Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the cafe with friends for an enjoyable refreshment break on our walk round Derwentwater. However our experience was totally overshadowed by the attitude of our waitress, who served us without so much as a smile or any form of acknowledgement whatsoever, we were astounded....So much for cumbrian hospitality. Needless to say we won't be visiting again. Such a pity as you couldn't fault it in all other respects.More

We popped here for a quick bite to eat before heading home after a few days in Keswick, We had a bacon roll and tea to start the day right The bacon was crispy with a nice bap to go with it, the service is...great and with seating both inside and out theres plenty room , this is a popular place as its between Keswick and the cat bells walk along the marina and Derwentwater, great menu for breakfast or throughout the day , highly recommend and we will definitely be back soonMore

Went here for breakfast one morning before walking around Derwent water. I opted for the veggie Benedict, husband had the eggs benidict and my daughter the blueberry pancakes. The food arrived quickly and the food was lovely. Eggs poached to perfection!

Dropped in here for breakfast after checking out from our apartment across the road in Portinscale and had a fantastic breakfast. The staff are really friendly. The kitchen is open to full view and you can see everything cooked from scratch as you wait. Some...really interesting options that aren't just the standard full English - although the Cumbrian breakfast did look very good. Very informal atmosphere with customers of all ages in muddy boots. Well behaved dogs made we're made very welcome, although none in our party. Ingenious sunflower system to indicate when you're ready to order. The waitress appeared immediately, almost by magic, drinks were delivered just a couple of minutes later and meals in a few minutes more. We shared a Tiroler Grostl (which was very substantial, tasty and full of delicious ham) and pancakes with syrup and a very generous served bacon. It really set us up for a day walking in the beautiful Newlands valley just down the road. The design of the place really is reminiscent of alpine restaurants in ski resorts - a great findMore

We stopped off for breakfast whilst doing the walk around Derwentwater. The breakfasts were ok and the cafe clean, what let the visit down was the lack of customer service and social skills of the staff. On the morning we visited they cannot have been...the same friendly crew mentioned in some reviews, there was no welcome, no smile no banter just a miserable attitude. It’s a shame as the cafe is in an excellent spot for walkers, next time we will be walking on to the Lingholme Cafe, where a warm welcome is given by staff with social skills.More

Been here once before after doing Cat Bells and made a wet trip across from Keswick centre to here to try the Avocado toast again. Didn’t disappoint at all and my partners choice looked lovely too. Lovely, warm and airy inside, all staff were attentive...and the lady who is mentioned with the colourful hair was lovely and I could hear her chatting away to a visitor so was surprised to see some reviews here saying the opposite. Happy customer here and look forward to a return again!More

Me and my partner were staying just over the road from this lovely eating place. We had lunch which was delicious and so decided to have breakfast the following morning. Again a wonderful full English breakfast cooked to perfection. The place was spotlessly clean which...is something i don’t see often now in most eating places. The babies high chairs were lovely and clean too which was nice to see for a change. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I would advise anyone staying in Derwentwater to visit this lovely establishment for a bite to eat and drink.More

We dropped in here following a morning on Derwent Water, paddle boarding and rowing. It was so well organised. The seating outside was really busy and at first we were a little disappointed to have to sit in side. However once we stepped inside we...really loved the feel and decore. The staff were so efficient and well organised. The food was delicious, good portion size. The tuna melt was delicious and packed with filling. We did have our eyes on the amazing cakes. Unfortunately (we’ll only because we didn’t have any room) we’d already had birthday cake for breakfast. We would 100% return again especially after an action packed morning.More

We first visited here a couple of years ago and enjoyed our afternoon tea, so we decided to call in for lunch. I went for the BLT and my socks were blown away! From the first mouthful this bad boy was in a class of...his own! The Ciabatta bread roll enveloped rashers of gorgeous bacon, lettuce, tomato and smashed avocado, with salad, coleslaw and crisps on the side. Every bite was pure heaven! My taste buds still think that they're on holiday, and my mouth is watering just writing this review!!More
