Found it by accident... but the moment we entered we felt right at home. The owner Rafael, really took care of us, specially as I was feeling a bit ill... he recommended a "caldo de jamón" and it was the best I ever had... my husband tried the house wine, which is produced directly by him... and it was a... Friendly service, lovely lunch time menu with very good food. Typical food of the region. Some outside tables as well, inside is very pretty.

I ate here with my family; I'm an Italian student who lives in Cáceres and so I know the typical dishes of Extremadura: consequently, I am able to distinguish a restaurant that truly respects the Spanish culinary traditions from a restaurant that only apparently pretends to do it. The "Mesón San Juan", certainly has disappointed us: we ordered some "entrecôte... More

Very enjoyable evening, entertained by larger than life Ramon, who is oblivious to our limited Spanish and chats away and makes helpful recommendations. Do ask for the tapas menu and not the carte (helpful hint from our hotel receptionist who recommended both here and La Tahona). Ramon recommended the €25 plate of 10 tapas hitch included the unlabelled house red... More

This place is a must! Delicious food in a great environment! We used to go very often when we lived in Cáceres and we keep going back every time we go back. Staff is very friendly, the location is fantastic, and the food is superb!!

A classic Spanish eatery, hearkening back to the olden days (which I remember). A nice woman prepping the jamón, Pedro working behind the bar, Ramón -- he of the booming waiter's voice -- taking orders and distributing. This is as it used to be, and has a certain reassuring quality to it: Old Spain. Nothing involving nitrogen-suspension, no fusion, just... More

We had a coffee mid morning as was next to our hotel- the friendly staff were eager to share their cuisine with us and insisted we return for our mid- day meal and we did. The food offerings were varied and offers excellent examples of local specialties . Being vegetarian presented no problem. They are ready to accommodate your wishes.... More

We had a wonderful dinner experience at Meson San Juan. It was recommended to us by a woman who lives nearby. The staff was really friendly and helped us order once we explained that we don't eat pork. It specializes in home cooking from this region, Extremadura. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable. Dinner for 2... More

We were there late at night, we had variety of "entrantes", excellent jamon and nice wine of the house and licor. Attentive service. I give "very good" because of the service.
