Was great to go back to the falcon, We got a table straight away and we’re welcomed back like old friends by Norah. With everything changed these days the Falcon staff were on top of everything. All the changes were explained to us with the carvery. Our food came quickly and was delicious! The kids got sausage and chip and chicken nuggets and chips, the portions were big for the price which included ice cream for pudding. My husband got the gammon and chips which was a very large portion. I got the Carvery which is now severed by one of the chefs instead of getting your own. The chef Rob was lovely and very officiant we had a lovely chat as he was plating my food. Everything was spot on, all staff were very friendly, the place was spotless with hand sanitizing stations dotted around. Very affective system in place.

Prior to lockdown we ate here often and as always the food was lovely and staff friendly and helpful. We had carvery as told if we ordered off menu then it would be an hours wait. However, no changes have been made to table configuration as recommended for social distancing. The only member of staff wearing PPE was the carvery chef. No details were taken from us should they need to track and trace. We ate and left very quickly as we felt so uncomfortable.

Janet.... When you came through the door and you were not comfortable, when you believed, we had no complience with Government guidelines, When you felf as if we had no Distancing.. Why.... Oh why.... Did you choose to sit down, browse the menu, order food, then consume the food...... Then leave very quickly as you felt so uncomfortable.... My question is..... WHY DID YOU ENTER IN THE FIRST PLACE..... Our restaurant is so large, we had to move very few tables, to be complient, which by the way, we are, we have been inspected and passed... The wearing of facemasks is very. Very questionable weather they are any good at all and it is NOT A REQUIREMENT TO WEAR THEM.... we feel they are. Intimidating and create germs... So Janet, on leaving iur restaurant, you proceeded to go on Tripadvisor to try and discredit one of our restaurants..... But.... I am happy that i have explained to readers our procedures that are in place are more than adequate and your review, well...... We will let readers decide.... 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ And as you will see from previous reviews, they are mire than happy.... Steve Proud

5* Takeaway Sunday lunch.

On arrival there was a sanitation station and there was adequate signage to ensure social distancing. I was greeted by a member of staff who politely asked if I was sitting in or taking food away. I paid for the food and waited to be served. The two gentlemen who were serving the food were pleasant,professional and very efficient, as were the rest of the staff. The atmosphere and vibe of the bar/restaurant was relaxed and it appeared that they were quite busy. The food was exemplary.Well cooked and very well presented. The quality was second to none and I would highly recommend a visit. There is a Vegan option on the menu which I ordered for my daughter and it was wrapped separately to ensure no cross contamination from the other 2 Carvery meals. We shall be returning for a meal in the near future. A hidden gem which is definitely worth a visit.

Disappointed by 2nd visit

Unlike my terrific 1st visit here before the holidays, there was only 1 vegetarian main on the regular menu (veggie burger) and 1 on the specials menu (veggie sweet and sour). Neither sounded good, so I tried the bruschetta starter from the specials menu; it turned out to be mostly onion on undertoasted bread. The food was slow to arrive even though it wasn't especially busy. The servers are lovely, but they can't make up for understaffing and an underwhelming menu. Not saying we'll never come back, but we're not looking forward to it, either. TL;DR: If you're vegetarian, go to the Swan in Heddon instead. Also, management: Please keep in mind that when patrons offer constructive feedback on sites like this, it's an opportunity to find ways to serve your customers better. There's no need to be defensive.

Hi. Laura... I believe you must have missed somthing when looking for Vegatarian Meals. WE HAVE A VEGATARIAN MENU WITH 5 DISHES ON Vegatarian Sausage and Mash Spicey Bean Burger Halloumi Cheese Sizzler Mexican Vegatarian Fajita Vegetable Stroganoff THERE IS A FURTHER TWO VEGATARIAN DISHES ON THE MAIN MENU AND 3 STARTERS FOR VEGATARIANS.... Laura... Your statement is not correct.... As you will see above..... I have informed readers what we have, which can be backed up by our Website..... And then you say i am defensive..... Lack of consistency in quality

I have been to the falcon several time overs the past few years and have often found the food quality very hit and miss, once served my child sausage that must have been reheated several times that it was impossible to eat and a sandwich with barley any filling at all which at the time I did complain,and we left without eating. I thought I'd give the benifit of the doubt and returned in hope that the quality would have changed since as this was in 2019. Unfortunately not.From arriving we had waited 1.5hr there was barley anything left available on the menu although I do understand they had been rushed off their feet, but after waiting this time I feel my order had either been forgotten and was very rushed, peppercorn sauce was watery, meal was not exactly as I ordered on the menu, steak was rushed and not cooked to liking as requested or giving the chance to rest, peas tasted like dried peas overall was let down, the only positive was the manager who solved the issue with a refund and although I felt awful complaining he was very sincere.There are many other local restaurants where the quality of food would be more consistent so unfortunately I will not be returning for food or recommending to other. I can not fault the bar as I have been for drinks here on numerous occasions and there is lovely outside decking area to enjoy with a beer on a sunny day. There is also no social distancing in the restaurant, people sitting back to back and next to each other on tables although on the door it states to keep distance.

