre order our food cos there was a few...of us. But fast very quickly. Definitely recommend this place. Lovely pub. And the food just gorgeous. We will definitely be back. Oh and it's dog friendly. We had 7 dogs with us. They even do doggy treats for them. We was very happy with the service.More

It’s a while since I’ve been as I don’t live in the area now, but it’s not the same great place I’m sad to say. Wrong drinks order. Ripped seats ducted taped up. Filthy wooden furniture. It’d be ok if it was cheap but we...were paying a premium. It was the worst Sunday lunch I’ve ever had , and I’ve been alive a while and had a few. It’s a lovely spot , and the staff were friendly to us , hence not one star, but I really think it needs improvement.More

Great evening tonight at this fantastic country pub celebrating my daughter going on a world travel adventure . Had the tandoori kebab , was told 40 min to cook as from fresh was worth every minute wait. Thank you for a lovely evening

I took my daughter out for lunch, and she suggested the Strawberry Duck. I'd heard good things, but this was my first time visiting. I went in and stood at the bar and waited a few minutes before someone appeared to serve. I ordered a...drink and asked for a table and was shown into a tint room with 4 tables. In my opinion it's too small for 4 tables. I was given menus but no information as to whether it was table service or order at the bar. My daughter arrived, and we made our choice, pig butty with a portion of chips each. My daughter went to the bar and ordered food. However, other people got table service? The food came quite quickly. The butty was really nice. The bread was really thick, the pulled pork tender and juicy and the Chipotle sauce had a lovely spicy kick. The disappointing part was the chips. £3.50 for a portion of chips? Way over priced. £2 on top of the sandwich would be fair. £2.50 pushing it a little. £3.50 is just daylight robbery. The food was good but the location for me is a little out of the way and the room we were in was too cramped. Would I come again? I may bring my wife, but I doubt I'd come back after that to be honest.More

Really disappointed by our most recent visit. Not sure what has happened as we used to love visiting here. The place is looking shabby, stained cushions and sticky tables. Food took ages to arrive and was disappointing, fish was dry and chicken was also overdone....We were afraid to say anything though after witnessing the most horrendous customer service at another table after a customer asked a question about her dessert and received a mouthful from the waiter. We couldn't wait to pay and leave.More

Always love this place but felt like we walked into a different place recently. Nearly empty on a Saturday evening. The food was poor and we both left most of it. Had a glass of wine each but turns out it was £19.70 for the...privilege. Starters just out. Has the place changed hands ?More

We had a lovely lunch following a walk around the reservoir. Always a good choice on the menu and made to feel very welcome. The cheese and onion pie was excellent on a chilly afternoon. We will definitely be back.

We tried to book for Saturday afternoon but couldn't get through so decided just to chance it and so glad we did, we're seated straight away, the waiter was lovely, wished I would have got his name, we just went for sandwiches and chips, I...has the pulled pork and partner had the beef, both were lovely, the larger chips I'm afraid to say were raw, the smaller ones fine. Would definitely go again, beware of the tiny car park, we had a real job getting past a van that wasn't in a space but parked at the front door, maybe it was a delivery.More

We had a lovely lunch from the extensive menu. My mother in law said the cheese and onion pie was delicious. My Lancashire cheese sandwich was very nice but a few crisps on the side would have made it even better. The dog loved her...little treat .. chipolata sausage 🐕‍🦺. We will definitely be visiting again soon.More

Visited last Monday with my wife for a pig butty and a fish butty only to be served it on stale bread. The fact the kitchen staff head found it acceptable to send it out like this is disgraceful. Iv never had a bad meal...before but looking at the reviews it seems to be happening a lot more often. Let’s hope they stop this place losing its good reputation.More

Sadly probably the worst roast dinner I’ve ever paid for. The food was completely bland, chewy veg tasted like microwaved frozen veg, gravy was thin and tasteless, meat bland and chicken cut was thick and veiny. Really disappointed considering the price charged would’ve expected a...much higher quality meal and more to the roast like pigs in blankets and stuffing… had much nicer roasts for a cheaper price. Felt really disappointed after as we’ve been planning a visit here for a while. Good portion size though just wish I’d ordered something else.More

If I could have put 0 stars I would of. The staff are less than friendly and the service is poor. There is a man with a bald head that shouldn’t be in the service industry as his manners are appalling. The food is over...priced and there is no atmosphere.More
