Thought we'd try a local pub that we've never visited before. We hadn't booked but due to hot weather people have been having BBQ's instead, so we managed to get a table.
A waitress called Emma greeted us, would have been nice for her to...smile. We sat down at the table and Emma introduced us to Callum who would be serving us.
Callum asked us what we would like to drink and came back with those drinks quickly. He then left us to decide what we would like to eat.
I decided on Chicken Diane with small potatoes and salad. My husband had rump steak, fries and salad.
My husbands steak was cooked to perfection and my chicken was very tasty, the Diane sauce was delicious. Potatoes cooked perfectly.
The only problem I had was the small boat of Diane sauce didn't have a handle and was very hot for me to pick up to tip on my chicken. I can't be the only person to have struggled with that.
My husband's rump steak was beautiful, no fat at all.
The meals was sufficient in size. And beautifully presented.
However, the other staff never smiled, they didn't look happy in their roles. One waitress had a belt on as a skirt which just about covered her bottom, wearing black tights on that were laddered. Not a pretty sight!
Callum then asked if we would like to view the sweet menu. I said that would be nice (I rarely ever eat a sweet but quite fancied one).
We asked Callum about them and he politely answered. We ordered the 2 different cheesecakes.
Oh my! Pure heaven is the best way to describe them. Very pretty in their presentation.
What a credit Callum is to The Countryman, even spending 5 minutes to talk to us. Credit also has to go to the chefs for cooking and creating delicious food. Thank you, we will return but will make sure we book next time to make sure we get a table 😀. Thank you!More
