I was looking for somewhere to have a great meal and a good gossip with friends and came across this great restaurant. The pub it is attached to is a great country pub with plenty of parking. The restaurant is located at the back / side of the pub and the choice of menu is varied with lots of local... More

Country pub with a restaurant. Good menu, some excellent value specials, good food. Service was good, no pressure to eat up and move out, very relaxed. thoroughly enjoyed it. Like the place

This restaurant is an extensive addition to what used to be a tiny traditional thatched pub. If visiting don't forget to try a pint of Trappers Hat. I joined friends for lunch on a Monday and was surprised how quickly it filled up. A good sign. The menu is extensive with something for everyone from sandwiches to full dinners. The... More

Excellent Sunday roasts and great customer service! Had to wait a while for our food but the experience was saved by the management and we were extremely well compensated for the inconvenience. We look forward to our next visit.

Our favourite local top dining choice is the Cowshed, there is simply no competition on the Wirral. The ambience is outstanding, as is the service. The food is fresh, local and simply the best. The changing market menu brings different choices to the established dining menu. We have never had a meal here that disappointed. The best part of the... More

My wide and I enjoyed a superb lunch from an extensive, attractive menu in this marvellous country inn. The chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, which I ordered, was magnificent as was the cheddar cheese-based vegetarian sausages, ordered by my wife. A pint of Brimstone Brewery's splendid Trapper's Hat (one of a wonderful wide range of available real ales) and a... More

My friend and I enjoyed lunch at The Wheatsheaf today. We are pensioners and can't eat a huge amount and the staff were happy for us to share a sausage batch and a portion of chips and arranged for the kitchen to split it for us. It was delicious and the staff were first class. With a glass of shandy... More

We visited for a celebratory meal on a Saturday evening, having eaten at this rural pub previously. The staff were very obliging to our party both in preparation for the meal and on the night. It was a busy evening in the restaurant. The meals were very good and dining in the quietly-lit 'barn' part of the restaurant gave a... More

Visited as a family (5 of us) to celebrate a family birthday and had the Sunday lunch menu in the restaurant. The food was really nice - especially the deserts - and the staff were great. The only minor frustration was that they didn't leave the jug of water on the table and we had to ask for a top-up.... More
