We ate here today for our twins’ birthday lunch. It was fantastic! The staff were brilliant as was the food. My husband had the scallop starter, we had potato skins, bruschetta, garlic bread with tomato, pizzas and pasta. Absolutely beautiful. As soon as we arrived the lady wished our boys happy birthday and when they asked for sticky toffee pudding they came with candles and a sparkler. The staff sang happy birthday and the boys loved it! We will definitely be back.

We came here early on a busy Saturday evening. Our daughter was working in the theatre, so we had very limited time for a meal. The person taking the order had kindly advised us on booking that they would need the table back by a certain time, which was well within our reach.
The staff were just great, taking our order and bringing the food really promptly, so we even had time for dessert.
The food itself was really tasty - we had pasta dishes that were just excellent. Great service from all the staff - friendly and pleasant, especially the young girl serving us.
Really recommend it!

Superb!
Staff were helpful and the food was delivered promptly and was nice and hot.
Happy hour chicken rosemary was very tasty and at a great price.
Chicken was tender, there was plenty of sauce and the veg was the just as I like it, al dente...not at all soggy but equally not so much undercooked that they're damn near raw (there were also potatoes but I'm in a keto diet so had removed them, hence not in the pic).
Was also able to order a bottle of wine to accompany the meal, it was at a reasonable price and very palatable.
Will defibately be ordering again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend based on the meal I've just eaten.

Food overestimated for its prices and taste, and honestly there are many more italian restaurants downtown to try & eat well. I cant forget that awful behaviour of a man around his 45-50's that was shouting his collegues/staff and behaving like crazy. Zero respect for the customers and staff as well. The only reason after that day that would make us wanna go again is the perfect service of the young staff working there, kind and smiley.

Booked a table for 5 people @ 6.30pm the following week, and confirmed that Happy hour menu was available until 7pm.
Went to Roma the next week and was told the menu stopped being served at 5.30pm?
Wasn't too bothered as only I wanted to order from the happy hour menu, but I prefer not to be lied to at time of booking....put a bit of a dampner on the evening.
Garlic bread was overpowering and greasy but potatoe skins were nice
Main course pastas were very nice but the pizzas were soggy and limp.
Parmesan cheese was served in a discoloured Tupperware tub (classy).
We were regulars at Roma before the Pandemic but it looks as though it has gone downhill a bit.
I think I'll try a few different restaurants in future...shame.

For our first meal out since the beginning of the lockdown, we chose one of our favourite restaurants in the area and were delighted to find that dining there was just as enjoyable as ever, despite the new restrictions. We had worried that the atmosphere may have been effected by social distancing rules but the management have applied precautions with great subtlety which barely impinge on the experience. Tables are well spaced, the staff are as friendly as ever but never encroach and high standards of hygiene are obvious.
Our meal was excellent, as ever, with some fabulous specials from the board and great wine to wash it down with. We were there for about two and a half hours but never felt rushed, rather welcomed as returning patrons.
Wonderful evening and a very reassuring return to eating out.

Popped into Roma after a quick Google search as we wanted to grab a spot of lunch before going to the Sunderland Empire for Disney's Beauty and the Beast (amazing sow by the way, go see it).
There was a brief wait as we entered, as, although it was busy, there only appeared to be two waiting staff, however, we were quickly shown to a table. I think we arrived at the right time, as very soon all tables were taken.
We scanned the menu, and staff came over to take our order. Between us we ordered potato skins, a meatball pizza, lasagne, and a Contadina risotto, along with some drinks.
The drinks came quickly, and it was whilst having a sly peek at what other customers were having we realised that we made a mistake. The portions looked massive. Even the kids portions!
Anyway, our food came fairly quickly, and, sure enough, portions were huge! I'm not even exaggerating. For the price that you're paying (all sub-£9) you were getting portions larger than you would expect. I've been to big name Italian places and gotten far less food for much more money.
My nephew enjoyed the pizza, we all did. It was very tasty with a lovely tomato sauce base. The meatballs seemed to be handmade and made from a beef mince, I could be wrong, but they were lovely and moist.
The lasagne, with came with a slice of rustic bread was an absolute treat. Huge in size, very cheesy, and filled with meat. Now, I'm a fan of risotto and this (which contained chunks of chicken) was very, very nice. Probably amongst the best I've ever had. The potato skins might as well be renamed jacket potatoes, as the majority were thick. They did not skimp on anything here!
Staff, despite being busy, and only two of them waiting on tables, were brilliant. Nothing was too much bother for them, they were very polite and attentive.
During the proceedings someone was celebrating their birthday and all the staff, even kitchen, came out to make some noise and to sing. The person celebrating absolutely loved it. The whole thing added to an awesome lunchtime, with great food, great company, and great staff.
From now on, this is my "go to place" whenever I am in Sunderland, and certainly before any theatre shows, as I was full right up until night time!
Oh, the price? Under £45, for four meals, a starter, and several drinks. This is chump change for the brilliant quality of the food.
Marvellous.

