Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Booked a table for three as celebrating a birthday, food is excellent and tasty freshly cooked to order so may have to wait a short while. All food is sourced locally where possible. Karen and Jim our hosts were very friendly and asked if we had any allergies, explained what was available on the menu. Had a lovely three course meal with wine and beer from Scottish brewers. As this is a small place with only six tables the atmosphere felt very cosy and welcoming. Definitely well worth the visit and will look to go back again.

We absolutely loved our meal here. The owners were so friendly and the food was out of this world. If you are looking for a place to have your special meal of the holiday, this is it. Haggis Wellington starter was delicious, duck and venison mains were loved, and Chocolate Fondant and Sticky Toffy Pudding were heaven on a plate! Very amenable to the kids (fussy 13 year old twins) who thoroughly enjoyed a shared steak and extra chips. Easily the best meal of our holiday and a great memory.

My wife and I recently visited the Struy Inn while up in Scotland. It's the second visit here and I can only say it's the most exciting eating experience I have personally ever had. Jim and Karen are the owners and also Jim is the chef and Karen is front of house.Their hospitality is second to none and they can not do enough to make your evening an exceptional one. The food is based around seafood all fresh from the coast every day and steaks that are out of this world. To start with we had the Haggis Wellington which was just amazing, for our main course my wife had a sirloin steak with homemade chips and fresh vegetables. I had Duck , cooked to perfection and served with Fresh garden vegatables, again out of this world , for dessert I had a homemade cheesecake that tasted of whiskey and orange flavour , again absolutely gorgeous, my wife had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream , which again was made to perfection. Drinks were fantastic and as I enjoy real ale it was great to see there was a wide range of bottled beers from the Orkney Islands brewery at the Struy Inn. My wife had a lovely glass of wine and some Gin and diet lemonade, with fresh fruit in it. For top shelf connoisseurs there is a wide range of whiskeys. All in all an amazing place to eat and with fantastic hospitality from Jim and Karen, we will certainly visit again.A massive thankyou to both of them for running such an amazing restaurant, and creating a wonderful eating experience and making our stay in Scotland another one to remember.

Visited with my partner and my parents and had a wonderful meal with a great atmosphere in a beautiful location. Food was top quality and really well cooked, extensive drink selection, all very reasonably priced. Both the other tables when we visited were repeat visitors, and I'm sure we will be too!

What a fantastic team Jim and Karen are. Jim is a fabulous chef, the food was perfectly cooked and Karen was a brilliant hostess - friendly, attentive and welcoming. If I was going to chose anywhere to have my last meal, this would be the place.

Because of the Corona Virus the restaurant isn’t able to open so instead are temporarily providing takeaways. Last week we had fish and chips and this week the cannelloni. Both meals were extremely good as was the service we received. Disappointed not to be able to use the restaurant but would thoroughly recommend the takeaway.

We have eaten here on quite a few occasions whilst staying at Eagle Brae, it us only about ten minutes in the car from our great accommodation. My husband and daughter in law had dinner here whilst I stayed with grandchildren, and had the most delicious meal. The lobster was outstanding, also the scallops starter. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. I wish I could have joined them, The style of food is, I believe, that which most people appreciate, wonderful local products cooked very traditionally and full of flavour, with delightful sauces rather than mysterious foams which liquidise on your plate. Jim and Karen are exceptional hosts , so very friendly. If you are in the area do try this exceptional little inn, you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, what a fabulous evening at The Struy Inn. Always been closed in the winter months when we've stayed at Eagle Brea previously. Well worth the wait, every course was delicious and I don't think I can remember eating a better steak!! Not very often you have the Chef coming out to talk to the guests plus Karen is the perfect host! What a team.

A very warm welcome and an amazing dining experience at the Struy Inn last night. Particular highlights included the Orkney crab mornay, the steak, haddock and fries, duck and of course the chocolate fondant. All superb and great that their prices had been held down, without reducing quality or portion sizes, despite the level of inflation over the last year.

Myself and my husband booked a table whilst we were on holiday. We got there and were sat in the middle of the room directly behind a table with three people on it. We normally don't like being sat in the centre of the room, but didn't say anything even though there were other two seater tables available. Given menus and asked what drinks we would like. There was no draughted beer or larger so my husband settled for a bottle of cider, I had a fruit juice. Our food arrived in good time, I went for the burger and my husband went for the fish which came in bread crumbs mushy minted peas, only thing was fries not chips? I also had fries which I couldn't eat as they had been salted and I can not take salt. The fish was lovely and so was my burger. We didn't bother with a sweet, or coffees. We did find the place tired and it had no atmosphere. So unfortunately we would not re book.

What a wonderful find! A real family run pub where we received a very warm welcome and lots of lovely home cooked food. We both had the steak which was cooked perfectly, followed by a delicious chocolate fondant. Very hearty portions, perfect for after a day's hike! Definitely recommend this pub for a warm and inviting evening.

Our annual trip to Loch Ness this year is also highlighted by another visit to see Jim and Karen at the Struy inn. The food here is excellent and we always look forward to our visit. As always great food and a friendly atmosphere. I stuck with my favourite and the same as I had last visit... The haggis wellington , an exceptional meal but this applies right across the Struy inn menu. The ale I chose with my meal this time was from Orkney brewery and was called 'Northern lights'. Another visit done , didn't see the monster but found a real gem in the Struy inn. Thankyou to Jim and Karen.

My other half booked the Struy Inn for a birthday dinner while we were staying in Inverness. We knew the area having previously hiked in Glen Strathfarrar closeby, but I didn't appreciate what an incredible restaurant this was. From the warm welcome from Karen and Jim, to the outstanding food, and the charm inside the Inn. this was a perfect evening. I had crab mornay and vension with a finish of ice cream - incredible flavours and the venison was cooked to perfection. Can't possibly recommend highly enough.

Great little place, newly reopened. It holds about 20, very friendly and accommodating team and great food. Had haggis fritters in whisky sauce, venison stew and fruit crumble, all were delicious. My non veggie mum raved about her celeriac 'steak'. Would definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

Wow what a sensational meal! This has to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had, a warm welcome in very comfortable surroundings. We felt thoroughly spoilt. On our visit my wife had the lobster for her main and I had the venison, both melted in your mouth. Be sure to pre book to avoid disappointment
