Just got back from a lovely night away at The Priory. We reserved Tarnbrook Apartment as looking for ground floor accommodation due to taking our 14yr old Border Collie. We were surprised at how big the accommodation was & it felt like home from home. The apartment was spacious, homely & the bed really comfortable. It’s open plan, with lounge, kitchen, dining room, bedroom & bathroom. I had contacted Julie prior to our stay as the cafe/restaurant closes at 4pm & we didn’t want to venture out for an evening meal so ordered afternoon tea, which Julie had kindly left in the fridge, it was tasty & plentiful, variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, fresh cream cake & scones. We slept well as the area is so peaceful & just what we needed.
Breakfast is included in the price & there are plenty of choices, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, then full English, eggs Benedict etc.
overall the whole stay was a lovely experience & filled our expectations of a quiet night away with peace & relaxation. To say we live only 30 mins away we’ve never been to Scorton & we will visit The Priory again. Thank you Julie & staff for your hospitality.

My husband and I come here for lunch probably every 2 months or so and we always thoroughly enjoy it. I always have the chicken and bacon ciabatta with salad and it is superb. The salad is very tasty and the ciabatta is full of chicken and bacon and more salad. My husband often tries something different and today he had the steak pie with chips and vegetables which he said was excellent. We'll see you again in a few months. Keep up the good work!

We stopped off here for Sunday lunch and were glad we did. Lovely home-cooked food in a relaxed setting with an open fire. The highlight was being given a choice of 2 homemade soups as a starter among other options. We then went for chicken and beef roast dinners with generous portions and all the trimmings. Followed by apple pie and custard, the apple seemed to be more mousse than the usual apple pieces in a typical pie that you might expect, but I preferred it that way - a refreshing change.
The service and ambience were spot on, all in all a very nice experience.

We stayed at The Priory B&B to accomodate us for a friend's wedding at a nearby venue. We had not managed our time realistically and a taxi to the wedding venue would have made us arrive later than we hoped. Janice, who I'm assuming is the owner, kindly drove us to the wedding. It was lovely to stay in such a beautiful setting with a genuinely caring person running the place.
To top it off, our room was clean and warm with a comfortable king size bed. Our breakfasts were also cooked to perfection with friendly and attentive staff within earshot.
My wife and I are very pleased with our stay at The Priory and will highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to visit the area.

Everything about this venue was lovely apart from the food!
I pre ordered afternoon tea. We did arrive late and maybe one reason for dry bread.
However the cakes were hardly edible, sandwiches awful. Scone dreadful, tea cold.
As I was with my Aunt aged 100 I didnt make a fuss just asked for boxes to take the food away as embarrassed to leave it all on the table.
Staff lovely, venue lovely...sorry wont be returning

I can never understand why The Priory is not busier at lunchtime, as we really like the food here. We came here for lunch today and I was pleased to see that my favourite ( the chicken and bacon toasted ciabatta ) is now part of the main menu. I can thoroughly recommend this dish - the ciabatta contains 2 rashers of bacon, lots of chicken and salad. It comes with a lovely side salad of Iceberg lettuce ( instead of tasteless leaves which lots of establishments use now ), tomato, cucumber, peppers, onion, beetroot, pea shoots and coleslaw. My husband always has the lasagne and garlic bread, which he says is very tasty. The young lady who waits on is always very pleasant.

We were looking for a place to stay .As a base for a nearby wedding venue .We had two apartments clean ,tidy ,imaginative. Staff efficient and breakfast choice was good . We chose eggs Benedict /Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon .The second morning full English .This chef certainly knows how to poach an egg runny and perfect .The sauce was well executed on the Eggs Benedict .Lovely that the wood burner was on both mornings although not chilly .It made a great ambiance Well done Team Priory !

