I visited with a large group of friends, the food was excellent, portions are huge and reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and attentive, they catered very well for my gluten allergy there were GF pizza and pasta options available and the pizza was...one of the best Gluten free ones I’ve had. Visited Marcellos again tonight (second time in two weeks). New owners who continue the good reputation and can’t do enough for you. Quite busy but nothing a trouble. Food prompt and tasty. We will be back
We went out to celebrate our two friends 60th birthdays. There was 26 of us. The tables were set out lovely for us. The staff were very accommodating from start to finish. The food standard was outstanding! Considering how many people there was. To finish...at the end the staff brought complimentary desserts with a candle in for each lady whom had a birthday, we all sang to them and it made them feel very special. Tentatively looked after by Alessandro this evening. We were made aware of a special offer, buy 2 x Filetto Mari e Monti (fillet steak with king prawns in a white wine sauce) and receive a free bottle of house wine, opted for this. Steak was...cooked to perfection and prawns perfect, sauce wasn't overpowering. Home cooked fat chips were delicious (or veg too). Then for dessert we had a melt in the middle chocolate pudding with caramel ice cream which was so good and made me pleased I decided against a starter! Mam has the tiramisu which was great too. Amaretto coffee's to finish, new chef recently started and great to see they know their way around the kitchen!More
Marcellos back on form. New owners, new extended menu, all the old favourites but great new additions too. Vegetarian pasta dish was exceptional as was the Lobster Ravioli enjoyed by one of our group. Desserts were divine. Marcello always been a firm favourite of ours. When we heard business had been sold to new owners decided to give it another try. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Only new so still learning the ropes,but did very well. Sad to see restaurant a bit...quiet for Friday evening but can only hope this picks up with a good reputation. We had calamari and meatball for starters each. Followed by seafood linguine and Amatriciana. Then coffee. Both had a glass of wine each. Total cost £48. So good value. Food was very tasty and we both said we would return. The reason for 4/5 was the restaurant seemed to lack ambience but maybe this is due to recent take over and will be addressed soon. Great value food. Only complaint was asking for some water (twice) which never arrived, also only getting mints with the bill for 4 people. A bit stingy.
Ordered a takeaway & was disappointed. The Chicken was dry & over cooked, totally inedible. Strangest peppercorn sauce I have ever had, was just cream with some peppercorns floating in it. The sauce had no taste whatsoever. Chips were nice but slightly overcooked also. Only...good part was the profiteroles. Will not order againMore
Lovely food at Marcellos tonight after a last minute booking. we both had the garlic mushrooms which came on two pieces of toast and were very creamy followed by delicious risotto marinara which was packed with seafood. Very attentive service from the staff checking everything...was ok for us. Looking forward to returningMore
Ordered a delivery, pizza not good very thin and falling apart. Also had the veg risotto which was bland and tasteless and the sauce was watery. The goat cheese starter was the only good part which was actually enjoyable but that’s just a toast with...grilled goat cheese and roasted peppers. Ordered sticky toffee pudding which was described as warm dessert with vanilla ice cream well no ice cream came with the delivery. Won’t be ordering again nor visiting the restaurant.More
Marcellos has been there for years, I probably visited over 10 years ago. The decor has never changed and makes the place look run down and reminiscent of the 1980’s! We were squeezed into the furthest of corners of a downstairs room with the other...diners, the only part they seemed to utilise it made us felt uncomfortable, cramped and awkward. The music is continual, repetitive piano ‘lift’ music. The food was ok, reflecting the low cost. The two waiting staff did not communicate and after asking for more drinks never received them. It’s in a sorry state… redecorate and train the staff this would be a great improvement. Sad seeing it like this after so many years.More

Obviously cutting costs, Pizza had the biggest crust ever with very little topping, more like a Yorkshire pudding. Had Chicken dish which was so salty unable to eat, In drastic need of refurb, decor so drab.
Excellent restaurant. First time visiting. Excellent, very well priced children’s menu. Fantastic gluten free offer - best gluten free pizza I’ve had - I had the carne pizza! Lovely staff, excellent service, would definetely recommend and come again!
A nice homely restaurant with good, very reasonably priced food. Friendly and helpful staff who were eager to please. We booked nice and early before the theatre and had a lovely relaxed meal with a 5min walk to the show. I had teenagers with me,...another table had young children. Everyone was welcomed. A great little family restaurant.More
