This little place is a treat. Often booked out at night, but quietish when we passed through for lunch. Cuisine is traditional Azorean with some nice little touches. Veg soup to start with but there was a tempting sounding seafood pancake (15 euros). The place is not cheap but the food was excellent. Junior had the vegan choice which was called seaweed cake but was actually a kind of skewer of balls of seaweed cooked with egg a sort of spongy flavour of the sea without eating an actual fish, which was left to the rest of us. This was served with yam, sweet potato and ordinary potato. Odd but nice. Fried fillets of Trigger Fish for Junior 2 and two portions of Boca Negra, fried, although it said grilled on the menu, with potatoes and mixed salad. This is a fish that never disappoints, fluffy white flesh, gentle flavour and firm enough to take a good frying until the skin is crispy. Delicious. The lemon mousse was creamy and divine, while junior tucked into a kind of dessert of the house, featuring chocolate, cream and cake. All washed down with a bottle of vinho verde and coming to the princley sum of 110 euros including coffees. Highly recommend. Village of Fajazinha is a gem, restaurant is a very steep walk towards the sea.

Actually located in Fajazinha, not Lajes. We went for lunch and dinner, both were authentic and delicious. The owner personally greeted us both times and had a wealth of knowledge when we peppered him with questions about the food. A good wine selection also.

We had such a great meal and the sunset is fabulous. Book a table is mandatory during August and this was ghe last and best place we had a meal in Flores island. It’s a typical restaurant with typical food, no pretentious to be more than just real good homemade food. we chose several dishes, from starters to main courses so we could try a little of everything and the food was very well prepared. Tasted as if we cooked at home. The location it’s awesome with the right sunset 🌅 a d the service was really good.

We ordered lapas, fish soup and grilled fish (Boca negra). Everything was just average lacking a lot of flavour. Until now we have been astonished with how good the food in Flores is and this was an exception and we were disappointed. Also a bit priced

Certamente voltarei. This is what you call a truly traditional experience! The food is really homemade, a familial environment, traditional menu and a decor evocative of a traditional small home from another time! To this we meet to add-up the niceness of the staff and owner and the fantastic sunset that names the place. I will certainly be back.

Definately the best restaurant on the Island Flores. Not only the food is great but the location with the view from the garden over the ocean is breath taking! Here you can see beatiful sun sets. We had diner twice and all was delicious. The limpets, grilled fish, lamb, sea weed pie, beef, peanut ice cream, everything was delicious, home made, I guess the veggies from the garden of the owners. The owners are very kind and work hard and create a very relaxed admosphere as well. We even got a welcome wine and honey liquor since we stayed in their traditional holliday house for about a week. Can highly reccoment this restaurant. It's best to make a reservation since the place is not too big but if fully booked for lunch or diner, just go there for a drink and enjoy the beautiful view in the garden!

During my stay in Flores I have visited this restaurant twice. I was lucky at first to get a place without a reservation, but it is safer to reserve upfront as the restaurant is often full. Situated in an amazing location, this traditional restaurant serves great food and wine. We have had fish both times, and it was very simple and tasty, served with typical cooked vegetables. The portions were generous, but there was still place for dessert; bolo de pudim (pudding cake) was very good both times. The waiter was friendly and welcoming. After our second dinner, we experienced an amazing sunset, discovering the reason why the restaurant is named Por do Sol (meaning sunset in portuguese). Overall, our visit was a very pleasant experience both times, and we would highly recommend it. P.s.: Make sure you bring cash or national debit card as the restaurant does not accept international debit cards.

A delightful traditional azorean restaurant with a wonderful spot by the sea. Limited opening hours so check before you set off that it is open. The menu is fresh and cooked to order. My partner had a lovely fillet of fish and I opted for the traditional Marcelo with sweet potatoes. Well priced Azorean wines accompanied our meal. Highly recommend.

A cozy place with a view to the sunset of Fajãzinha, quick access by railway starting in Fajã. The service is great! Mr. José António is extremely effective and does not fail in any request, making sure that everything is fine over and over again Mrs. Nélia is also a sympathetic and cook wonderfully! The mixed spotting, the calf, the fat fish and the cacoilla were divine! Sweet potatoes are grown by them and are worth it! So the desserts? They were gods! What stands out most is the kindness and simplicity of this couple! No doubt a must-see place if you want to know the typical cuisine of Flores!

Our first meal in Azores! And what a great meal! For starters we had “fatias douradas de milho” with jam and cheese, marvellous! The mean meal was “espetadas de camarão” and “vitela assada”, so so soooooo good. The desert was “mousse de maracujá” also fantastic. It is surely a place to visit again and to not miss in a trip to Ilha das Flores.

Delicious and welcoming experience at this restaurant. Everything was delicious and you have to order the seaweed pie! We ordered nearly the entire menu. The owner was so kind and friendly, he also owns a few airbnbs nearby that look lovely. Pop out with a drink to catch the epic sunset. A perfect dinner spot. Bring cash! No credit cards. Make a reservation in advance as there are limited tables.

Dissapointing! We called one day before and made a lunch reservation using the phone listed in Tripadvisor and Google maps. After traveling half an island especially for this experience, they refused to serve us as they had a group, claimimg we called the wrong number (nice try, but definitely not… as we checked again and the same rude lady we have the conversation with answered and admitted). We suggested several solutions (sitting outside etc), but they kicked us out without trying to solve the issue in any way.. leaving a family with a kid with no lunch for the day (as all other restrictions were closed by the time we reached them). Horrible customer service! It’s obvious they prioritize large groups and don’t care about the rest. At least they could have been honest about the situation or even call us in the morning to cancel our reservation. I would definitely avoid those people. Dishonesty at its best is not something I am willing to pay for!

A great place - we stayed at the AirBnB onsite and ate dinner here 3 nights during our stay. The menu offered a large variety, including local dishes - we didn't eat the same thing twice. The host and service are very friendly and fast for a full service sit down dining experience. The location is great - there are views of waterfalls and the ocean from the restaurant, a fantastic lookout spot on the road to the restaurant with a veiw on the entire valley, and a great walking trail at the end of the road connecting Fajazinha to Fajã Grande). Overall, very enjoyable experience - food, service, speed, and price all hit the mark.

This was the best restaurant on Flores! The arrival is already an experience, descending from the mountain to the seaside, driving through the village. The restaurant has a really nice interior with traditional decorations and features a view of the ocean. The owner was very attentive to our wishes, the meals arrived super quickly. There is a large selection of traditional meals and desserts. The food was delicious! Prices are very good as well. We would definitely come back.