The Priory is a beautiful place. In the heart of a picturesque village. It’s a building full of exquisite stone masonry and woodwork detail. I loved the restaurant. Great food - we were served a delicious liver dish, my husband had the steak pie and was very happy. Beautiful comfortable room. Will be back and have recommended to a work colleague who is on her way in the summer. Thank you for a lovely stay. Veronica.

Ideal location for coffee and cake before a cycle ride. Parking limited but access easy from the A6 and surrounding countryside.
Friendly staff and a very small wood burning stove help a warm atmosphere.
Coffee is good, I suspect a robusta/arabica blend, and the textured milk foam was just a little wet for a flat white.
The cheesy crumpets are a revelation, try the extra bacon!

Recently stayed at this beautiful B&B for a friend's wedding at Wrysdale Park.
This B&B is in a great location in the village, the staff were all very attentive and polite. Our room was clean and nicely decorated.
We struggled to find a taxi to the wedding venue so the owner drove us!
The breakfast was nicely cooked and good quality ingredients.
Amazing service and I would definitely go again.

We love it at The Priory. We stayed in the hotel which is absolutely fine with everything you need for a short break. The restaurant is outstanding with some of the best food and very generous portions. All ingredients are locally sourced too. Again I had the lasagne which is still the best I have ever had - even from an Italian restaurant. The Ploughman's salad was unbelievable on the following evening! Lovely fresh salad with fruit, 4 local cheeses, 2 big chunks of granary bread, coleslaw & chutney. My husband had the fish and chips on the first evening which consisted of a lovely large piece of fish, some chunky chips, mushy peas & tartare sauce. On the second evening he had the steak burger which again was very large with a bowl of accompanying salad and some french fries. Excellent value for money for all meals. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and is always perfectly cooked. There is also a good choice of cereals, fruit & yoghurt. The restaurant is quirky but so very relaxing with a really nice ambience. All the staff are wonderful! They all work so hard, very efficient but calm, warm & friendly. They make you feel welcome and nothing seems to be too much trouble. We look forward to returning again in a few months time

This hotel is conveniently located a short distance from junction 37 on M6 It is a good location to stop off when travelling north to south
Poky bedroom with not enough space for clothing and suitcases
Wifi worked well and free to use
Bedroom decorations were dowdy and would benefit from a fresh revamp
It became clear during our stay that apart from my husband and my husband and I, that there was nobody else on the premises overnight. I was concerned and unhappy that we were alone at night in premises that we were not familiar with in case of an emergency during the night.
The bathroom sink mirror is designed for giants. It was useless for a mere mortal like me.
There was no bathroom sink plug meaning you have to wash with running water only
The flush for the toilet was broken
The Proprietor doubled up as the Receptionist and Breakfast Chef and Breakfast Waitress. She did all these tasks efficiently. She was very friendly and most charming. She made up for the poor shortcoming of this place

Brilliant staff, friendly and helpful. Room had some problems, shower needed some sort of grab tail as getting out was very difficult. There is a serious obsession with mirrors, a six by four at the side of the bed is bonkers. No TV remote and no way to watch unless lying on the bed, a three foot wide round table by the window was far too big, half the size would have been adequate! The room was very clean as was the bed linen, mattress very hard! Some lights on the courtyard and car park would be a good idea, black as pitch! Overall very good, just a few niggles that could be improved.

What others have described as nice decor, I found bizarre and pretentious. I can’t speak for the restaurant but the cafe has very little atmosphere and no beer other than in expensive bottles. The rather odd outsized fixtures, a giant mirror, a large clock , an oversized planter and the tiled floor make this a rather uncomfortable space. People seemed to be enjoying the food but if all you want is a drink it’s not somewhere that I’d recommend.

We stayed yesterday evening to be met by Rachel. What a star! We love our tea, she made sure we had supplies of tea and milk. Then breakfast, Rachel made sure everything we requested, was there for us. Couldn’t fault her Customer care. A total asset to this business. You are very lucky to have her on your payroll. Keep pleasant Rachel as it is a massive plus xx
