Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This little gem . Could be the pub everyone’s talking about. Under new management. Totally refurbished. Big smiles from the staff. Like a pub should be . Food was excellent. What was so nice it felt like a family pub that you don’t want to...leave. I had the steak casserole. Which was delicious. Tasty and full of tender meat. And fresh vegetables on top. This pub is on the right track to becoming something really special.More

Since the pub re-opened, the food has been 10/10. The new decor makes the pub feel like village home with a mix of fine dining. The menu is so well thought out taking pub classics and elevating to a new level which Danbury has needed...for a long time.More

Went for a hike on the common and stopped in at this little gem of a pub afterwards for Sunday lunch. There was a nice atmosphere and it was busy. We both had a roast. The food and service were both fantastic and although not...the cheapest around, the portions were very generous and I can eat alot! I was so full but couldn't leave any as it was so delicious. This was the first Sunday roast out that we've had for a very long time that was thoroughly enjoyable, every element was perfectly cooked, and pretty damn close to as good as home cooked as you could get.More

Delightful Christmas lunch. This pub has a great atmosphere, cheerful and helpful staff and a good menu. Just wish the mixed grill was a regular item on the menu 👍🏻

Firstly sorry for the delay in putting on a review. We had our wedding reception at the Cricketers and I can't thank Zoe and her fab team enough. We were let down 4 weeks before our day and Zoe came to the rescue and saved...our wedding. We had the most fantastic hot food buffet with home made curries, rice and all indian sides that cater for all dietary requirements with a well-stocked cheese board. I highly recommend any occasions here from weddings to having drinks on a Friday night, food is great and Zoe and her team are very welcoming, make you feel at home and are super helpful and always happy to see you. Thank you so much for making our day special and we have already been back but will continue to support this great little village pub. Love Lisa & Paul xMore

Wandered in for Sunday lunch with my wife, children and canine family member (-: The staff are very welcoming and accommodating. The pub has a warm feel to it with a great sense of history. Clearly an establishment that is well run and cared for,...with nice seats, well kept carpets and clean toilets. Nice log fire going. Loved that they are dog friendly, with dog biscuits complimentary at the bar, towels for the dogs as you go in and dog water bowls. Very generously portioned Sunday roast; had the roast chicken which was delicious. The children's options were generously portioned. My wife enjoyed the vegan curry. The latte coffee was superb. We will be back.More

I booked for my archery club in mid December for a meal this past weekend. All I can say is, what an experience. It was amazing. Zoe was fantastic and handled everything perfectly. The chef made a bespoke 3 course menu with multiple choices and...even an allergen friendly separate menu for those that needed it and sent a breakdown of ingredients just in case. The staff on the night were super friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The whole club enjoyed the evening and we will definitely be making the pub our go to venue for our club meals. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.More

what a surprise. I hadn't been to this pub for over 2 years, mainly because I had a disappointing experience. I can only assume there's been a change of management because the experience I had recently was first class. Friendly welcoming staff, plenty of them...to help, and the food came quickly. It was presented very well and was excellent quality. Given the recent inflationary pressures the food was good value and filling. When I left, the pub was full of customers who appeared to be having a good time. I would now be happy to recommend and look forward to returning soon.More

Just by the start of Danbury Common, the pub is easily spotted. There's additional parking in the car park for the Common just across the road. We were seated quickly despite there being a number of reservations for Sunday lunch. We very much enjoyed our...vegetable Wellington and halloumi burger plus garlic bread. The portions were very generous and the coffee I had was also very good. One slight disappointment was the bread and butter pudding which we found lacking in flavour and seemingly lacking the advertised white chocolate covering. The cricket memorabilia throughout was an added attraction for me. Definitely recommended overall.More
