Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here on quick Saturday tea and breakfast round. Ended up spending much more time here, doing some work and brief reading. The place is nice, specious and busy. Good food and very nice staff. Highly recommend.

Took mum here for her birthday tea with my two sisters. The staff made a fuss of her and provided sandwiches and cakes to all our dietary requirements.

Lovely looking place but unfortunately the food was really poor. The sauce with the eggs benedict was awful and bland and watery. Nice service

I haven't been to Kirkby for nearly 30 years and this place was a great surprise. The food is very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The ploughman's lunch was excellent. The cakes and scones are homemade and delicious. There is a great...selection of teas too. Highly recommended.More

What a surprise. We were on a long drive from Northumberland to Dorset and stopped in the area to walk the dogs. We used google to find somewhere local to eat and the pictures looked so nice we thought we’d give it a go. We...are so glad we did. It’s decorated beautifully with objects to sell and clocks chiming. Lovely tea in china cups and the food was obviously top quality with all the cakes, I believe, made on site. The owner was so friendly and we had a lovely chat as well. We wish we lived closer as this would definitely become our local. If you are within a 100 mile radius it’s definitely worth a detour.More

I was taken here by a friend as a Birthday surprise and it was lovely! We had afternoon tea, which was delicious and fresh (plenty of top ups in the tea pot too!). The staff were really friendly and helpful - they let us sit...there for a few hours chatting away enjoying our afternoon tea. The social distancing measures are great and it feels very safe and clean inside. The decor on the tea room is very nostalgic - including lovely old clocks striking the hour and a beautiful gift shop vibe. I would definitely recommend!More

Stopped off as I was passing. A lovely surprise and very pleasant find. Not sure I should share with others as may not get a seat next time. However the food was very tasty and good value. I sat outside, which was very pleasant on...a hot day, the flower beds where in bloom which helped. The service was excellent. You can have a traditional high tea, or sandwich or a very British cake. The Victoria sandwich looked delicious, but there were lots of other types to choose too. I had a sandwich and drink.. Would recommend to anyone.More

Visited today with a good friend after hearing some amazing reviews and our expectations were exceeded, the decor was very traditional and lovely, the attention to detail was phenomenal, with matching china and even serving the jam etc in small glass jars and crisps/sugar in...teacups. The staff very friendly and the food was to die for and every single component was fresh and homemade, i loved that you could choose what tea, scone and cake you wanted, they even put the mustard and pickle to go with the ham/cheese sandwiches in a separate dish so you can choose to have it if you wanted. I absolutely loved this place and cannot wait to visit again.More

Came here for coffee and cake after my run. Very pretty place, friendly service, lovely homemade carrot cake and great cappuccino. Served in a cute china cup, with a cake fork and doily with my cake; nice touch 😃. Thank you!

I discovered Ribbons on the web and despite the almost ghost town we discovered K in A to be, and the 3 buses to had to get there, is was so worth the effort. Despite being an hour early (we weren't sure about the journey...time!) we received a great welcome from all the staff and were immediately seated. The speciality afternoon tea was excellent with all the cakes and scones being home made on the premised - to be frank, when I saw the huge scone I was convinced that it was going to be dry and hard - not at all. It was delicious complimented by the jam and clotted cream. I sadly have a reputation for always finishing an afternoon tea irrespective of the offerings, but happily failed this time and took the leftovers home to a very happy 90 year old friend of ours. just that little bit different in a positive way. Have to add that being something of a 'foodie', I did look around of the other meals being eaten by the happy customers and they all looked different. We will certainly return. Thanks everyone and do enjoy your pending holidayMore
