Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What an excellent pub - a bit of old time comfort, great beer selection, so tidy and clean - polished tables, blacked cast iron stands, bright clean upholstery and a great little pub - an oasis in a street of noise and bright signage

Lovely old tavern in Central Stoke. A large glass of Chardonnay and a pint of Old Rosie for less than a tenner, that'll do for me. Lovely staff too

Went to Hanley for a relaxed evening with friends for a catch-up, went to our usual pubs and my husband suggested the unicorn pub down the cultural quarter, been a few times before and always had an enjoyable experience there but I felt I had...to comment on how lovely it was to have a gin served in a gin glass with all the trimmings, and not just in a tumbler with ice , it was lovely to sit in a proper pub , with a lovely drink ,a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff .More

Served quickly on entry by the landlady. Sat down at a lovely clean chess board table and noticed how clean, tidy, polished and shiny everything was from the bar to the brasses, the windows etc. Got busier but landlady made time to pass the time...of day with each visitor.More

Situated opposite the theatre and it seems an extension of the decor, it’s such a well looked after pub that really does sparkle, it’s a credit to the owners how clean it is. It’s not the cheapest pub in town but its atmospheric and quality.

Visited with friends on a Sunday evening. The pub had plenty of people in, great atmosphere and excellent selection of ale and spirits. The bar staff are very pleasant and engaging. The variety of ales is a welcome change to the local area. For a...group of 7 people, we all found something for us including guns, vodkas, beer and soft drinks.More

My husband and I always seek out real ale and a cosy atmosphere. We certainly found this at The Unicorn Inn. What a treat to get a sumptuous pint, excellent tunes, a very friendly reception; all in that traditional old pub setting. Decked in red...upholstery, lots of brass and memorabilia - just classic. The ale we chose was kept beautifully - absolutely delicious. We were sad we didn't visit earlier in the evening so we could spend more time there. If ever we're in Stoke again we'll certainly be paying another visit!More

Despite being town centre it feels like a community bar. Small but warm and comfortable, across from the theatre for easy pre or post show drinks. What you call a "real pub"

I visited the pub a week ago and was amazed by its change. Over the years it was very good, then a year or so ago it went down, down, down. What a surprise it was for me to see it has gone UP.UP,UP. Under...Tracey the new owner, she is a very warm person and once I left I felt that I had known her for years, full credit to her for what she has achieved. The place is now nice and Warm, Good Lighting, Clean and a great range of bears and spirits and she takes credit cards. I applaud her and will visit again and I have already started to pass on the word to others to go and have a good night.More
