A warmer welcome you could not wish for.
Set in the attractive village of Braughing.
The team here have made full use of the space available to meet covid requirements.
The service was excellent.
The food was wonderful.
This was our first time here. We had been on a local walk in the area and decided to go here for some drinks with our four children. The service was excellent, very friendly staff. The manager went out of her way to make us...feel welcomed and even though the kitchen had stopped serving - she asked the chef about doing a portion of chips for the children!
We ordered all three styles of chips (chunky, skinny and sweet potato) and they were all excellent. Each one cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
There is a large pub garden to the rear with a high quality play area for the children.
We will definitely be returning. Such a great find!More
We went on Sunday and had a fine lunch. The pub is exceptionally well set up and complies with all the Covid restrictions so everyone as a result felt safe and comfortable. The Roast Lamb was wonderful and the Apple Crumble and Ultra Smooth Custard...was very very good. My 90 year old companion said 'the best ever' ...and he's had plenty to choose from! Would highly recommend.More
My boyfriend and I have just had lunch at The Golden Fleece and it was so special. This was our first visit and the Pub is so cosy and the atmosphere is very happy. The staff there are so welcoming and friendly and really looked...after us. There were so many things on the Menu that we were spoiled for choice (so we will be coming back regularly so we can try everything!). The meal choices we had were delicious and we're looking forward to coming back again very soon.More
Having used the down time of Lockdown to referb with taste and detracting nothing from the buildings classic charm Peter and Jess have put in extensive but not intrusive protection for staff and customers , luckily the dining area can use covered and a large...lawn at the rear where people can distance and enjoy the views of Braughing, the quality of food beer and service isFirst class. the reopening is a testament to the owners and staffs heralding a bright future after along spell of uncertainty....well done ,JohnMore
With the reopening of some businesses on 4 July, we felt very nervous about visiting a pub. Our fears were totally unfounded when booking brunch at The Golden Fleece. We were met by Harriott at the door who showed us to the table suitably distanced...and were served an excellent eggs Florentine with extra black pudding and hash browns all washed down with Bucks Fizz. Well done guys for a great meal and suitably socially distanced.More
Had the set Valentine's menu with champagne to start. Great prices with a well thought out menu. Had the opportunity to try something different and was not disappointed. Good service and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
Had an evening meal here. Service and staff great. Husband and friends enjoyed the meat and fish dishes. I had a good selection of vegetarian to chose from and it was delicious. One tip for the ladies, wear trousers - The bottom edge of the...restaurant chairs destroy your tights! We mentioned this to staff on a previous visit but, stupidly, this time I once again wore a dress! However as I said the food, service and staff outstanding.More
This was our first visit and it was for a birthday celebration - from our party there were mixed reviews. The staff and atmosphere were lovely, and there is a charming looking garden and terrace area to the rear (although it was raining so we...stayed inside). The food was good, although I think to stand up to the competition locally it would be nice to have the little extras like crackling, stuffing, pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, etc. Those little touches do make a difference. It's always nice to stumble across a local pub that does a reliable good homely roast with all the trimmings and I feel the Golden Fleece has just a little way to go to become that.More