Hi Peanutbuttercup... First i need to clear up your back to back statement, there is very few tables back to back in the restaurant, those that are have been at the ACCEPTANCE OF THE GOVERNMENT RULES... BACK TO BACK IS WITHIN THE RISK ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS... so i am afraid you are wrong on this occasion.... It was me who dealt with this customer and all she complained about was steak being Med/Rare when it was meant to be Medium and she never mentioned anything else,she and MANY MORE customers got told there was an hour wait and got told before sitted that what was missing off the menu.. Yeah she waited an extra time but after a couple times saying Thanking them for there patience and our chefs are doing there best for getting the meals out as quick as they can I have checked with staff as i always do and above was his statement..... So, i believe you knew there would be a wait, and i think the..... HOUR AND A HALF.WAITING ... MAY HAVE BEEN A TAD EXAGGERATED..... But we are glad that you appreciate the professionalism of our Manager and enjoy a drink on our decking.... Regards Steve Proud

Myself and my family bubble

Myself and my family bubble of 7 had a fabulous birthday meal tonight! Lauren our host was attentive and super friendly, she put us at ease and ensured we felt comfortable and relaxed, enabling us to thoroughly enjoy our first outing since lockdown began. The bar/restaurant was busy yet well managed and everyone had their own space. Precautions were in place and encouraged throughout yet not imposing. The food was unreal!!! I’m still contently full hours later and can not highlight the quality of the food more!!! We had a range of dishes including the burgers, steak, pie and kids menu and couldn’t fault it. Steak pie is so tender it melted in the mouth. Portions are large, but since we were celebrating we squeezed in amazing puds and were happy we had. Can’t recommend this place more!!

Lovely Family place

We went to the falcon during the eat out to help out month, they followed government guidelines very well with hand sanitizers all over and one way systems. It was very busy when we went but Nothing was a problem they man who served Us was very friendly and chatted along with us. The food was outstanding we all had starters and mains and we couple of us had a pudding, there was 6 adults and one child!! All the dishes tasted amazing you could tell it was all homemade especially the chunky chips. We will definitely be returning, there Was a lot of choice For food so definitely will be able to try something new next time! All in all it’s a lovely family run pub with great food and is very reasonably priced!

Birthday celebration.

Went to the Falcon with my family for my birthday meal and Caitlin and Lauren went out of their way to ensure I had a lovely night. Food and the service was great and Caitlin was always checking on how we were and never left us sitting without food or drinks. Would highly recommend the Falcon to anyone in/ coming through Prudhoe.

Friday 19th Aug first visit to the Falcon. Things got off to a shaky start, my wife & I ordered the steak pie, after a 15min wait we were informed they had run out, which in its self isn't an issue just thought they would have know sooner as they have a computer system in place. However this slight disappointment proved to be a positive in the end. The very friendly waitress apologized profusely & after reviewing the menu again we both decided on the Barron of Beef. What a great choice that turned out to be. When it arrived there were 2 what can only be described as slabs of the most tender tasty beef we've had in a very long time. I opted for the chips & veg my wife went for new potatoes & veg, all of which were perfectly cooked & not half raw like a lot of places do these days. There was so much neither of us could finish & even ended up taking one piece of beef & some potato home, which was just as good the next day. Upon paying we mentioned the confusion & whom i'm assuming was the owner again apologized & said if we come back for the pie & didn't like it it would be free. We fully intend to give it a try soon.

Hi Skifan Apologies for the selling out of our Steak Pie...., we have had the same recipe for .....20 years, we just cannot seem to make enough of them, but believe me that when you come in next to try it, you will understand why... I cannot remember anyone saying they disliked it, in any of our outlets, I will be looking for your five star review on it.... So pleased you's enjoyed your Barron of Beef, cooked to your delight.... Stomach problems after dining here. Would be hesitant to eat here again.

Unfortunately since eating here myself and my partner have been rather unwell throwing up etc. The setting outdoors was lovely and we did enjoy the food my mother's food was extremely spicy and she couldn't eat it. We ordered the southern fried chicken it was tasty but the garlic sauce tasted a sour. The staff where welcoming but with how busy it was the service was struggling there were lots of mistakes with our drinks and a long wait time. The ordering system was awkward if you were outside. If you wanted to pay by card you had to order from your table then go in to pay as you bought your drinks, we were unable to set up a tab outside. We thought due to paying inside we could just order and pay at the bar to avoid the waitress trekking back in for us but we were rudely told by the bar staff to wait at our table which we then sat for a long time waiting to order. I will be hesitant to eat the food here again but may return for a drink as the outside atmosphere was very nice.

