Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My memories of Tayinloan date back a number of years ago when it was our destination at the end of a 15 mile charity walk over the hills from Carradale and by the time we got to the beach there we were feeling a little weary. The café is located just outside the village alongside the ferry to Gigha and we just popped in for a quick break whilst passing through Tayinloan (follow the signs for the ferry from the village to locate it). The café had a good display of baking to tempt us and we both had their carrot cake which was very moist and tasty, together with a cup of very good coffee. Total bill was £9.50 which was good value for money taking into account the quality of the produce. We struck up conversation with customers at a neighbouring table who were killing time prior to driving further up the road to get the Islay ferry so that added to our visit. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Covid-19 regulations adhered to in our experience. Easy to recommend and if/when we are back in the locality we’d pop in again.

We came across this welcome pit stop by chance while touring around the Kintyre Peninsular. This establishment is a lite bite sort of place and is adjacent to the Calmac Ferry Terminal for the ferry to Gigha Island. The serving staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and sensibly priced. It is a beautiful location with a view to die for. We are more than happy to recommend the place and will call there again when we are next in the area.

Popped in as we were early for the ferry to Gigha. Lots of gifts inside as well as the food & drink on offer. There are 3 what appear to be Holiday Lets next door which would be a great base for Gigha & mainland sightseeing. Would recommend getting to ferry early & going in for a cuppa or a pint.

This cafe is located next to the ferry terminal for the island of Gigha. We had coffee and cake here on two occasions and were not disappointed on both visits. This is the same place as listed on TripAdvisor as 'Big Jessie's.

Great spot to stay over on the Kintyre Way! The accomodation is large, roomy, well equiped and warm. The owners are extremely friendly and inviting, leaving you feeling quite at home. Great food and all very reasonably priced.

Stayed for 1 night on a cycling trip passing through Kintyre. The B&B is clean well equipped and spacious with a nice lounge for guests. There are stunning views over to Gigha. Our hosts made this an unforgettable experience. They went out of their way to help repair a broken bike. Special thanks to Robbie at the local bike club for procuring a new back wheel many miles from a bike shop and saving the last few days of our trip. A great gesture of goodwill and hospitality on both parts. Full Scottish breakfast in Big Jessie’s next door was excellent. I have already recommended this place to others planning to stay in the area.

Spent most of my childhood holidaying in Tayinloan, so it was lovely to walk along the golden, secluded beach from the caravan park and stop at the ferry farm for a bit of lunch. Love this part of Scotland so much

We stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the Kintyre Way. We arrived quite early as the walk had been short and it was so problem getting our room early so we had plenty time to relax in the room and the big lounge available to us. The views from the house and gardens over to Gigha are amazing. We had terrible weather but it was still lovely to see. There's a cafe and shop next door where we ate which is brilliant when yovue tired feet like us. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, in keeping with everyone we met in Kintyre. I'd stay here again

I was visiting friends in Muasdale and we went to the ferry farm cafe for lunch. It was a delight-delicious food (especially the fish!) pleasant service, and for this traveling American, very reasonable prices. The best tray bakes and cakes ever!!!! There’s outdoor seating and a cute little gift shop too.
