Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having heard great things about this place, we decided to give it a try. We had the braised beef and the chicken schnitzel. Both absolutely delicious. We shared a sticky toffee pudding with cream and ice cream. I would say the prices are about 25%...higher than many places in the area, but the food is 75% better. We’ll definitely be back, no doubt with our friends in tow. Well done the Butchers Arms.More

The new menu has arrived! So excited!! My fish pie was soooo good. Gareth had the Three Little Piggies (pork belly, pork cheek and pulled pork) and Gareth's mum had the lamb hotpot. 😋 All perfectly cooked and demolished!!! Gorgeous attentive service. Cannot recommend highly...enough. Thank you Jon and Bev. Sublime cookery!More

We visited on a Saturday lunch time when the offering is 'brunch' and very tasty it was too. Two of us had the wild mushrooms and one the salmon and scrambled egg. The large and small full breakfast looked good too. Perhaps there could have...been more salmon? Simple but delightful decor, lovely ambience, very friendly and good device. Highly recommended!More

When the weather has been as inclement as it has been recently, and you're in a far flung corner of the county. It's good to know there are these havens of warmth, friendliness and proper grub dotted around. There's nothing better than coming back from...a walk as the light fades on a wet day, than seeing a log fire burning through a condensated window and the promising smell of a fine feast. And once you enter the threshold you are not disappointed. Fine ales abound and a merry atmosphere envelopes you. Bringing back memories of being a young child in your mother's arms. Table sizes to suit the group you're in . And a simple menu with something for everyone. All cooked to perfection. We shall be backMore

Yet another superb trip to the Butchers Arms where community spirit and effort has made this place a great destination eatery! This time we tried the Cous cous and a most delicious Vegan burger. Generous portions as always! Lovely friendly local staff who give the...warmest of welcomes , although log burning 🔥 fires add to that warmth in winter. Take time out to visit , eat and maybe a cheeky beer on the side😀!More

The menu here is really very good.Different dishes and some usual favourites. The twice baked cauliflower soufflé (£8.50) was scrummy. The chicken, ham hock and leek pie was delicious. The mains are about£17;,:the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My friends had the Turkey Christmas dinner and...said it was the best they had ever had.The parsnips were coated in a fine crumb that made them very crispy and lovely. We were too full for a dessert so had a coffee instead .The menu choice and decor is lovely. I would return here.Checkmthenwebsitenfor opening days and times as they don’t open every day. This is a community run pub that offers food of a high standard in very tasteful surroundings.More

This is the best pub ever! We always book several meals here when we stay in Crosby Ravensworth so we don't miss out on the amazing food, fabulously friendly and helpful staff and the great atmosphere. We ate dinner on Saturday night with our two...sons. Our starters were prawns, cornflake chicken, chicken liver pate and buttered mushrooms - all scrumptious and just the right amount. We had mains of pork belly, lamb hotpot and fish & chips which were all delicious and the helpings are very generous. Only two of us managed pudding. I had a very good black cherry frangipane and one of the boys had the sticky toffee pudding which is always excellent. If you're a custard fan like us you'll love the Pyrex jug it comes in! We were back for lunch on Sunday to enjoy a gorgeous roast with a huge Yorkshire pudding! The extra jug of gravy is a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. Lunch was followed by some family pool and no doubt we could have ended up staying much longer if the boys didn't need to head off. The tempting range of ales, gins, wines etc is too good! Two more dinners booked this week to try some other dishes on the menu. We have tried various other pubs in the area but when you have the Butchers Arms just a 4 minute walk away, why go anywhere else?! We haven't found anywhere to beat it. We recommend it to all our guests and it is often raved about in our guest book. Thanks to Jon and his team for continuing to provide such a fabulous community pub! For us, it is a home away from our home away from home!!More

Had Sunday lunch with our 2 year old daughter and as she was asleep in the car we are outside. The staff couldn’t be more friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Sunday roast was delicious and staff went out of their way to help. The village...and setting is so peaceful and we would highly recommend and come back!More

Such friendly staff. We were well looked after. The menu caters for all. The Butchers Double Smash Burger for my son and I and the Battered Haddock for my wife were magnificent. Perfectly prepared and presented. The Sticky Toffee Pudding with a Jug of Custard...was the perfect way to end our meal. The prices are extremely reasonable. If we didn't live 350 miles away we would definitely be regulars. We will make a point of coming back if we are in the area again. Thank you.More

What a fantastic meal. Lamb hotpot was superb and came with it's own special (and delicious) pot of lamb gravy. The pork wellington dish was just great - sort of like Greggs going for a Michelin star. Wine was great and well priced, The hot...puddings were fabulous and the addition of generous serving of custard in a Pyrex jug is genius. Serving staff were all lovely. We've eaten here many times and it's just consistently excellent. Keep it up guys, brilliant again!More
