Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We held an afternoon reception at The Foundry following a family occasion at the nearby St Nicholas Church. The Foundry provided an amazing and continually refreshed hot and cold buffet with something for everybody and a good selection of drinks. The Foundry lends itself perfectly to a relaxing and informal function such as ours. The service was perfect from start to finish, during the organisation and on the day. We also visited The Foundry a few times leading up to our event and can thoroughly recommend the pizza too.

I cannot praise this place enough. We’ve visited a couple of times and it’s been brilliant on each occasion. Yesterday we had a fantastic Sunday lunch with friends. Three of us had the slow cooked beef brisket and my wife had the Sea bass - The brisket was amazing but I’m definitely going back for the Sea bass. The Foundry is a new local treasure. Lawrence & Andrew really looked after us and I hope the local community rally around and help them succeed with this venture.

I very rarely feel compelled to write a review but this place is quite simply perfect. From the second you enter you know you’re somewhere a little different from the norm. Both front of house and kitchen are obviously being run by absolute professionals. I’m not quite sure how they’ve managed to pull it off but this is central London quality in a local Greater London location. Service is absolute perfection and food is out of this world. Tried almost everything on the menu as it all looked so delicious and ultimately tasted even better. What a treat of a venue. Well done to everyone involved but especially to those running the bar and kitchen. Quite simply wonderful…could not fault it x

This place is so confusing. There are different menus on different days, including a sandwich menu, which is a bizarre addition. Various things were on whichever day's menu I was working from, many of which seemed more like sides - and no main courses for vegetarians unless you want a stroganoff (who does on a hot day?). Pizzas are unavailable, but again not really a very inspiring option. Where's a classic pasta or an interesting salad? Add to the oddness salt & pepper shakers like you'd find in a roadside caff... but everything with prices far higher than a roadside caff... and you can see why this once popular venue is so empty. Big changes are needed.

We visited The Foundry for a family birthday - Sunday lunch for 9 and the experience was fantastic. The new owners have done a wonderful renovation, only a stones throw from the river, in a great central Thames Ditton location. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, the staff were excellent, and the quality of the food and ingredients, shone through. The pork roast was delicious and as for the crème brûlée….! The attention to detail in both the food and the stylish decor, made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend visiting for a relaxed atmosphere, with top-notch food

Having visited this establishment a few times in its pre Foundry days I had modest expectations but am so glad we made the visit today. We had a light lunch choosing several dishes from the starter menu and each was superb. The buratta was delicious, the prawn cocktail was a retro dream - classic old school fare rarely found on menus these days - not sure why, it was fabulous! The cheesy garlic bread was delicious and very generous and the whitebait was served with a delicious spicy mayo. We polished off everything and washed it down with a lovely little bottle of Luberon Rose. Desserts were great, the Affogatto was soooo good and the white chocolate brûlée with frozen berries was world class. The black treacle and rhubarb ice cream was also a hit. Everything we tried was clearly ‘homemade’ and we could not fault any of it. Once tried, never forgotten - so happy to have The Foundry on our doorstep. We will be back very soon!

A lovely spot with a wonderful conservatory and garden at the rear. The staff are friendly and helpful, matching the quality of the decor… as does the food. We both had pizzas, which were delicious, and the salad was tasty, plentiful, and good value, as was the rest of our lunch. Highly recommended.

Called in today out of curiosity to see what Lawrence and his team have done with the place. Excellent pizza and divine salted caramel sticky toffee sponge. Spot on service and a nice ambience. Good value. This is a chef and restauranteur who knows what he’s doing.

Had a fantastic experience at The Foundry. We were made to feel so welcome by the extremely friendly manager and chef. My 6 year old son and dog were also both very welcome so it is great to have found a new family and dog friendly place. We sat outside in the beautiful garden and the food was brilliant. We only had pizzas, which were amazing but I could have ordered everything off the menu. I highly recommend this pub, we will most definitely be back and next time I will be trying more of the delicious food!

On a really hot day, it was lovely and cool sitting in the shady courtyard. Food, service and atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed lunch with friends and our dogs could come too!

On one of our "mystery" journeys home we called in for a drink and finished up having a most enjoyable meal. The Maitre d' made us most welcome but it was a pity that we clashed with the evening drinkers as the coffee was very slow in arriving so we went without.

Do not come here if you are vegetarian.I always check soup of the day is vegetarian with the wait staff. Turns out it wasn’t. Having been a vegetarian since I was a child it was abhorrent to find out I had ingested chicken and threw up. Apologies from the management don’t cut it. I will not go there again as I cannot trust I have not been fed something against my core beliefs without my knowledge.

Thank you for your feedback, all feedback helps us improve. We are sorry you felt you had a bad experience with us, as you have been a valued customer since our opening last December. On this occasion, we have let you down. On the specials board we had a classic French Onion soup with gruyere cheese croutons. This soup is made with chicken and beef stock and I am very sorry to say this information was not passed onto you correctly by the team, resulting in your reaction. Our team of dedicated young locals, are always striving to provide excellent food and service. We are genuinely disheartened to learn that a guest has left dissatisfied. It has been a pleasure to hear your feedback about the vegetarian dishes we have had on the menu thus far. I can only apologise to you again and would like to invite you back as our guests. Please get in touch with me directly to make the reservation. Lawrence
