Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The black bank was recommended to me by a fellow trucker. with its close proximity to the industrial estate heavily used by solo sleepers. From the moment I entered the pub I felt a warm welcome from the girls behind the bar and all of...the locals! The price of a pint was cheaper than i pay back at home, and all served with a smile. The locals welcomed me to play pool with them and the atmosphere was great for a wet and windy Thursday evening. I didn't get to try the food menu as I arrived just after it stopped serving (8'oclock) but the Chinese from a few doors down was 10/10 on my way back to the truck I will definitely be parking my lorry here again when I have the opportunity. Great pub great staff. great atmosphere. The owners should be proud of what they have here. Thanks again and I'll see you all again soon. Trucker Adam 🤘🏼More

We've had a few good meals here but hadn't been for a while. It was a last minute decision to go out for lunch yesterday and I'm so glad we did. I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast dinner. I was torn between the pork or...the beef. I opted for the beef which was absolutely melt in your mouth. My partner enjoyed his big fat burger. The food is good value for money and the service was great, everyone was friendly. The new decor looks really smart and stylish in a lovely old building. I highly recommend it, we'll definitely be calling again.More

I had never been to the pub before, husband had back in the 90's and I do know a few friends do go there. Ordered steak, the huge fish platter (husband) and a Mac n cheese with crispy bacon (daughter) and wow excellent food. The...chef said it was a very thick steak, it was, and asked me if I wanted it to be cooked a bit longer, I did and it cam out great. Husbands fish platter was a good size and daughters Macncheese vanished (inc the bacon). This pub had shut down for a while and reopened in August 2021, Boss also knows a few friends of ours. A good place for a good reasonably priced meal in clean very presentable surroundings. Also biker friendly, which is an excellent thing to be. Thank you to The Old Black Bank. xMore

Far too hot to cook on a bank holiday weekend. So off to the pub for lunch and a drink. Nice place plenty of tables to sit,a quiet Sunday not many in so food did not take long to arrive. About a 15 minute walk...from homeMore

Called in here for the first time on Saturday before our trip to the theatre. Both myself and my husband ordered the gammon steak with egg and pineapple with a side order of onion rings. Food arrived after 10 minutes of ordering, piping hot. We...thoroughly enjoyed our meal and a couple of drinks. Friendly efficient staff. Will certainly reccommend.More

Me and my wife had a lovely meal served by friendly staff. We chose the two for £8 menu and it did not reflect the price. Would of paid a lot more for the nice they served us. It was pub food at its best....Would definitely eat here again.More

On arrival in the dining area I was met with a strong unpleasant smell of disinfectant, decided to have my meal in the bar area as a result. Warm friendly greeting from the staff & some of the customers. The food, in this case ,...ham double egg, chips & peas. The food hot & quite well presented. The chips sadly rate in the top 10 of the worst I have tasted; oily some overcooked & hard. The overall experience, just average for this type of local pub trying to serve food. I started to visit on a recommendation. The pub is clean, friendly and the staff are OK. When busy it takes a little time to get served (Friday, Brains out night Basically full and loud. Saturday music night). Beer is good, have yet to try...the food, but been told it is V/Good.. Will keep on visiting...More
