Excellent food and staff. The owner is always around to make sure everything is perfect. I decided to try a local dish “açorda”, the shrimp one. Delicious. I stayed outside with no reservation but the ambiance is very nice.

Family run and in business since 1938. Dishes are regional and very carefully prepared. Our pork loin and veal dish were excellent. The appetizer tray of meats and cheeses was great but prevented us from having enough room to try one of the desserts they...present in a large tray. The prices were very reasonable.More

Went with family for a special occasion..and it was really special. I have never experienced such great service. The steak was tender (my brother, a long time resident, said it was the best steak he's has had in Portugal) and the fish was beautiful. They...also have huge Tomahawk steaks. The decor is so warm, rustic, and welcoming. I have never seen such a beautiful dessert spread...it was delicious! 5 people with ample starter, food, wine, dessert €165. We normally budget $45 for two, but this was really worth it. Go there!More

Oh my god. The best food I’ve ever had. The ambience is excellent. The service is great. They make you feel like you’re eating for the first time ever. The best part about this Michelin restaurant is that it’s mood AND prices are casual. If...you’re having doubts, let this review be your sign… go for it!More

As we were visiting the beautiful little town of Alcobaça, we stopped for lunch at Restaurante António Padeiro which is listed in the Michelin guide and highly rated in the Portugal Lonely Planet guidebook. We were fortunate to be given an outdoor table on the...small terrace which was very pleasant. All staff were courteous and helpful. We were served a selection of entrées and ordered two Acordas one of prawn and the other one of salted codfish. Whilst the presentation of the dishes were not really refined, they tasted very good. We had a bottle of white wine from the Douro valley which complimented our dishes. Overall a very nice restaurant highly recommended when visiting Alcobaça.More

We came to this town as Lisbon had a lockdown and we’re stuck for a night whilst we didn’t really enjoy the town we absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was fantastic and it is such a nice place. We had clay pot chicken and...the pork loin wrapped in bacon. Both were great but the pork gets a special mention as it was incredible! The wine list is extensive! The setting is perfect we sat inside and found the place was buzzing in a Sunday night - good thing we had booked! I would recommend this to anyone it was a great dinner served by lovely staff’More

Food was very good. Went there for lunch, and decided to go back for dinner! Service was also good. They show you the tray of deserts.

We sat on the outside terrace, situated on a old paved street with views across to the monastery, very atmospheric and buzzy. This alone was a refreshing change for this region, ...we were delighted to find Antiono Padeiro. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The menu offered...alternative takes on Portuguese dishes ,it was great to have game and lamb choices, and a tempting choice of puddings. My dorada was seasoned well with good flavours. All the food arrived piping hot. The apple pudding was one of the best we have tasted, highly recommended. House wine was very good and from the region. Throughout our meal, both locals and visitors were queuing to eat here, Antonio Padeiro is definitely on the popularity radar, and we would love to return one day,a great lunch time experience.More

We eaten in Alcobaca many years since the early nineties . I can honestly say that is was the best dinning experience that my wife and I have ever had in town. Their are good eateries in town, but this is by far the best....Two large dinning rooms one on the first floor and one down stairs which was very eclectic and attractive. The service was traditional ,polite and friendly. The food was traditional regional fare, We came for the locate chicken in a pot, which to this day was the best in town. Great desserts and entrees. Very good extensive wine list. Best of all was the final price. We will be coming back a few more times since we're nearby in Sao Martinho.More
