Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Found the food to be fabulous - generous portions, very tasty and well-cooked. Staff were friendly, polite and obliging. The only criticism is that we were put in the bar/coffee lounge area to eat and the seating there is far too low for a meal...- more suitable for coffee/bar drinks not a meal. It made it very awkward. I'm not particularly short and shouldn't have had to resort to a booster cushion in order to comfortably eat a meal!More

We stayed at The Priory B&B to accomodate us for a friend's wedding at a nearby venue. We had not managed our time realistically and a taxi to the wedding venue would have made us arrive later than we hoped. Janice, who I'm assuming is...the owner, kindly drove us to the wedding. It was lovely to stay in such a beautiful setting with a genuinely caring person running the place. To top it off, our room was clean and warm with a comfortable king size bed. Our breakfasts were also cooked to perfection with friendly and attentive staff within earshot. My wife and I are very pleased with our stay at The Priory and will highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to visit the area.More

Recently stayed at this beautiful B&B for a friend's wedding at Wrysdale Park. This B&B is in a great location in the village, the staff were all very attentive and polite. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. We struggled to find a taxi to...the wedding venue so the owner drove us! The breakfast was nicely cooked and good quality ingredients. Amazing service and I would definitely go again.More

Brilliant staff, friendly and helpful. Room had some problems, shower needed some sort of grab tail as getting out was very difficult. There is a serious obsession with mirrors, a six by four at the side of the bed is bonkers. No TV remote and...no way to watch unless lying on the bed, a three foot wide round table by the window was far too big, half the size would have been adequate! The room was very clean as was the bed linen, mattress very hard! Some lights on the courtyard and car park would be a good idea, black as pitch! Overall very good, just a few niggles that could be improved.More

I can never understand why The Priory is not busier at lunchtime, as we really like the food here. We came here for lunch today and I was pleased to see that my favourite ( the chicken and bacon toasted ciabatta ) is now part...of the main menu. I can thoroughly recommend this dish - the ciabatta contains 2 rashers of bacon, lots of chicken and salad. It comes with a lovely side salad of Iceberg lettuce ( instead of tasteless leaves which lots of establishments use now ), tomato, cucumber, peppers, onion, beetroot, pea shoots and coleslaw. My husband always has the lasagne and garlic bread, which he says is very tasty. The young lady who waits on is always very pleasant.More

"Apartment-Superior-Ensuite with Shower-Bleasdale Treat yourself to our large luxury suite. Beautifully decorated with a king-size bed, shower room, fitted kitchen and a comfortable open plan dining room and lounge. Simply perfect for a relaxing break away. So says the website for The Priory at Scorton"....The reality however is somewhat different. Whilst our 2 night stay there was pleasant, it fell short of “luxurious”!! We stayed in the “Bleasdale” – we know that was its name because there was a “Post It note” stuck on the inside of the glass door panel – not a wall mounted nameplate, but a “Post It note”. A real luxury welcome!! See photo. On entering the Apartment it is quite pleasing to the eye – clean, bright and adequately furnished. Your eye is, however, immediately drawn to the loose and untidy power cable running from the built in microwave to the socket below – this unsightly cable is missing from the photo on the website booking page!! See photo. On the work surface under the microwave there is a laminated note advising “Late Arrivals” to call a number for information on how to access the apartment, see photo. It is inside the apartment!! How are you supposed to read it if you are unable to gain access due to your “Late Arrival”?? There is also a “form” for you to fill in if there are any issues or suggestions regarding the accommodation – more later. Also on the work surface was a heating control unit/thermostat – some user instructions would have been helpful!! The major disappointment was however the shower en-suite!!! As you enter the first thing you notice is “no mirror” – it is customary, in even the most basic accommodation, to have a mirror above the sink. The Priory definition of Luxurious does not however include this basic ablution aid!! See photo. But it got worse!! The shower tray had more than its fair share of black mould on the sealant where the shower tray met the tiles – See photo. We did not feel comfortable using it - so didn’t. We did make use of the “feedback” form to draw the condition of the shower to the attention, despite it being left in a prominent position when we left for a long day out – it was either “not seen” or “ignored”, the shower was still unacceptable when we returned in the evening!!! In the generally adequate dressing room there is a somewhat tatty mid sized mirror on top of a chest of drawers – it is not supported, it is just leaning against the wall. Is this a pathetic attempt at making up for the absence of a mirror in the en-suite? See photo. In the many many other suites and apartments in which we have stayed it is fairly normal to have a TV in the lounge area and another in the bedroom area – not at The Priory! There is a good quality TV in the KitchenDiner/Lounge area but in the bedroom you only have a high level power socket and TV aerial socket – No TV!! In summary The Priory falls somewhat short of their publicity. Their “Apartment-Superior-Ensuite with Shower-Bleasdale” that they also refer to as a “Luxury Suite” in really “work in progress” – it is just not completed to a sufficient standard to warrant the accolade they afford to it. They need to throw two or three hundred pounds and a few hours at it to bring it up to somewhere near their marketing hype. I drew the above issues to the attention of Duty Manageress Julie (?) at checkout – after some discussion she offered to discount our bill in recognition of the issues. I declined this offer, I was not making a complaint to negotiate a price reduction I was simply reporting to them the shortfall in their offering – in the hope that future guests might be able to enjoy accommodation that lived up to its hype. At all times during our stay the staff were pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was of a good standard. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen area generally well supplied – cutlery, crockery appliances etc.More

