The home made food freshly prepared by friendly professional staff and the clean homely restaurant with views of Penshaw monument are why this place is always busy. With an attached award winning butcher shop and garden centre, there is no reason not to visit! I'll be back very soon

Really friendly and popular tea room, cheap/affordable (less than £5 for quiche with salad), quite a few dishes to choose from (pies, quiches, paninis, soup) and sweets. Just 5-10 minutes from the Penshaw monument, accessible by bus from Sunderland train station.

You get nice coffee, good scones, great soup and other meal options if you want. Before you go in here try a visit to the Garden centre or the butcher shop on the site. The Sausages are smashing and so is the meat.

I have visited this tearoom many times, but yesterday we were served fruit scones which were dry and tasteless. They were rock hard but not as pleasant as a rock bun. Also, £2.20 is excessive for a pot of tea.

We popped in here on the off chance one sunny day. We had our dog with us and we wanted somewhere that offered outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was lovely and there was lots of it. The food was beautiful and the quiche was amazing. We went back the following week, we enjoyed it that much. We will be regular... More

Maybe the chef was off, but food not good. Hot food served cold, either the cakes were bought at Costco or they use the same recipe. Heard some good things about this place; sadly it didn't live up to its reputation. Will not be returning

Passed this place many times but never realised it was such a superb eatery. Deep Quiches and pies and cakes so big and tasty. Prices very very reasonable. Definitely going back.

Had to go to Pallion to get wallpaper and passed this tea room on the way there. Decided to return the same way and call in for lunch. Not the easiest entrance to find as having passed it had to turn round and retrace steps and turn in as if going up to the monument. It was worth the seeking... More

I visited the tea rooms for the first time today with my two young grandsons, we were taken to a table very speedily and I ordered a warm cheese scone and latte for myself, ham and cheese toastie , a piece of steak and ale pie no trimmings other than crisps for the children. My coffee arrived quickly but I... More
