Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a real gem of a restaurant. One of the best Thai meals we’ve ever eaten in the UK, and that is saying something. The food is authentic Thai, and clearly made fresh and with love and care by hard working owners and kitchen...staff. The waiter was perfect - good humour, attentive and helpful. The linen table cloths and impeccable cleanliness helped and is so unusual these days. Lovely buoyant atmosphere. We would definitely eat there again next time we are in St Helens. Thank you for a lovely evening.More

This was our first visit to a "proper" Thai restaurant, but it certainly won't be the last. Great meal, nice wine and good service (which was welcome as we were on the clock for a theatre show). We started by sharing the sweet potato and...coconut spring rolls, based on the rave reviews these get on Tripadvisor. Although they were nicely textured and very freshly cooked, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have more flavour. The main courses however, blew us away. We had a yellow curry and a red curry, both of which were extremely tasty, with a perfect level of spice. I've never seen as much sauce on a restaurant dish and will definitely be ordering extra rice next time to soak it up. All in all, a great experience - can't wait to return.More

Food was delicious, excellent service Sweet potato & spinach spring rolls are unique. Fresh coconut in there too! Tom kha veg soup was amazing Both of us had veggie chicken dishes - i don't know why but you can't get it like this anywhere else...This restaurant is so good - we're so lucky to have it in St Helens. Use it or it will disappear like a couple of other really good places Lovely night out.More

Totally authentic experience. Finding such a special restaurant as this in my doorstep is such a wonderful surprise. From the moment I stepped inside the friendly and professional service was evident. Nothing too much trouble. An amazing selection of drinks. Top notch wine list too....Now the food was gorgeous. I had the pad Thai which was cooked to perfection. My partner had a sea food krapow talay. She is from Thailand and was very very impressed. Easily the best Thai food we have had in the UK. The food reminded me of a Michelin starred restaurant in chiang mai we went to. It’s that good. I recommend thai j’ai restaurant throughly and feel proud that this place exists in my own home town.More

Lovely fresh food served by polite staff. Reasonably priced for the quality. Nice selection of authentic Thai food. Loved the presentation of food. I highly recommend and would certainly visit again. It is only a small restaurant which gets busy which is a good sign...so make sure you book a table in advance. Photographs do not do the food justice.More

After recently introducing my good wife to Thai food we have been on a mission to eat in all the Thai Restaurants in the North West. Little did I know, exactly what I wanted, was right on my doorstep. So after trying some really well...known restaurants in the NW, we booked a table in Thai Jaa with a very open mind. First impression was a nice dining room with a comfortable atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed and drinks were served. Now for the real bit - the food. The menu is large enough to have something for everyone but not too big to be overwhelming. We went for the mixed starter. It was an outstanding choice. Freshly prepared prawn toast, duck spring roll, fish cakes, tempura prawns and chicken satay with a selection of dips. It was all submline. Delicious. The quality of the home made goodies was off the charts for me. Toughest calls were what to eat first and save till last!!!! We had this served with a Papaya Salad which was authentic and fiery to compliment the starter. For main we went for Thai Yellow Curry with chicken and a Beef Panang. As neither of us are fans of Rice, we went for a Pad Thai as the soaker-upper. Both curries were distinct with their flavour and both superb with the right levels of heat, sweet, sour and saly. If I had to choose the Panang gets a win on points as the beef is cooked superbly and for it's texture. The pad thai has bits of shredded omelette in it that is an inspired touch it's also highly authentic. The staff are simply lovely and talk to you like an old friend. You are never rushed and the food is always timely. So, well done Thai Jaa. Thanks for being the best Thai we've been to and for your consistency and customer centric approach. It's all about the food here and they do it damn well My usual criteria Ambience 7/10 Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Value for Money 10/10 - I feel like I'm robbing them! Visit again? 100% yes.More

What a find this place was. We'll definately be back and won't stop until all of our friends and family are aware of it. We were dubious at first as there were no other customers except our own, the 4 of us. We ordered drinks...and food with low expectations as you would ASSUME that it's not popular for some reason, hence lack of custom. We were wrong! Last orders were 10:00, so arriving at 9.30pm, we expected to be rushed out for close, but that was definately not the case. My family ordered ribs, satay, fish cakes, prawn toast. We also ordered an accompanying cocktail of 'Dark hearted' which was to die for, unreal drink. I was the only one who had a main, I personally ordered the Chu Chee Duck with Coconut rice. Everything came out at the same time (as requested), piping hot with brill presentation. You have to visit this place, proper thai food. Thank you Thai Jaa!More
