I visited here today with an elderly friend of mine. It was my first time visiting but I had heard alot about the place from others. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and was packed out, we were very lucky to find a table which was...the last one that was free. We both wanted a lunch option but my friend wanted something off the special board, it was 1140 and they don't serve these meals till 12 so we decided to wait before ordering which was fine with the staff. We both had a pot of tea which came in a lovely white teapot and was served with a teacup and saucer. The tea was lovely and of a good quality. 12oclock soon came round and I went and ordered out meals. I had the jacket potato and cheese and my friend had a lamb kofta burger and chips. We weren't waiting long before the meals arrived. They were presented on big white plates and there was plenty of food. My jacket potato was cooked to perfection and came with salad and a homemade coleslaw which was very creamy. The lamb kofta burger was served with chips and salad. The chips were very chunky and not greasy and were cooked to perfection. The staff here are very attentive and friendly even though they were ran off their feet. Tables quickly filled up when people left so I could quickly tell that it is a very popular establishment. Everything was very clean and they did a good variety of food on there menus. I will definitely be going back but next time I will indulge in the afternoon tea which looked amazing. Especially the homemade scones which were the biggest I'd ever seen. I highly recommend this place lunch and even though we didn't have the breakfast menu I imagine that the breakfast on offer will just be as good.More

We had a fabulous Afternoon Tea celebration for 15 of us for my Best Friend's Hannah's Baby Shower. Ellen and the team at The Potting Shed were extremely friendly and helpful and gave an excellent all round service. The food, venue and warm atmosphere was...perfect in every way. So much food included in the afternoon tea- I would highly recommend. Ellen also allowed me to bring in my own finishing touches to the venue which I was really grateful for. Thank you to you all xMore

The cafe had a pleasant atmosphere and was nicely decorated inside. I ordered the BLT sandwich which was tasty and the coffee was nice. Our table had some crumbs on it as we sat down so it could have been cleaned a little more thoroughly....What irritated me was the gentleman (manager?) who kept coming over to take any empty plates and cups away as soon as one of us had finished eating/drinking. It wasn't busy so I'm presuming the table wasnt needed, so why not wait until we were all finished rather than leaning over people who were still eating. We felt a little rushed which was a shame. The staff who were served were not the most pleasant either.More

Have visited several times before…..went to counter to order, forget to get table number so offered to go back…lady on till said where are you seated, was polite and helpful….when waitress came over said….you said it was table 16, not 15 and pointed to 15...on table and said can’t you see in a very rude, condescending way….I tried to explain but she wouldn’t listen…..she said they won’t know which table to deliver food to, knowing full well it would be her…… very disappointed….when we got food my friend wanted granary bread, had white, left half of her sandwich….I hope management take note of this behaviour…I think she forgot who was the customer.More

The venue and surroundings here are really lovely. However the food is not what it used to be. The worst part is the almost raw fatty bacon provided with the bacon. My order was also mixed up a couple of times. It was ok but...nothing more.More

We used the potting shed for my friends baby shower. I can’t fault the venue and service. Ellen and her team were very attentive but then left us to it once the guests arrived as we had the private room (conservatory). The buffet was lovely...and not your average “beige buffet” you usually get at places. All home made food and plentiful. When paying for a buffet per head, you sometimes end up with the food running out quite quickly but this wasn’t the case at the potting shed there was more than enough food! They set the room up for us and added pretty table clothes and all the chairs matched :) All in all a great room to host a small event. Thank you Ellen and your team!More

No problem with the wheelchair. Don't know about dogs but it's a garden center and there's plenty of seating outside so I can't see dogs being a problem :)
