CLOSED - Sadly due to many reasons The Bell is now closed. The Bell at Yarpole is an 18th century black and white pub & restaurant set in the picturesque village of Yarpole in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, near the National Trusts Croft Castle & Bircher Common. The Bell itself is full of character with many original features which include our very own cider press and mill which are an integral part of our restaurant. The Bell is a place where everybody is made to feel welcome whether it is for a quick pint or meeting friends and family for lunch or dinner.

My husbands birthday treat, he ate the confit duck leg and bean cassoulet and said it was so tasty, the duck was moist and tender. I had the crispy chilli cauliflower dish, it was served with spring onions and was both delicious and surprisingly filling....I enjoyed the pineapple grass tart and hubby enjoyed their homemade ice cream.More

Booked a table at short notice. Warm reception from staff. Chose a table in restaurant area. Very chilly with the door open. A few other tables taken. Starters were good. Beetroot platter for my partner was lovely, my Cauliflower Cheese soup was good. Mains were...a disappointment. My sole and “punched” potatoes was mediocre, the potatoes overcooked, almost black. My partners duck was overcooked and very dry. The Cassoulet was tasteless, and again overcooked. Side order of chips were overcooked again, looked reheated. Didn’t stop for puddings. Service was good, would prefer if staff wore masks.More

Hello Roger, what a shame you didn't ask the staff to shut the door as I'm sure they would of done anything to help your visit a better one. I will pass your comments on to our chefs, and I am sorry you didn't enjoy...More

We were staying on a small caravan site in the village, and because of the reviews, booked in to celebrate a significant birthday of my wife's. We were not disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious. It is a small menu, with four choices of starter,...main and dessert, but we were easily able to choose something we wanted without a problem. My wife started with goat cheese and beetroot, and I had trout. For mains, we went for Lamb rump and Halibut. Everything was cooked really well, and the service was excellent. If I had any issue at all, for me, the fish was slightly over seasoned, but I accept I don't tend to use much salt when I cook, and it certainly did not detract from the quality. The desserts are amazing, but we only shared one between us, as we were full. One other thing - although it is very much a 'gourmet pub', the beer is excellent!!!!More

We held a small family get together, and ate at the Bell 2 days in a row. The food was exceptional and the staff were very friendly. Good covid controls were in place. We sat in the garden and inside the Cider Barn, plenty of...spaces and ventilation. The steak was excellent. I had the vegetarian option, which was so tasty. Such a pretty pub in a beautiful friendly village.More

We had an amazing meal at The Bell last night which we booked based on excellent reviews and we were not disappointed! Only 5 minutes drive from our holiday cottage this gem of a gastro pub is well worth a visit. We started with salmon...pavé and crispy beef Asian salad - as shown in the photos. Both were Absolutely delicious. I had flat iron steak with beef shin and my fiancé confit duck leg with cannelloni bean cassoulet which were equally stunning to look at and tasted amazing. We forgot to take pics as we just wanted to dive in and eat! My fiancé had the chocolate mousse for desert and I opted for cheeseboard. Amazing food and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit. Wish our local was this brilliant!!!More

Well done Yarpole for buying the pub and choosing such imaginative and skilful chefs, and thanks too for your welcoming and friendly staff. An absolute gem in a county where good food is hard to find.

Just came back from an awesome meal this evening. Steak cooked to perfection, braised beef shin, creamy mash (and couldn’t not have a side of triple cooked chips)! Pudding was lush too! Definitely recommend! Friendly service and amazing food. Thank you so much!

We visited today for lunch as a family with two kids. Warm welcome and good setup inside. We had moules, whitebait & 2 kids meals of sausage & chips. Simple but really spot on with execution and were absolutely delicious. Our three year old can't...have dairy and so the often vegan dessert options he gets left with are often deeply uninspiring to the adults in the party let alone a three year old. This was not the case, with the vegan dessert offer here so appealing we all had it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would also say that the menu was very well priced for the quality of food. Would thoroughly recommend!More

Took the opportunity on the first Sunny Sunday to meet my kids and enjoy a Lamb Roast in the beautiful garden. It was fabulous, the meat was very tasty, and the vegetables cooked to perfection. The team are very welcoming, and even offered lovely soft...throws when the air chilled later in the afternoon. They serve local ales which kept my hubby happy. The grandchildren children enjoyed the garden and we all caught up revelling in meeting again. The new vegetable garden is worth a walk around before you dine. Very pretty pub restaurant walking distance from Croft Castle (National Trust). Will return again when they open Wed to Sunday. The restaurant menu is always delightful with lots of choice of cuisine for all. A little treasure I will return to.More

A great find!! Attentive, friendly and fast service. Excellent garden food menu - all freshly prepared and home made. Certainly not your usual bought in pub food. Spicy chicken wings, Asian beef salad and yummy chips made for a perfect lunch. We’ll return to try...the more extensive menu when lockdown easing means they can open inside.More
