Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tabanco is a welcoming bar in the heart of Jerez close to Plaza Arenal. Omwas actually looking for another "tabanco" (pub) but that was closed for refurbishment. The pub was still happy to serve me at 16:00.whem others were closing. They were very welcoming There...is a range of Sherries available and a small food.menu with two prices for tapas size and 1/2 ración. I went for the "carne al toro" 1/2 ración which came with a brown of bread. To drink I had a Fino. Don't ask for a Manzanillo as that is from Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Also they, along with other bars in Jerez, don't serve Vino Naranja which is from Huelva province.More

Visited here on our last night, opens 2030hrs, seating and outside and in. A great traditional bar and gets busy very quickly! Tapas really good, beers and sherry cold! Well worth a visit!

This is an excellent traditional and very authentic bar. Draught sherry is very cheap and the tapas is great. It’s very popular and gets really busy but we managed to grab a table as people were leaving. The atmosphere was buzzing and the place provides...a great slice of authentic Jerez life.More

We sampled a number of tapas for dinner one night. A couple were so delicious that we ordered another round of larger portions. The prices were exceptionally affordable. The service was top notch, you simply place your order at the bar, sit at your table...and wait for your name to be called over their sound system, when things slowed down they brought our food to the table. They have a wide selection of sherry, all were very good. High marks for very good food at great prices.More

Loved it here. A proper tabanco. Huge sherry barrels, very good fresh tapas and a great atmosphere. Definitely make a stop here if you’re on a tapas crawl. You’ll be back!

A nice restaurant, that is open all day even in the height of summer. Has a really good assortment of food though possibly more expensive. Service was very good and staff very helpful.

This is an interesting little bar. It's kind of self serve where you go up and order what you want, and when it's ready they'll call it out to you. If you want to order more, you have to go up and order and pay...again. It can get a little chaotic, but the food is pretty good and it's kinda fun. On weekends they serve paella, and it's probably the best thing they have. It comes out in a nice, small tapas sized serving, so you don't have to eat a huge thing of it. The salmorejo and revuelto (with mixed meats) were both tasty, but the ajo campero was the best of the regular menu. It's a nice meat and veggie casserole. We also got the pork cheeks, but found them to be a little bland and fattier than usual. Can't really speak for service too much, it's more like a busy bar and you just have to catch their eye and order, and they don't have time for anything else. It's a fun spot, but it's not for everyone. Not a place to go if you want to sit down and relax for awhile, but the food does come reasonably quick if you don't have a lot of time for a longer meal and don't want fast food.More

The tabancos of Jerez are a must to visit for this very different (from British) way of eating. The menu doesn't appear to be any different from any other tapas restaurant BUT the flavours of the ensaladilla, tomate alinado, chicharrones are fabulous. As for queso...viejo with oloroso well it's a bucket list special!More

Visited Good Friday and came across this Tabanco in a small side street full of bars. Busy. Ideal for people watching. Sherry served from the barrels behind the bar but locals ate all drinking beer!! Sherry is only €1.10 a glass. No waiter service but...bar was not busy.More

This is based on a side street occupied by another couple of bars attracting younger drinkers and is very busy and subsequently noisy. We had visited various tabanco's during the week and didn't really enjoy the atmosphere here. If you're on a tabanco tour then...it's on the list but I would say there are betterMore

Not the friendliest of welcomes. It's self service but nothing tells you this. Food was really good but I will never be convinced by a paper plate. I had a chilled sherry and that was fantastic

While my sister and I were last minute shopping for tourist gifts my husband found this place for us to have lunch. He might have read about it previously as he usually does some research before we go on holiday but I'm glad he found...it, not far from the market. We ordered a selection of tapas for 4 of us but were brought an extra dish of paella, which was ok but not something I would have chosen, but perhaps they thought we hadn't ordered enough. The meatballs were absolutely delicious and we also had cheese; I can't remember what else, but it was so much nicer than some of the tapas we'd had previously in the holiday, but perhaps that is because the surroundings were more `authentic`. We should really have had sherry to drink with it but it was so hot that day that we had cold beer instead. I wish we had found this the previous day: if I ever return to Jerez I will definitely eat here again.More

Such a famous place, always packed and a total disaster! Horrible service, what actually is rare to find in Spain. Spanish people are usually friendly and always longing to help. But not in this place. First he pretended not to understand me, and told me...that in such a rude way, then the potato salad with olive oil was so old, like days kept in the fridge. I tried once and left the whole thing there. I left the place and went to Tablanco Pasaje a real Tablanco to enjoy the typical friendly Spanish atmosphere. Avoid this place living on overrated reviews from tourist who don't really known Spain.More