Recently visited here after going to the Sunderland Empire with the family, the steak was delicious and the waiter was very accommodating with the children. I am sad to say that this is the first and last time I will visit, we had to cut our night short due to swearing and noise we could hear coming from the kitchen. Not something I want my children hearing. We also waited ages on the vegetables coming, luckily I started my steak or it would have been cold. I’d recommend trying Sorento which is nearby, we’ve booked there for our next visit 👍

My husband and I dined here for the first time in a very long time and I have to say this is one of the nicest dining experiences we've had in a while. The restaurant is coping extremely well with the Covid19 situation and is immaculate as are the staff. Our food was delicious and there was so much choice on the happy hour menu, they also offer an a la carte menu. We thoroughly enjoyed being here and have booked for next week too. I feel that this will become a regular dining option for us. Thank you to you all.

After Theatre food
We ordered a table for 9 of us after going to the Theatre
Table was booked for 8pm but we got hungry so phoned and asked if we could arrive earlier.
No problem !
Staff were lovely and Soon took our orders .
Lovely starters 👏 me and my friend had the Garlic mushrooms 🍄 which were lovely
Then we all ordered various main courses . I ordered the tagliatelle carbonara it was cooked perfect! And a decent plate full. My friend ordered a lovely chicken dish with king prawns and Vegetables she really enjoyed it . And my friend who is very picky ordered the Bolognese and she ate every bit.
Would definitely come back as the staff , service and food was lovely. The best Carbonara I've had in ages it was yummy 😋

We were staying at the local Premier Inn (5 minute walk away) and wanted a nice takeaway. Looked online for the reviews and chose this place.
So pleased we did, we walked in and ordered and the staff were lovely and welcoming. Although we didn't eat in the restaurant it looked very nice and well set out and very clean.
The portion sizes were huge, we ordered 3 pizzas and 3 chips for three of us and in reality 2 pizzas and chips would have been plenty.
The bill was under £20, which for the quality and quantity of the food was amazing.
The pizzas were cooked to perfection and the chips were massive and so tasty.
We'd definitely come back here again.

This restaurant is consistently the best for food, service and atmosphere. The flavours are second to none, and we have ate at many restaurants. The level of choice is of a high standard, nothing is beyond their ability to make it a most enjoyable experience. Even when our friends on one occasion were needing gluten free and vegan options, Vic and Mehmet were happy to accommodate us by giving a short notice beforehand. Now that’s top service! We love this place, and should go more often, we recommend Roma’s without hesitation. Superb.

We had a takeaway from you for the first time last night after my sister recommended you. I have to say it was probably the best takeaway we have had. The food was delicious, piping hot and very well packaged. Thank you so much. We will definitely be ordering on a regular basis!!

We have been ordering takeaway from Roma for a long time and have always loved it.
The food that was delivered this evening was inedible. They’ve either replaced the mozzarella for the pizzas with a cheap terrible alternative or they ran out of mozzarella and gave us what amounted to cheese you’d get from a can you squirt - it was absolutely rank.
I’ve messaged the restaurant in the hope they’ve tried to get away with one but if not, and this is now the ‘standard’, there is no way anyone can enjoy what they are offering. AVOID.

Visited mid afternoon on a Thursday and we were the only customers but the reviews on here were very positive. Had starters of Tomato Soup and Mussels&King Prawns in garlic and white wine. Plenty of mussels, a good size and still in their shells.
Mains were Pollo Arrabiata and Pollo Strogonoff both with chips. All courses were delicious and washed down with very reasonably priced drinks.
More couples were arriving throughout our stay.
Very friendly staff and prompt service.
