Came here for lunch a few weeks ago. Sat outside which is most lovely. Service was ok but thought as it was so quiet it would have been better. We ordered lots of sides and shared, the food was nice but nothing special and we...felt it was quite overpriced for what it was. Lovely pub and feel it has so much potential. I will return in future and hopefully they've found their feet.More

First visit since renovation - overall very promising. The staff are lovely, there’s a good relaxed atmosphere and the renovation is very smart. It’s sad that the mismatched furniture and vintage table settings have gone and in their place is standard pub issue furniture -...more upmarket Wetherspoon’s than character local pub. The food was imaginatively cooked and nicely presented, and there are good options for vegans, which is very rare for this area. There are only a couple of things that would have made the meal perfect: when I booked I did specify that one of us was lactose intolerant, but that information didn’t seem to have reached the staff; also not everyone who is lactose intolerant is vegetarian, and not all vegetarians are vegan. So it would be nice to have a dairy free fish option and a vegetarian main course option for people who are happy to eat eggs and dairy. Having said that, the staff were very helpful and it’s so unusual to get any dairy free choices that it seems churlish to complain. Also it would have been nice to have been offered water for the table and bread with our starters. Finally, I’d been looking forward to the advertised local cheeses so it was disappointing to find only Brie, cheddar and Stilton on offer. It would be great to see some cows and goats milk cheeses from Bath Cheese company or White Lake at Shepton Mallet. Having said all that, we had a lovely meal and we’ll definitely go back if the vegan menu is still on offer.More

We visited the Long Arms for lunch on Saturday. The ambience and atmosphere are superb, that combined with excellent food, freshly prepared, made for a very memorable occasion. A good selection of drinks added to the enjoyment. The staff are a credit to the establishment,...most welcoming and attentive. Upon enquiry we were assured that the service charge that is added to the bill is shared between all the staff. A return visit many times over is on the cards for us!More

After a very underwhelming experience after our first visit, a few days after opening, things have changed for the better. Staff still very helpfull and friendly, especially Kaitlyn, and food was much better than before, and a lot more choice. My only issue, and this...is just a personal thing, is i don't like service charge being added to my bill as the tip should be my choice. I would much rather leave a tip seperate, normally cash, for staff and an amount at my discretion knowing staff will receive it, this is just a personal thing. Anyway we'll done as food much better and we will be back, and glad you are now selling crisps and bar snacks.More

We had booked Sunday Lunch for three, we arrived promptly and were quickly seated by friendly and efficient staff. We were really looking forward to it, we ordered one beef, one chicken and one fish. The beef was good & tasty, however the veg were...luke warm and roast pottoes hard; the chicken was described by my husband as the worse he's ever tasted, hard, dry and tasteless; my fish was OK, but lacked flavour, I was grateful to steal some of the luke warm vegetables from the Sunday lunches,as the veg which came with my meal were woeful, for £23 I would expect more. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was average, the chocolate mille-feuille, was shocking, three splodges of different colour mousse with three brown wafer type shards sticking up from the flavourless mousse, not my idea of mille-feuille. We have three soft drinks, the total was apptox £120. We will not be visiting again.More

Sunday lunch with friends. We all said how delicious the roast beef was, it melted in your mouth. Roast potatoes could have been cooked a little more hence the 4 stars, but everything else was just delicious, thank you.

A lovely venue in a delightful Wiltshire village. The food was amazing and the service welcoming and impeccable. Can't recommend it enough.

Firstly, shocked by the removal of that amazing bar, and replaced with cheapness, the whole atmosphere of the inclusion of locals mixing with the diners has been removed (shame). We had non booked but got a table on a Tuesday night which was great and it...was fairly busy, so would recommend booking. We were a party of three: Two had the special: Mussles /skinny fies cooked in cider: bread (sourdough ?) and butter. It was fine. One : had the pie and loved it,stated it was tasty, but pie and mash ws a fairly small potion. Non of us had dessert a fairly basic non tempting choice. Service: Kids / teenagers , plesant, but it reminded me of very late 1980's London TGI Friday's( train your staff, repeatedly asking "is everything okay? does not mean good service). We all thought great venue but could do so much better, may be the owners emphasis is concentrating on turning it into a wedding venue rather than a great food and service Wiltshire destination, which is such a shame. But will dine again , in the hope this could be a gastro dimond that is eventully polished!More

The Longs offered an attractive menu at a reasonable price. Lovely pub and restaurant, great service and top marks for the food. Definitely returning again. I ordered the haddock which honestly was cooked to perfection. My father had the ribeye steak and was very happy...with his choice. Friendly attentive staff. Also a vegan menu is available where you actually have a choice instead of being stuck with only one alternative.More