Everything about this venue was lovely apart from the food! I pre ordered afternoon tea. We did arrive late and maybe one reason for dry bread. However the cakes were hardly edible, sandwiches awful. Scone dreadful, tea cold. As I was with my Aunt aged...100 I didnt make a fuss just asked for boxes to take the food away as embarrassed to leave it all on the table. Staff lovely, venue lovely...sorry wont be returningMore

Lovely little quiet village, very nice apartment. Only down side no WiFi no netflix and TV had a lot of issues with signal but we took board games, cards etc so managed alright. Great staff, very accommodating in lots of ways and brilliant at returning...messages and responding . Best breakfast we have ever had anywhere, fantastic. Was hoping to venture out but sadly the weather was horrendous but theres lots of places to go out to visit in nicer weather Considering its all dog friendly you wouldn't know dogs are allowed it's cleaned very wellMore

I stayed at the Priory early June, the venue is gorgeous with beautiful rooms, the breakfast was a amazing but most importantly I was most recently blown away by the customer service offered by the staff. I recently realised (6weeks after my stay) that I...left my jacket in the room, I called the Priory straight away as soon as I realised and thankfully the jacket was still there and kept safe by the wonderful staff. The team at the priory have gone absolutely above and beyond and posted by jacket back to me, sincere thanks again for the amazing stay and unbelievable customer service. I would 1000% recommend staying here to anyone. EmmaMore

Room was reasonable if a little dated with comfortable firm bed. Ensuite bathroom needed refurbishment. We had an issue regarding housekeeping but this was addressed promptly. Breakfast was very good, varied and cooked to order. Waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Quiet location. No noise...at night despite being close to the motorway. Although very handy for Wyresdale Park weddings guests should note that the walk to the venue is along an unlit country lane. Taxi needed back late at night from the wedding venue.More

We were looking for a place to stay .As a base for a nearby wedding venue .We had two apartments clean ,tidy ,imaginative. Staff efficient and breakfast choice was good . We chose eggs Benedict /Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon .The second morning full English....This chef certainly knows how to poach an egg runny and perfect .The sauce was well executed on the Eggs Benedict .Lovely that the wood burner was on both mornings although not chilly .It made a great ambiance Well done Team Priory !More

Early visit so main cafe wasn’t open, but the quirky coffee cart outside was. Nice coffee & a homemade meat pasty which was good too. Nice day so we just sat outside. All in all a good experience in the nice villlage of Scorton.

Yes dogs are allowed in the lower café/restaurant part. I don't think they are allowed in the upper restaurant connected to the hotel.
