We received this as a wedding present and visited for lunch today. The food was great with a lovely use of local produce. The staff were attentive without being over the top within a relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend this fabulous restaurant. Also if...More

I am tempted to say excellent ! - which the food was. At the top end of one star Michelin restaurants. A couple of things dissuade me from saying "excellent" - the first the confusion during booking over the dining time. We requested 7.30 pm...More

Not much to say really other than the title. Definitely worth the money. Fantastic service and cocktails. I can't wait to go back. Perfect.

We were on a business trip to Manchester and Leeds so made a point of booking to eat here after seeing Tommy Banks on Great British Menu and TripAdvisor reviews . They are definitely believing all the publicity because the first thing that the waitress...More

My husband and I booked to go to the Black Swan back in April - we've been looking forward to it ever since. And let me say, it was well worth the wait. The food, service and ambience was excellent - as you'd expect. One...More

From the minute we arrived we were made welcome. The rooms were modern and traditional at the same time. Excellently kitted out and spotlessly clean. The grounds and allotments are stunning and even got chance to ask questions and try foliage being used for that...More

Arrived in the pouring rain, checked in and shown the superb room, nice little touches like fresh milk in the fridge rather than little carton/pot type things. Lovely roll top bath, plenty of hot water. Comfortable sofa and lovely bed. Food experience was good with...More

We visited for lunch on a Saturday, the whole team are faultless. We had the taster menu with paired wine and it was divine. I can't recommend the Black Swan enough-such a special experience. We can't for the next time we visit!

I always base my reviews on whether the experience based on cost warrants a return visit. I can say I'm glad we visited the Black Swan, but it didn't live up to what we expected. Service was good, as was the drinks and food, but...More

Hi, 2 hours is so not enough, 3 plus for sure. There is however one problem, there is a selective phone network it's wise to book your taxi in advance. The Black Swan does however offer a WIFI connection. So if there is an... More

Hi, it's a fairly laid back place so I wouldn't imagine it would be an issue, but a shirt might be more appropriate for dinner.

Michelin-starred Restaurant. 4 AA Rosette Restaurant. AA 5 Star Rooms. "This is an extraordinary place, a true one-off. Unbeatable."- Alastair Sawday's. The Black Swan is dynamic with a truly creative and innovative team developing new ideas from a constantly refreshed palate of produce which we grow and forage ourselves. Guests experience something unique - an intimate reflection of our character, our place and our lives which is in essence "Oldstead Now". Stylishly grounded in tradition and culture yet cut through with a modern earthy, exuberant creativity and the occasional glimpse of eccentricity.