Good Day... I have read your comments with interest and wonder if you have ANY PROOF AT ALL that your stomach problems were caused as you say , by our food... we served hundreds of meals that day... but only you had problems, no one else, so can I suggest, that you were unwell for some other reason, but certainly not our food... I am sorry you dont like our payment system, but once again, it works well with hundreds of customers each day, the problems this Government causes, is not our doing. It's nice you see you all enjoyed our new outdoor beer garden, we made a considerable investment to keep our customers happy and content... Let's hope on your next visit, all is well for you.. Amazing Food Amazing Staff

We visit here regularly after we finish work, staff are always lovely, cheerful and extremely helpful. Lauren especially goes out of her way to help (she even remembers what my favourite is!) I ordered Beef stew with dumpling, and cauliflower cheese. Omg!! Absolutely amazing! Portion sizes are enormous and the quality of the food is superb, the chunks of beef we huge, and tender. My husband ordered the steak pie, chios and beans! Omg! His pie was the depth of a brick! And rammed with loads of steak!! Can't recommend this place enough! The staff and food are amazing.

Who would not want to be loomed after, the way Lauren and her team look after you, Lauren is a natural for this business and yes..... She e us an asset 😍😍😍😍😍 His pie was the depth of a brick! Popped in on our break for a quick meal while working a shift for the NHS (for food not drink), staff were very nice and accommodating making sure we got food quickly so we'd have time to finish it before our break was done. Was very busy outside but they made sure we had our own space. Food was great.

Soo good of you to tell everyone of you pleasant dining experience at our new Huge beer garden, the Artificial grass should be coming very soon, plus extra heaters have have been installed... Our new menu is going down brilliant...I would definitely recommend the chicken gougon and the full freshest chicken burger coated in our very own batter..there is no better..... maybe next time... Not happy that the carvery has changed and wasn't told . Far to much gravy on my plate veg served on side was a joke peas loads of carrots hardly any cauliflower cheese I don't like . Turnip mash roast potatoes parsnips Yorkshire pudding served on your plate no stuffing? The staff obviously knew that we weren't happy as not asked if everything was ok very disappointed as normal staff and food great☹️

You can't bottle staff enthusiasm!

Visited again today as our last visit was so good. This time just me, the better half and our little one. A mixed visit but for all the right reasons....... The greeting on arrival was warm and friendly and we were shown to a table straight away. Immediately asked if we would like any drinks (some people would consider this as being pressured, but in fact in the industry it is commonly considered a welcoming part of the aforementioned greeting) Drinks were ordered and a young blonde lady (unfortunately we didn't catch her name) asked if we were ready to order food, sadly we weren't although we asked if we could order our little ones food while we looked at the menu. This request was greeted with "yes of course, no problem at all" phew!!! This meant we could relax for at least a while 😁 We ordered our food and unfortunately cannot comment on its taste or presentation whilst we were in the restaurant as we ended up asking for it to be packaged as a takeaway due to the wait. HOWEVER.......this wait was something that was 100% understandable and absolutely blameless. The restaurant filled up so quickly (presumably due to its excellent reputation) it was almost impossible for anyone to have coped with the level of diners, HOWEVER (number 2), the young blonde lady was nothing short of exceptional. Absolutely exceptional. She was flying around the entire building serving what appeared to be everyone with a beaming smile on her face. It's easy to become disgruntled when you feel the wait on food is too long or you have to wait an extra few mins for a drink but when you look around and take in the workload that servers/hospitality staff are carrying it is only right to praise those that deserve it. The young lady was incredible and would be an asset to any organisation. Food was stunning although my plating skills may not be to the same standard as your chefs 😂 Will return again (and again). The Falcon really is flying high right now!

Ahhhhhhhhhh Just me, This review was absolutely amazing , I have read it three times and still astounded.... I believe the young blond lady may have been our Beth... it has her attitude written all over it, she has been part of the Family Team for over 18 years, her husband is one of our top Chefs in the kitchen, because all our Chefs, are top end professional artists in food... We maintain our staff, because we hope that they are happy and content at the way we look after them, in comparison...The Whole FOH Team Look after us with their amazing skills at looking after our customers... Justme, I cannot wait to see your next review, if this one is anything to go by, if I was reading this for the first time, I would be dining there tonight... Happy family meal

I have visited the Falcon on numerous occasions and always enjoyed it so when my in laws visited from down south we took them for a meal and they were very impressed, my father in law and me had the steak pie (photo) perfect pastry and full of chunks of steak, mother in law had the southern friend chicken strips couldn't beleive the size of the pieces that was on her plate, hubby and niece had burgers both enjoyed them and couldn't finish everything that was on their plates. There were no complaints from anyone. The staff were very friendly, professional and attentive. So pleased to say that yet again we left full and happy. Top marks to The Falcon
