We have been many times for lunch & always found the food first class. Our daughter asked us where we would like to go for breakfast for our anniversary. We decided to try the new breakfast at the Countryman. We wasn’t disappointed it was first...class & very tasty. I didn’t want my Eggs Benedict to end. We will certainly be back.More

Fantastic staff and setting, but the food were lacking for the price. The prawn cocktail were more like a salad had to get the FBI to find the prawns. Main course of Mash and sausage superb, the veg were cooked perfectly but the biggest disappointment...were the treacle sponge it weren't treacle sponge at all tasted like packet sponge too light and treacle poured onto it shame really as the menu as a whole sound so good. But the staff service well earnt their tip top staff.More

Today was the second time we've visited, and it was every bit as good this time around as it was the first time. Both occasions were for a family catch-up over lunch. We were made to feel very welcome as we walked in, and were...seated and settled in a timely manner with drinks whilst we decided what to order. The service was great, and the food was wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed, the surroundings are clean & comfortable, the staff are friendly and attentive. All on one level, with no steps to tackle. Toilets were clean & tiday. Ten out of ten from me!More

Party of approx 23 people, food had been pre ordered however, they bought out food that hadn’t been ordered and food that had been ordered hadn’t been prepared, had to wait for veg to be served when meals had already been bought out earlier then...had to wait approx 20 minutes for 2 meals to be cooked. By this time everyone else had eaten. They served us mouldy bread so had to call the manager to complain, why they couldn’t see this before they served it is beyond me as it was very obvious, several of the staff had attitude when we tried to raise issues with them and they tried to charge us for meals that hadn’t been ordered which we’d sent back. Overall, first time myself and others in the party had visited the countryman and it will definitely be the last, overall an awful experience, foods expensive and customer service was poor. Definitely will not be recommending this place.More

We spotted this restaurant when we were passing and decided to return there on the way back from our appointment. We were glad we did as we both had tasty meals (turkey roast and pie of the day, respectively) for lunch and enjoyed a warm...welcome from the staff. We felt the prices were good, too. We will definitely return there when we are next in the area.More

Thought we'd try a local pub that we've never visited before. We hadn't booked but due to hot weather people have been having BBQ's instead, so we managed to get a table. A waitress called Emma greeted us, would have been nice for her to...smile. We sat down at the table and Emma introduced us to Callum who would be serving us. Callum asked us what we would like to drink and came back with those drinks quickly. He then left us to decide what we would like to eat. I decided on Chicken Diane with small potatoes and salad. My husband had rump steak, fries and salad. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection and my chicken was very tasty, the Diane sauce was delicious. Potatoes cooked perfectly. The only problem I had was the small boat of Diane sauce didn't have a handle and was very hot for me to pick up to tip on my chicken. I can't be the only person to have struggled with that. My husband's rump steak was beautiful, no fat at all. The meals was sufficient in size. And beautifully presented. However, the other staff never smiled, they didn't look happy in their roles. One waitress had a belt on as a skirt which just about covered her bottom, wearing black tights on that were laddered. Not a pretty sight! Callum then asked if we would like to view the sweet menu. I said that would be nice (I rarely ever eat a sweet but quite fancied one). We asked Callum about them and he politely answered. We ordered the 2 different cheesecakes. Oh my! Pure heaven is the best way to describe them. Very pretty in their presentation. What a credit Callum is to The Countryman, even spending 5 minutes to talk to us. Credit also has to go to the chefs for cooking and creating delicious food. Thank you, we will return but will make sure we book next time to make sure we get a table 😀. Thank you!More
