Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An amazing experience. Food and service immaculate. Fab range of ales. This was a celebration event, but noted the Barley Mow has some special events during the year, with music, mystery and other themes. Details on their website. The canalside location would make this a...great summertime venue - huge garden too. Cozy fires make for a lovely winter atmosphere.More

Very welcoming staff and lovely log burner to warm us up after our long walk along the canal. The food was very tasty and a good selection of drinks available. Lovely location.

Visited for a Sunday dinner as family with various items selected from menu. We all really enjoyed our food especially the roast which can be disappointing when visiting a pub but not on this occasion. We will return

Sadly just missed out on the Sunday lunch, suggest getting there early on a Sunday. We chose our food from the day menu and weren't disappointed. Hubby had Steak and Ale pie, melt in the mouth. I opted for the homemade mac cheese, everything was...delivered piping hot. Extremely friendly staff. Lovely location next to the canal.More

Reservation made the day before visit. Arrived on time to an empty pub. Noone greeted us. We sat at a table reserved for 3 assuming it was ours. Wrong! Waitress told us without preamble it wasn't ours. She also said we had no reservation recorded....Moved to another table we ordered with her using the hand held ordering machine. This took forever. Food delivered which was average at best but whole experience spoiled by waitress indifference. Won't go again.More

I think it would be advisable. Although it is a large pub, it can get busy.

Oh well if the chap wanted a curry why not go to an Indian, but then again some people go in those and have chicken and chips, we had the specials in the Barley Mow and 6 people left shiny plates, what more can you say.
