We, my wife & I, daughter & partner, called in for drinks late afternoon. So this is only based on a brief visit as I wanted to specifically visit the pub. Classic real ale pub. Laid back, unpretentious and welcoming. A tad drab. Approx 12 ales on offer. As many have commented, no Wylam Brewery beers which was disappointing. That... More

Stopped in on Tuesday night and sampled a few real ales before settling. There was an open mic night in the other room which was very entertaining with some good local talent. Lovely beer and a good night enjoying the music.

I arranged to have a drink with an old friend and discuss some business with him at The Boathouse, Wylam. Having read some very mixed reports about this place recently and not having been there for a little while,i looked forward to the occasion. The usual array of real ales were on offer, although it was disappointing not to see... More

As a main stop off for the real ale train line trips, this pub has always been a favourite indeed it is the same for cyclists and walkers. Always a large selection of beer (although noticeably nothing from the local Wylam brewery) and a great outside seating area for those long sunny afternoons. But the character has gone, the photos... Out with friends on a long walk and desperately in need of refreshments, we came across the boatyard and we were saved😊 Great find with some wonderful real ale which was much enjoyed. We're sure to return. Call in for a pint I'm sure you'll enjoy it

Real Ale paradise. Excellent range of 'proper beer' always on tap. Local beers and from around the country. The rooms have recently been refurbished and make a difference. The garden seems to have been re-opened. Ideal spot for cyclists to replenish and walkers along the Keelmans and Hadrians Ways. Not tried the food but seems basic pub grub. But it... More

We popped in here after visiting Newcastle, we just hopped off the train straight into the pub where we were met with an array of real ales. What to choose? I went for a White Lady (after a sample taste) and my husband chose the Black Bob, which was so smooth it slipped down without even noticing. I plumped for... More

We've been coming here for years, great choice in Beers but on our latest visit on a Bright and Sunny Saturday afternoon we had the Pie & Peas ....................WOW ! FANTASTIC, Really Good Traditional Pub Grub that went really well with the Ousburn Porter. Must go to place if you like Pie & Peas with your pint.

We stopped in to The Boathouse after a walk along the River Tyne. Located right next to Wylam train station, it's in a great location for anyone coming from Newcastle or near-by, via train. The pub itself is split into two halves, an adult-only half, and a family friendly half. We were in there for the rugby world-cup, and both... More
