With so many street-side food huts, we decided to head to a pub where we could sit. It had been a very busy bank holiday weekend and the emergency brewery delivery was late so they had run out of a few drinks which we totally...More

I've been visiting West Bay annually since 2006 and the George needs better managament. There was rubbish in the seating area, it was understaffed and I found the staff abrasive. Should be mich better.

Went to the George a few times whilst in west bay.....they serve the local brew "palmers" a great pint in Tally-Ho or 200. Tally Ho was my fav.... Nice and cosy inside or enjoy sitting outside in the sun rays in the early evening.

Food we had was nice, only downfall always a long wait for food, waited over an hour on last visit. Staff were friendly, did allow dogs in areas where food was being served, didn't bother me but others might not like it

We had drinks with our quick meal and for 2 the total bill came to just under £40.00 and that included a glass of wine. As we don't drink beer - unsure of these costs.

The George is located on the Harbour in the heart of West Bay, Dorset. This striking Georgian building stands proudly on the harbourside of this popular fishing village, made famous by being the backdrop to the recent BBC Tv series "Broadchurch".The hotel has recently been taken over (01/10/2013) by Chris and Kim and they are busy welcoming guests new and old to The George. The hotel is open all day and serves fresh locally sourced home cooked from the restaurant, including daily specials using fish sourced from the fishing boats in the harbour. The bar serves a good selection of wines and exceptional real ales from Palmers Brewery, located a mile away in Bridport. There is plenty to do in the area, with several of breathtaking coastal walks and leisurely strolls along the beach front. There are several charter boats waiting to take keen sea fishing visitors, or a Rib taxi that will take you to nearby Lyme Regis and return a couple of hours later. Whether you are looking for a adrenalin packed weekend, or simply a relaxing break by the beautiful harbour, The George Hotel is the place to stay. Chris and Kim look forward to welcoming you to The George soon.
