An amazing restaurant to visit. Food incredible. Patrons Paolo and Cinzia cannot do enough for you. View is spectacular. Wine list is a wine buff’s heaven. Value for money. Cannot recommend this restaurant and hotel highly enough.

Very good wine selection. Hight level menu with Italian revisited dish very teasing. I strong suggest it. The service is very good also.
Back after lockdown- still the most amazing, friendly restaurant in Umbria! Food excellent- great wine selection- thank you so much
We went for dinner with my family , the location is very beautiful, perfect place for a quite night. We started with selection of meat plates(the duck plate was amazing ❤️first time when I ever eat duck and for sure won't be the last). Pasta...with truffle and bacon was something unbelievable. We finished with a delicious chocolate cheesecake. Can't remember last time when I had a meal like these one.More
Simply the best!! Excellent local products cooked and served to utter perfection. All the flavours balanced and presented with pride. Excellent wine cellar and Paulo can and is happy to guide you so you choose excellent Umbrian wine.
Prepared pasta and pizza from scratch. Desserts (2) were also prepared - all of the above hands on! We received a lesson in making pecorino and ricotta cheese. Dinner with wine - happily consuming all we made!
We were with a tour group that had a cooking class included at this restaurant. This is one of the reasons we chose this tour. We love Italian food and experimenting. We made bread, ravioli, saw how cheese is made. Overall a great experience. A...lot of fun. We did get to dine on our creations.More
We spent about 5 hours having a very hands on cooking class, learning how to make pasta and pizza dough and then ravioli, pizzas, rolls and focaccia and a frozen dessert. Next we watched a demonstration of ricotta and pecorino making and then sat outside...with wine, enjoying the view. Finally, a delicious dinner of pizza, ravioli, pasta, along with charcuterie ( vegetarian options available) and dessert. A great and useful experience.More
As part of a Collette tour, we participated in a cooking class and enjoyed the meal the chef prepared using the food items we made which included roughly cut pasta, ravioli, focaccia, tiramisu and semi-freddo. The staff was great to work with and we learned...a lot about traditional Italian cooking in the Umbrian region. After the class (while the chef worked his magic), we enjoyed a tour of the adjacent village led by the chef's son. The area is beautiful and I would recommend this to people who enjoy preparing food.More
We stayed here in the last week of September so we were the only ones at the hotel. I say this as maybe it has a bearing on our experience. The location is spectacular with views down the valley and the local hillside village is...like something out of a film set! Our room had no outside windows as such however, the passageway to the ensuite bathroom had doors out to a communal patio which overlooked the valley. But the room was still quite dark and lights had to be on whenever you were in the room. The lady (chef?) was pleasant enough but did only speak Italian, all the time. So, as our Italian is not the best (and I know us British can be lazy like that!) , this may have affected our choice of food in the restaurant. We used Google Translate to make our choices and whilst the pasta was very good, the "lamb chops" were not chops at all, but just pieces of lamb. Overall, I felt that €140 for dinner, bed and breakfast plus two bottles of beer and two bottles of water was a bit much - for two of us. I am comparing this to other places we have stayed in during our trip through Italy.More
Fantastic!!! Ok food amazing wedding venue the very very best food excellent what else paulo xxxxxxxx What else
We made a left turn, instead of a right turn, and found ourselves driving up to a really cool hilltop hamlet, I Casali di Vallo di Nera. There we found Locanda Cacio Re and thoroughly enjoyed a lunch that included gnocchi and trout. The service...was great given the host/hostess were very patient with our inability to speak Italian. We look forward to returning before we return back to the states.More
This restaurant (which also offers rooms) is superbly located in the charming hillside village of Vallo di Nera - in the Valnerina, no more than 15 minutes from Spoleto. High on a hill, it offers wonderful views of the valley, by day and night. In...summer, there is an expansive terrace for al fresco meals. Paolo and Cinzia are warm and friendly hosts who will immediately put you at ease. Moreover, their menu is supported by wonderful local produce (meats, cheeses, truffles) and they are skilled chefs, so the culinary experience is always excellent. The wine selection is good and Paolo can give valuable advice if you are not familiar with regional wines. We spend a lot of time in this area. Cacio Re is without doubt the stand-out restaurant. It has the whole package - location, culinary excellence, friendly and first-class service. Moreover, prices are very reasonable, giving genuine expression to 'value for money'.More
This restaurant did not disappoint in any aspect: Excellent food, beautiful view, professional service, and superb value for money. Try the surprisingly varied cheese platter, and if you're daring - one of their special desserts.
It's our first time here, but Cinzia and Paolo welcome us as old friends. They immediately share their "secrets" on jam preparation with our 10 year boy, help us in the rooms and leave us to our relax. Food is great. Menù offers good choice...and in two dinners we have tried a lot (our favourite: strengozzi al tartufo, caramella al tartufo, costine di abbacchio al lardo di colonnata, cheese cake); good selection of wines, though mostly concentrated on local wines (but the Sagrantino selected for us by Paolo was really remarkable). Great selection of cheese, while the "affettati" (ham and similar) were less interesting. The fresh air, the green valley in front of us, the nice digestive walk in the old village perfectly restored and the simple but quite room made the rest. Will definitely get back!More
